I am curious where the barrow-wights originate from? and what are their specific powers...they sure seemed to have quite the control over the hobbits!

thx in advance:)

You'd get replies if this was in the Literary Forum. This is the Film Forum and seeing as the wights were not even present in the film, some people in this forum may have not read the book and wouldn't know.

So, re-post your question over in the Literary section. :)

I, for one, was glad the barrow wights were not in the movie. It was in the book just to show how the hobbits came by with their little swords (or knives, can't remember which) and how powerful friendship is (Frodo deciding to save all his friends instead of putting the ring on and escape alone).

Except without that special Barrow Down's sword from olden times the Witch King couldn't have been defeated.

I am kind of glad that it wasn't in the movie, because it would have been really scary. The ringwraith part was enough scary stuff for me!
