1. Lord of the Nazgul at the Gates of Minas Tirith hood thrown
back, crown on invisible head, glowing red eyes and flaming
sword against a backdrop of dark storm clouds.
WOW!
2. Eight Nazgul hovering over the Black Gate when the Captains
of the West arrive.
OOOHHHHHH!
3. The Tower of the Moon - Minas Morgul in the Morgul Vale. Just
crying out for a horror film style Skull Castle treatment.
AAAHHHH!
4. Eowyn’s disguise unveiled as she stands before the huge
winged beast in the battle of Pelennor Fields; cutting its head
off and then the Wraithlord rising from its writhing corpse,
mace in hand...
OH MY GAWWWWD!
6: Aragorn’s departure against the sunset, Palantir of Orthanc in
raised hand. Green fire and red flames.
UH! UH! UH! UH!
7. Saruman’s (Dracula style) dissolving dead body. Christopher
Lee?! Hammer Horror?! Peter Jackson?!
HOW POST MODERN CAN YOU GET!
Can ye think of anymore or refocus the lens on the above?

Obviously not. Has anyone read the book?:p

Some good suggestions. Minas Morgul was built by the men of Westernesse though (as was Cirith Ungol). Therefore it should look Numenorean, to some degree. We've already seen the lower parts of Minas Morgul in FOTR though, the Nazgul gallop out of it's gates.

I don't know about this one... Riding off into the sunset holding the Palantir aloft? Where? Why? POTD?
There's so many many others I wouldn't know where to start!

You weren't by any chance thinking of the Elesssar, were you, that Aragorn holds up as he bids farewell to Frodo and Co. as they set off for the Shire at the end of ROTK??
The only thing I would add to your list would be Theoden's charge onto the Field of Pellenor. Shield blazing like gold in the sunlight, grass flaming under the feet of his magnificent steed...should be awesome!

PRH: Tolkien describes Minas Morgul like a face with teeth etc. Or was he not being literal? I don't remember it in TFotR. I'll have to watch again and again and again.:D
Yes you're right Mirabella: page 1018 (in my paperback) Many Partings, I assumed it was the Palantir but it seems to be an Elfstone (sorry, haven't got as far as remembering the names of the jewelry yet !;) ) similar to the one used by Frodo and Sam (whose name also escapes). Good call on Theoden too!

I don't recall this description of Minas Morgul. There is a passage that describes the beacon of Minas Morgul leering like a ghostly head in the night. I'm gonna go with PRH on this one. The tower (if we see it!) will look Numenorean, but probably with a Gothic flavor.
The base of it, which we see in FOTR, looks somewhat like Orthanc I suppose (which is also the work of Westernesse). PJ says in the commentary track at that moment that we will see it again in part three.

‘Master Meriadoc,' said Aragorn, ‘if you think that I have passed through the mountains and realm of Gondor with fire and sword to bring herbs to a careless soldier who throws away his gear, you are mistaken. If your pack has not been found, then you must send for the herb-master of this House. And he will tell you that he did not know that the herb you disire had any virtues, but that it is called westmansweed by the vulgar, and galenas by the noble, and after adding a few half-forgotten rhymes that he does no understand, he will regretfully inform you that there is non in the House, and he will leave you to reflect on the history of tongues. And so now must I. For I have not slept in such a bed as this, since I rode from Dunharrow, nor eaten since the dark before dawn.'. . . . Pippen remained behind. ‘Was there every anyone like him?' he said. ‘Except Gandalf, of course. I think they must be related. My dear ass, your pack is lying by your bed, and you had it on your back when I met you. He saw it all the time, of course.'. . . .
I just really like this part, and hope it's in the movie in some form.

It is, I believe, the stone that Glorfindel left on the Last Bridge to assure the Company trying to reach Rivendell that the bridge was safe and no Nazgul were laying in wait for them once they crossed. Of course, in the films, no Glorfindel, no Last Bridge - and no elf stone (Elessar). So I wouldn't hold your breath for the shot.

I must beg to differ here, Mrs. M. The Elfstone Aragorn hold's aloft in ROTK was given to him by Galadriel in Lothlorien, and not the same stone Glorfindel left on the Last Bridge.
You are quite correct that the Elfstone has not made an appearance in the films yet, which makes the chance of this shot happening unlikely.

What's Aragorn going to do then? Wander off looking a bit miserable? :D
There's got to be a significant shot for each of the remaining Fellowship's departure from the film.
Everyone in the cinema's going to be putting their coats on and shuffling after the Ring is destroyed and the battle won. Especially after three hours +. They'll think it's all over. But then you've got the Weddings, the Scourings the Haven(ings):p .
I think the last part of the book could be mostly done in montage with voice over (Galadriel) in about ten minutes. Then have a quick scouring (in a Friday the 13th/Halloween epilogue style, you know - and we thought he was dead! ) with Saurman's death. Then nip off to the grey havens for a nice Viking/King Arthur style boat drifting off into the mist.
Nice!

The Scouring of the Shire- I would love to see the battle of bywater. I just can't picture a bunch of fat hobbits hewing down ruffians and shooting arrows.

There will be no Scouring of the Shire in ROTK. That has been known from the beginning, rather. Like the Old Forest/Bombadil/Barrow Downs scenario, it was deemed to be unnecessary. And, as Jackson turned the focus of the story from hobbits to men with the story of Aragorn and Arwen taking a larger part than in the original tale, the SoS was also considered an "anti-climax" and expendible. Of course, that means that Saruman's death is also "up for grabs" since he didn't fall in TTT.
I do think that they will probably have the Havens, although as Jackson is still shooting (according to one N.Z. source), ROTK seems to be up for grabs. Frankly, ROTK should be interesting if for no other reason than to see just what Jackson finally comes up with to finish off "his" LOTR.

NO SCOURING! NO SCOURING!
That stoopid Wacko Jacko :) !. They've got to go back to the Shire and make the film nice and rounded. It's perfect. I suppose they won't have Bilbo in it again either.
WHAT A WASTE!
And what's going to happen to Saruman? Lock him up and leave him there? They could transfer Grima killing him to Orthanc. I suppose that might work.
Are the Grey Havens going to be just up the road from Minas Tirith now?
The first two films changes weren't as major as that!

And another thing - I wonder if (as you point out Mrs Maggott) they'll have the complete story of Aragorn and Arwen from the Appendix. There were some shots of a dead ancient Aragorn on the slab in one of the other films (if I remember rightly) with Arwen mournfully gazing down.
hhmmmmm:confused:

We know from the FOTR EE that the Grey Havens are right near the Shire, as in the book.

I haven't seen the EE yet. I have that to look forward to (when I can afford a player and a HUUUUUUUUGE wide screen TV:D ).
So if the Grey Havens are in the right place that means they are going back to the Shire. A great end would be the Elves mystical parade through the woods and Bilbo and Frodo on the prow of the ship sailing out to see. But that's a bit downbeat for Hollywood. There'll have to be some happy ending final scene no doubt.
