Do you guys recall in your reading that Aragorn didnt want to enter Minas Tirith after the battle of Pelenor Fields to prevent potential mayhem and confusion? Im guessing that in the movie, PJ is gonna change this and make Aragorn valiantly ride into Minas Tirith and everyone will love him. It just seems like PJ would do that to me... Do any of you agree with me? How do you think PJ will have it? Will Aragorn back away and not enter willingly like in the book? Will he valiantly come in to meet Arwen and Elrond in some strange twist of events? Will they just skip the Corsairs of Umbar and have Aragorn be in Minas Tirith before the Battle starts?

Lets have some thoughts...

No! You're probably right. PJ wouldn't have Aragorn doing that like in the book. That's one of the details in the book PJ probably won't consider worth including. About the corsairs... he better leave that part in. That was a really cool part in the book. PJ better not change that! It would be really awesome in the movie.

What 33Peregrin said. I would be so disappointed if PJ took out the Paths of the Dead and the Corsairs. That would really stink.

Well Aragorn actually DID enter the city. He healed Merry, Eowyn, and Faramir. But he didn't claim his kingship and he chose to sleep outside the city.

I think it'll have a very cinematic effect if PJ includes Aragorn's gracefully leaving the city after the healing. So I think he'll leave it in.

I think PJ wont omit the Corsairs of Umbar, but I am afraid the Oathbreakers would prove impossible to film ...

well if you had said that a few years ago i would have believed it, but not now not after what i have seen, I think he will include the, and i think it will be amazing!

Well, it's official. Pj is including Path's of the Dead, but has to leave out Scouring the Shire b/c Sam got the rope from Galadriel, not the box.

The Oathbreakers stuff has ghosts - PJ won't miss the chance to make ghosts!

The Paths of The Dead are too crucial to leave out, but the part about him just entering the city triumphantly before the last battle of The War of The Ring is very possible although he does show Aragorn with some hesitation in FOTR but he seems to have conquered it in TTT.

nah, he wont have time for anyone of that !!! Even if he knew how

jackson will have someone rasie the FLAG on the battle field and then we hear a voice over from sam, saying about how they will be told in stories and THAT they did fight for good, becuase there was still good in the world, and other such mushy mushy stuff that has absolutely no substance

He will not have time for any of that detailed stuff. The Battle of the Pelennor is a huge battle and with how much time PJ wasted with small Battle of Helm's Deep, he will probably have the hosts of Gondor and Rohan march to Mordor as soon as the battle is over. He probably won't leave any time for character development, PJ likes action to much, and RotK has the most action of all the books. He has already gone overboard with the action in the last 2 films so I have no faith in PJ for RotK. Plus I would not be surprised if PJ included Elves, Dwarves, and Dragons in the Battle of the Pelennor, he has an act of going all out with the special effects, even to the point that it kills the flow of the story (Stairway in Moria, Wargs in TT).

NO MARCH TO MORDOR

THERE WON'T BE TIME

The movie's over after Pelennor.

I predict.

On the one hand, it would be in character of PJ's Aragorn to be unwilling to make a big entrance into Minas Tirith. On the other hand, there probably will not be enough time for that and he will have to just barge right in. I bet the march to Mordor will be left in, unless they plan on having the Mouth of Sauron meet them on the pelennor fields!

I do believe ROTK is about 4 hours long, I am not saying that for sure or anything but thats the rumor so if thats true they will have more time then we think for different things.

I sure hope it is longer, but even so there is a lot left to cover. He hasn't even gotten through everything in TTT yet. We'll see...

This is very true, I dont think there is any way it cant be shorter with how much is left to go unless of course PJ leaves out alot

Jackson will have to set up some great "lead in" to the destruction of the Ring. In the book, it was, of course, the armies of the West before the Black Gates in a 'battle' which would have made mincemeat of the "good guys" except that the Ring was destroyed.

Jackson has to do something to "set up" that particular cinematic climax. But if he takes too long with Pelannor, he's going to have precious little time to develop the other scenario. I predict that very little of what is "subtle" is going to find its way into this film. Subtle things (like Aragorn refusing to enter the city except in secret to heal the wounded) are very difficult to do without taking time to 'set them up' and I don't think Jackson will want or be able to take the time to do that. He certainly won't want to sacrifice any "action" scenes for something which I don't think he believes is all that important. What Tolkien thought about such things, of course, is quite different.

sure Jackson could do the Aragorn "i aint worthy-daddy neva gave me enuff attention" Son of Arathorn refusing to go thru the gates of Minas tirith. All he has to do is :

Jackson can just have Legolas do a another hissy fit at Aragorn and Aragorn can have another "Defender of the little people" comeback like

"then i will die as one of them"

grrrrr
