A very lame start for my very lame art.
Wow.
Even my rhyming sucks. ;)

Oh, I love the lips and the nose. For me the nose is the hardest part of the face. The hardest part of the body has to be the hands. But all and all this is great!!:D :D If you could color it in with photoshop it would be great! I think that the photo shop would work best because I beleive that it it easier to color and shade with. I wish you the best of luck!!:D :D

I prefer to color things by hand.
But thank you for your compliments!

Good job Wonko,
I always like portraits and you've done a good job in all of them.

You do great eyes, the Arwen one was particularly good.
I'd like to get some work up but i have no scanner!
(Just gotta love those 1050's comics!)

Photoshop coloring..hmm.
I gave it a shot to see if I liked it. I don't...
But here's my attempts.

And for Oberon a coloring of the original drawing I posted.
However...I still prefer to do things by hand...

Well Wonks, coloring by hand is easier, yet the results of coloring by computer are rewarding, once you get the hang of it.
Take a peak at my gallery, then you'll see why I like working with computer generated colors. I used to be like you, doing everything by hand, which I still do when drawing and inking.
The colors however get added in the computer these days, in photoshop or bryce.
Keep up the work though, wonks.
Practice makes perfect. :)

I did half of Arwen in TINY pixels of color like you did and it looked really good.
Then I hit something that made it go away and got frustrated and decided to not bother with it.
I'm patient...but not that patietnt. *sigh*

Hmmm, I always make saves in between the use of different colors. If you don't like the result that way, you can always go back one step. :)

Try using the dodge and burn tools, wonko, that's what I usually use... I know it doesn't give you *realistic* results, but it looks pretty good if you just want color

Thanks, guys. :)
I really appreciate it.
But I'm not really into this whole computer color stuff. :) Hehe.
I just have this 30 day trial on things and I'm messing around with it.

Wonks, I love your Arwen and Eowyn pictures! (I am jealous! Aargh, I can't draw faces to save my life. They're evil). Oooooh! Aaaaw!
Wonko The Sane

Thank you.
:)
Arwen was done after Liv Tyler but Eowyn is how I think Eowyn should look.
Beautiful...yet proud and strong. :)
I'm colouring her. :) Yay! (but not on computer)

Oh yes- I love Eowyn. She's been my favorite literary character since I was six. I started an Eowyn Admiration Thread [see sig] but it's not seeing much activity *prods it with a stick*

Well, I've finally figured out what that "dodge" and "burn" meant that Tal was talking about. :)
I still prefer doing things by hand...but actually I like the look of unfinished pencil sketches.
Anyway...these are things I've been working on.
All ****...but I've been bored.
When this one scanned some areas without shading turned pure white.
It irked me but I didn't care enough to fix it.
I know he's wrong looking...but I'm not finished with him.

And this...this is her...with random colour.
Just because I didn't feel like making her look real.
SMALL NOTE: There are some little specks on the picture.
Eraser junk. :( Sorry.

Nice work!
I know lots of people who use dodge and burn. Just wanted to state my coloring method if you wanted to try it.
Sets up like this
Pencils or inks scanned in on top layer set to multiply (or just ink on top layer done in photoshop in normal mode, multiply knocks out the white from the scan)
below that is the Highlights set to screen mode
Below that is the shadows set to multiply mode
below that is the flat colors just painted inside the lines of the drawing
last is a white background on the bottom
I just use the wand to select colors on the flats go to the shadows or highs layers and paint with the same color inside the selection (altering the pressure gives lighter & darker tones)
If you want to ad textures do it over the flat color layer set the mode to overlay so you can still see the color behind it.
Any other effects like glows and such is done at the very top on a new layer above the drawing itself. So your looking at about 6 or 7 layers altogether.
Hope that helps if you like it. Keep up the practice. "Talent is nothing without hard work" a quote I like alot.:D

Ok...that made NO sense, but I'm going to print it out and use the info to mess with the pix I've been doing lately.
NOW for some photography. :) Mostly nature stuff...and totally amateur...but I LOVE these pix. :)
