Ever been shunned because of your taste in TV?
Are there shows that Outcasts prefer?
People used to laugh when I told them I enjoyed "The Planet of the Apes" TV show. Hey I was only a kid and the monkeys were funny.
Lately I thought "Freaks and Geeks" was pretty cool.
and "Curb your enthusiasm"

I like 'Curb Appeal'. Hows that? I have some more if you like.

Modern Marvels
The Critic
South Park
Powerpuff Girls/Cow & Chicken/IM Weasel/Dexter's lab

Scrubs is pretty much my most favoritest show right about now. But then, I work in a hospital. Whoops! Also, Angry Beavers and Invader Zim for the cartoon people. Sure, Dexter's Lab and Johnny Bravo aren't bad. I loved that Ego Trip movie. Can't think of much else. Don't watch much TV nowadays. star trek is evil, though. *hides*

Oh, you reminded me that I really loved "Surprise Gardner" also, but I haven't seen it lately. They might have shelved it for the winter.
And MAD TV is a hoot!
:D
Hope nobody says "Married With Children" Yuck, I hate that show. Though, you have to admit, they would be Outcasts even to the Outcasts of the world.

Heh...I'm totally doing the Saturday morning cartoon show thing, even though I'm in highschool. I love superhero shows! Then again, I have three little brothers, and we've all grown up together, and we've been watching superhero shows together for what seems like forever...and some things just never change. I have a Spider-Man umbrella and a Spider-Man lunchbox! :D But, of course, I get some weird looks because of it...but that's okay! I really don't care. Yay for Spidey! Yay for X-Men! Yay for Batman! And all those other spandex-wearing world-saving guys!

Well, here's a list of programs I watch if they are on, not in any particular order, just the order I think of them
The Simpsons
24
Star Trek (not the orginal or DS9)
Buffy The Vampire Slayer (for old times sake, where's all the fighting gone and funny lines?)
Angel (waiting for the third series here, still a certain degree of violence)
Sir Gadabout (kids program set in Camelot, completely stupid and lame, but is good for random acts of comedy brilliance!)
Jonathan Creek
Posh Nosh
E-mails You Wish You Hadn't Sent
And that's about all I can think of. I don't get shunned for it, we have better things to talk about at school

Spongebob IS a popular show but since all the characters are outcasts I thought an exception could be made. ;)
AND Freaks and Geeks is a show that only ran a season about: Freaks and Geeks. It was good.
And Yes, Roxie. The British one is WAAY better.
Drew Carey gets on my nerves. Clive Anderson rocks my socks. :)

I'm quite annoyed. The transmitter I get my TV from was down for most of yesterday, so as a result of that I missed Smallville. A blow I could handle, then it looked as if I was going to miss 24! So I phoned up a friend and got him to tape it for me. But the good news now - I had my TV on just incase, and while I was lying on my bed reading, it started working! Just at the bit saying "The following events take place...". I was incredibly pleased :D And it couldn't have started at a better time, well, I wouldn't have minded seeing the resumé, but I can live with that

Curb Your Enthusiasm is a bit like Sienfeld with swearing and improvised dialogue.
Six Feet Under is a very dark comedy/drama set in a funeral home.
The Sopranos is a sort of mafia soap opera with lots of sex violence and swearing.
Gilmore Girls is not my cup of tea.
24 is a thriller in which each one hour episode is one hour of real-time drama. 24 episodes=1 day in our hero's life.
YayGollum

I LOVE Gilmore Girls!!
:) It's about three generations of women. Which sounds boring but it's not.
Lorelai Gilmore, the main character was from a wealthy snooty Connecticut country-club type home.
She was the only daughter and her mother was controlling, and they pushed her to do annoying snooty things and she was rebellious and free spirited.
She got pregnant at 16 and left home.
She had a baby out of wedlock.
She named her Lorelai as well. But they call her Rory for short. :)
So Lorelai and Rory are our main characters. It's 16 years later and Rory is in high school and Lorelai is a successful business woman, but Lorelai's mother Emily is still in the picture and pushing Rory to do the things her mother never got to do cos she was too busy having a baby.
And it's a comedy/drama. But more of a comedy.
There's love, and laughter. And Lorelai and Rory are SUPER sarcastic, and Rory's a HUGE bookworm.
:) The writing is really good which is why I love it.
It's brilliant writing. :)
Quick humour, funny jokes. And stuff.
It's a great show.
And Six Feet Under is a drama about this family that works in this funeral home.
There are two brothers. One is Nate...I won't go into details about where he stands this season cos Sador hasn't seen that far...he's been in and out of bad relationships and he's in one now that seems good but he's not happy.
There's David. He's gay and having problems with his butch cop boyfriend Keith.
There's Claire. She's pretty and redheaded and she and her best friend Russel played by Ben Foster are taking an art class. They're really talented.
There's their widowed mother...she's hilarious. :) And quirky.
And there's Brenda Nate's some-time girlfriend, Rico a partner in the funeral home, Alexander I think his name is...he's an intern there.
And then there's um...Maya and...shoot...what's her name...LISA! I HATE Lisa. :)
Anyway...I won't blow much cos Sador's still in last season...but yeah. :) EXCELLENT show.
It's morbid, funny, and sad...it was voted one of TV's best shows! :D

