Book before the movie or movie before the book?

The truth is that I promised everyone that i would never EVER see LOTR FOTR!!!!! I thought it was going to be stupid. I thought it would just be like star wars: everyone's obsessed with the books and the movie and they dressed up like the crazy characters. geeze was i wrong! look at me now! i'm posting on a forum made for freaks like you and me! i never thought i would see it or read the books! now i LOVE the books. I LOVE the movies! I love all things LOTR!!!!! amazing how far i've come! anways, if you couldn't tell i saw the movie first then read the books. :)

Well I think that to read first the book is preferable than to watch the movie first.Reading the book first makes you imagine everything alone and you can feel the Tolkien's world better than if you watch the movie first

Yeah... I saw the movie first. I wish I had read the books. I had read the Hobbit earlier that year, and I thought it was kind of stupid. I saw a few commercials for LOTR and thought it was just another movie I would never see. I was wrong. On Dec. 23, my dad told me we might go see LOTR the next day. I asked him if we could maybe, sorry, see Harry Potter instead. I remember the night I first started the Hobbit. My dad told me he had once had a bird named Gandalf. It dropwned in a cup. Anyways, we went to go see LOTR, and I don't know what happened to me! I got FOTR a few days later and started reading it (After rereading THe Hobbit) Then I was obsessed. I'm so happy I saw that movie, even if it isn't half as good as the books.

I voted movie first...however I did start to read the book long ago and never finished it! After the movie I was diggin my copy out!

I saw the movie before I read the books. I it would have been the other way around. I think the books are much better than the movies.

i wish i would have read the books first but i was too darn stubborn. i would have preferred to have my own images and not created them with the movie characters. though it doesn't bother me.

- Read the books way back in high school
- Almost did not see FoTR when it came out bec. I did not want to watch what I thought could be a poor adaptation
- Succumbed to temptation bec. the trailers were awesome
- Patted myself on the back for not depriving myself of one of the greatest piece of cinematic achievement
- Eagerly awaited the TTT and saw it on the very first day
- Now eagerly waiting for RoTK
