he seemed to have really bad lines and the need to state the obvious
forgot the mountains name Carahadraes or sumthin
" theres a fell voice on the air"
door of moria
"goblins"
in balins tomb
"orcs"
amon hen
"the horn of gondor"
i just found it funny that , that was all he really did half the time

You also have to remember, he didnt have much to say in the book either! And he di say a lo more than just that. The horn of Gondor was a very important line cause it showed us Boromir was in trouble and what hat horn ment

yes true, but he sounded like a moron in the film, and also, i found it pretty obvious that boromir was in toruble you with the 80 odd uruk hai running towards him and all.
and aragorn and all them runnign after they heard the horn, but im sure they had to say what it was somewhere

Legolas pales in comparison to Pippin in FoTR. Jackson made him so horribly stupid and idiotic that I would have been embarassed had I been Billy Boyd and had read the book first. One need just look at the Council of Elrond to prove that point. I found Legolas to be the most consistent character true to Tolkien through the two movies.

I think Orlando was a pretty good Legolas in most aspects, but now that you show some of the awkward things he said in the movie, it is weird. I mean, he is a good Legolas, but now that I finally realize all of those really obvious things, he said, it is weird! I don't really know what I am saying here, but I think Legolas does say some obvious and awkward things in both FOTR and TTT.

Oddly enough, the lines that you object to were either spoken by other characters in the books or are variations thereof.
Boromir said in the attempt to cross the pass of Caradhas "there are fell voices on the air"
Gandalf in the Chamber of Marzabul reported that there were orcs outside the door.
Aragorn on Amon Hen mentioned hearing "the horn of Boromir" and that Boromir "was in need"
Oh, and Legolas in the book did feel the need to "state the obvious" during their journey down the Anduin...only he did so in his native tongue crying aloud "Yrch!"

Well its not exactly his fault on the lines he gets.... for physicalization the actor did quite well, he moved gracefully.... especially in the battle scenes as did aragorn the lines ....well no comment of course the one thing that should have been in TTT was the elvish singing to sleep sort of thing... that would have been cool,

yea thats what what i mean, orlando did play him well
but his lines where pretty bad most of the time
and if they were trying to show he has better hearing and eyesight than the others it didnt work very well

....and running up the troll's chain, and shield-boarding down the steps, didn't say much for his abilities either - they're both too silly, as are the words that PJ force-feeds into him - "why doesn't that surprise me?"!

Just what I've always wondered Thorin, how BB, who is much the oldest of the four, allowed himself to spout the rubbish PJ lumbered him with in FOTR! Don't you think he and Dom have been treated a bit better in TTT though?

Because Pj is trying to bulk up Legolas..society needs super hero's/ Legolas and Aragorn

I know you are talking about the films, but you say Legolas' lines were bad, and I was merely pointing out they were pulled from the book for the most part, even though many were in fact spoken by different characters.

Ahwell...the most annoying character if you cound TTT is farimir

I thought Legolas was totally cool in both films!
This is a heroic epic quest, not a reality show on TV. I thought the lines were consistent with the genre.

i thought he was brilliant in the film (though i am a HUGE orlando bloom fan). he had the hardest lines not the worst. PJ just decided to give him challenging, poetic lines. they were all short, sweet, and beautiful. most of his lines were some of my favorites.
"A red sun rises, blood has been spilled this night." ahhhhh (swoons). the lines were just hard to say. i don't neccessarily think he was annoying. i agree that faramir's character was annoying though. that was the one thing i didn't like that PJ did. anyways i'm going off the subject. i do know people that didn't like his lines , i'm just not one of them.

Ok I love legolas and I have only read"the hobbit" so I'm not going to flip out but in the movie the things he said were either important or wisecracking but like orlando said on his website"legolas doesn't speak alot he mostly lets his actions show for himself"and its so true and well thats all I really had to say.....ta ta ta!
i thought bloom did a good job of legolas. you cant really blame his lines on him, they were put there by someone else. :D

I disagree with the poster of this topic. Legalos IS NOT the most annoying person in the film! The most annoying person is Gimli. He just bugs me......

I thought he did pretty good in the first movie. Someone has to state the obvious at times for people that aren't to quick to pick these things up.