Ack! Crazy Sador person, maybe I should have turned that little request into a question. ---> Will someone tell me more about the plot of that 24 thing. Anyways, what are the plots for those Gilmore Girls and Six Feet Under shows? Sure, you've said stuff about the characters, but what kinds of things are happening? Know what I mean? Or are they all just a bunch of going back and forth about everyday life type stuffs and they're only good because of the strength of the characters?

I've watched The Office, it's funny, but I don't think it's that good. I know a lot of people worship it, but the old sitcoms such as Blackadder and Fawlty Towers are definately funnier. There's a great one from the second series of The Office, though - Tim's speaking to Gareth and he's talking about the army with him making him look as if he's gay - I couldn't stop laughing!

I don't understand why every one is a fan of That Seventies Show. I watched it a couple of times, but didn't laugh at all. Maybe its because I lived through the seventies and let me tell you there is nothing funny about platform heels and skin tight polyester.:D
Wonko The Sane
04-25-2003, 09:25 AM
Hehe. My boyfriend was born in the 70s. :) So let's just say I'm not going to be too cool with people saying nothing good came out of the seventies. ;)
Anyway the plot of Gilmore Girls...It's not your normal teenage angst show at all...
And the stuff is pretty much every day stuff. It's the characters that make the show good.
:)
Six Feet Under has a larger plotline, the characters are excellent as well, though I won't divulge the plot because Sador IS STILL IN SEASON ONE! ;)
And The Office CAN be funny. The one I saw that I liked was the one with the training episode where Gareth and the boss (Can't remember his name....damn!) sing songs instead of doing training. ;)
It was funny cos they're trying to figure out the " You have a chicken, a fox, and a bag of grain on one side of the river, and only one boat, and only room to take one thing across the river at a time" connundrum. And Gareth was like, "Why doesn't he ask his wife to help?" and Tim is like, "No good. He hasn't got a wife." And Gareth is like, "All farmers have wives" and Tim says, "Not this one he's gay." And then Gareth says, "Well then he shouldn't be allowed near animals, then should he?"
I LAUGHED SO HARD!!! It wouldn't be a funny joke if it could be taken seriously but as it's Gareth saying it I find it hilarious! :)
Sador
04-25-2003, 09:31 AM
Gotta love Gareth. He is such a wally. I liked the one where they were sitting in David's office trying to work out the difference between a dwarf and a midget. Then Gareth pipes up "So what's an elf then?"
Wonko The Sane
04-25-2003, 11:26 AM
I didn't like that episode much, but I did like that scene!!
:) David is trying to downsize that guy and they keep getting distracted.
I don't understand why Gareth is always standing behind David in his office all the time. He's like David's personal bouncer or something.
Sador
04-25-2003, 11:49 AM
I think its part of Gareth's belief that he is "Assistant regional manager" when he is only in fact "Assistant TO the regional manager" Or maybe its part of his duties as "Team Leader"
Wonko The Sane
04-25-2003, 11:51 AM
Even if he did realise he was the assistant TO the manager he still might feel the need to be David's bouncer. Who knows. :)
And yeah, Craig...I only find The Office funny sometimes, but Snaga tells me of people COMLPETELY obsessed with it.
That really frightens me.

It's like the show Popular. Which was a comment on the stupidity of high school dramas.
Passions is all tongue in cheek. :)

OK Star Trek fans, is any one else as disappointed with Enterprise as I am?
The theme tune stinks.
T'pol is the only Vulcan in the history of the franchise to walk around in a body suit.
The stories are all just shoot 'em up.
It doesn't go anywhere boldly(or otherwise).
Scott Bakula has the charisma of a carrot.
Maybe I'm being harsh, but I've been a loyal fan of the franchise since the original way back in the sixties and this show is letting me down.

I have been a loyal hater of the series for forever, as far as I know. My evil mom lady loved the thing and I always had to watch it. Pure evil. I am happy to hear that this new series is bad. sorry about that. I've been traumatized.

I like Enterprise. But I am not a Trekkie. I like watching it if it's on, 'tis all. I don't compare it to any of the older ones, and I don't read into the histories and such like, so I just view it as an interesting way to while away an hour.

Augh! I agree Sador, Enterprise is pathetic. Scott Bakula reminds me of a used car salesman. The theme song is horrible and I will scream if I ever hear that awful song again(okay okay I'll look for any excuse to screech, bu that's not the point).

The only Star Trek I was ever very interested was DS9, and that only up until Jadzia Dax died. You just don't go around killing up Rhian's favorite characters. You just don't. Not when she and Worf had just finally gotten hitched (and that was the greatest episode ever).
I now hate Star Trek/Wars and it's entirely due to my brother being over-obsessed.

Yikes! I hope you don't drive anyone away for liking LOTR! oh well. Ick. deep space nine? Isn't that one of the least liked serieses? oh well. They are all pure evil. Argh! Now you're making me feel evil for recognizing nameses! *runs away*

I didn't like DS9 (I watched the last episode though, and a few others in between). It was only DS9 and the original I didn't like - the rest I watch if they're on.

For years I thought hated DS9, but then I saw Enterprise. In Aus. we are only now getting the last series of DS9. So my only Star Trek fix is a choice of these two shows and DS9 is way better. I'll usually watch both. I have to look away and block my ears during the Enterprise title song though or I might break something.

Tenchi Muyo! and all the others are based on Japenese tv shows. Very funny, about misfit aliens.
YayGollum
06-06-2003, 04:29 AM
All of the others? Or just the Tenchi thingses? oh well. Misfit aliens sound cool. Anyways, what do you mean when you write that they're based on Japanese shows? They're not exactly what was shown there? That's not fair. oh well.
Silven Assassin
06-06-2003, 06:00 AM
I mean all the other Tenchi's. They were first aired in Japan, and were translated into English.
YayGollum
06-06-2003, 09:03 AM
Got it. So they're the same shows, just translated. The English one isn't based on the regular one. It's the exact same thing. oh well. What about the other showses you were talking about. *hides*

Rurouni Kenshin and Outlaw Star are other Japenese television shows translated into English. Rurouni is about a samurai who used to kill lots of people, but now has sweared never to kill again. Outlaw Star is about Some people who are, also, sort of misfit aliens. I like that show a lot. Those other shows are comedy series from the Disney channel.

Sort of misfit aliens. Sure thing. Anyways, Yikes! That's a lot comedic Disney stuff! Too scary for me. oh well. Doobedoobedoo... I still like the old Angry Beavers show. The Halloween special was very cool.

1. No cable
2. Freaky-weird wiring in this house. We couldn't possibly put the TV where the TV wiring was. And we haven't gotten around to moving the wiring around. So it's nothing but video and DVD.

I would say my favorite show when little was "Thundercats".
Then when a little older my favorite show was "Boy Meets World".
Now I would have to say I don't really have a favorite due to lack of tv watching in quite some time. Though I did like to watch "Whose line is it anyway?" when it came on.

Never watched Thundercats (what is Thundercats?), never watched Boy Meets World.
Ironman, Fantastic Four, the Hulk, Spider-man, and Batman once a week.
Then it was Pinky & the Brain, Animaniacs, and Batman twice a week.
Then it was Gilmore Girls, Hey Arnold, Pinky & the Brain, the History channel, and Batman when I could get it.
And now I have no TV.

X-Files (my all time favorite)
Simpsons
Sex and the City (hilarious)
Inuyasha, Trigun, Rurouni Kenshin, Cowboy Bebop--all of those are anime, and yes, I don't usually discuss it with my friends..:D It is good quality anime though, not the Pokemon kind.;)
Forensic Files on the Discovery Channel (Love forensics, forensics are cool)

And I watch make-over shows, when they're on. And 'A Wedding Story'.

Anime is very popular, but not with the evil preppy type people. It's the outcasty people en masse making it popular.
I haven't gotten to watch a lot of anime except most of Neon Genesis: Evangelion and Spirited Away (I love Spirited Away).

I liked Neon Genesis Evangelion, but Cartoon Network showed only about 3 episodes. They tried to show it at 3-4 p.m. and tried to target the young audience, while the anime is made clearly for more late adolescents and adults. As a result, CN had to cut out chunks of the anime, and edit the rest... It was a mess. So they stopped showing it. I never finished watching the anime (I will though, I promise! :D), but I know the storyline.
I used to watch G Gundam, I actually watched it from the beginning to the end. The animation is ok, but the plotline is really basic--fighting, and more fighting.
