Valanthe sat on a bench in a gazebo a ways of from the Temple of the Heren Istarion. A sparkaling silver flute sat next to her and she waited patiently for her music students to arrive, humming to warm up her voice.

Ewen ran up to the gazeebo and stood in front of Valanthe.

"I would much enjoy to be in this music class! I appear to be the first here!" She sat down.

"What type of instruments can I learn? I've played the Tin Flute, rather amateurishly, but you can't get much else from living alone." She finished. She looked back down the path, and waited for the rest of the class to come.

"Well, you could play Tin flute if you wished. Can you sing? You could also sing!" Valanthe smiled at her student.

Charmiana came running up behind Lossandewen singing inn her rich soprano

"She's like the swallow that flies so high, she's like the river that never runs dry, she's like the sunshne on the seashore she loves her love but she will love no more."

Valanthe perked up at the clear, sharp voice cutting through the quiet morning.
"Ah, here comes a singer now! Very nice song, my dear. Now, you two, warm up your voice or instrument for a few minutes while we wait for any others. When you finish your warm-up, we'll begin.

Going up slowly by jumps of fifths Charmiana opened up her range to amazing hights...

þieluar walked to the gazebo with a case. He then said "I would very much like to be in this class" to Valanthe. He then went away to get a glass of water and put it on a table. He then opened the case and took out a reed and put it in the glass. Then
he took out the parts of a bassoon and started to put them together, he put them together and took the reed out of the glass and put it on the bassoon and started to warm up.

"Well, I can try singing. I am a very shy elf though, and I think I want to learn the flute. It's close to the tin, but the flute has a less harsh sound to it. It could come in more handy for attracting people rather then the sharp 'pips' of my tin." She explained. She knew she could sing very well, but her lack of confidence around people. She wasn't used to any attention.

"We will make an interesting band won't me... though I think it will sound good. What songs will we be looking at and are we going to di any performances????"

"Well, after we learn some things, we may very well end up performing for the rest of the HI academy in a concert sometime. Now, Loss, do you know how to play at all on the Flute? I'm just wondering if you have any experience in the instrument yet... if you don't, you do not have to participate in the warm up yet.
As for the rest of you, we will begin with a simple warm-up. Any questions before we start?"

Ewen looked up while she was assembling a flute.

"No, lady Valanthe, but I think it would be wise to join a warm-up so I can accustom myself to the keys and fingerings. Or atleast learn to make a sound on it" She said, and blew across the hole. The flute made no sound whatsoever, and Ewen's face twisted a bit in discouragement. She kept trying though, and eventually she got a clear and beautiful note out of it.

"Well," Valanthe said with a laugh, "It's a start. I'll assume you'll know the fingering of at least some notes? If not, I'll be happy to give you a quick lesson in a few minutes.
"Now, everyone, try to repeat after me," Valanthe picked up her her flute and played a few ascending notes.

þieluar put the bassoon to his mouth and tried to play the notes Valanthe had played. When he first tried he slipped with a finger and got the wrong note but when he tried again it went better and he played all the notes without any big problems.

"Very nice, Charmiana, you matched the notes well!" Valanthe grinned; She was fond of singers. "
Now, Ewen, if you at least know how to finger some note, try to repeat after me."

Ewen straighened out her posture and put the silver flute to her red lips. She parted them slightly and blew, the flute emitting a beautiful C tone. She watched Valanthe go over the fingerings for the scale, and she tried. Although the scale was in a strange, disjointed order, she got all the tones and each were as clear as raindrops.

An elf maiden walked up. "Forgive my tardiness, m'lady. I had some trouble finding this place." Celebrian surveyed the others. "I can play the harp and sing. I also know many songs. Unfortunately, my harp was lost when I was waylaid by a band of men. Would you happen to have a spare?" She didn't recongnize anyone she had met before. But she loved music and couldn't wait to begin playing.

"Yes indeed I have several spare instruments. I have a harp back here if you will wait a moment..."
Valanthe stepped outside of the gazebo and went to thye back of it where the spare instruments were. She took the harp and brought it up to her newest student.
"There you are. Now, I have a short peice of music here, it's very simple and Largo. Just to warm us up a bit."
She took a moment to pass the music to each student.
"I'd like to give this a shot now. Take a moment to look at the music and let me know if you have any questions before we start."

"That, my dear, is what the conductor is for."
Valanthe smiled and raised her hands. She guided her students slowley through the notes. She heard few mistakes, and the tones were good.
"Well, that was very nice. Now I've heard all of you and seen your experience thus far. I think now would be a good time to let you all go for your weekend. Your next class is on Friday. See you all then!"

Alright, just like I'm saying to all my classes: This whole upcomming timeline thingy confuses me a bit. I'm sure I'll catch on more shortly. Anyway, it seems starting tomorrow is "Saturday" and your next class is "Friday." See you then! :)

Just to clarify, everybody, I am back now! I dismissed all of my classes before because I was not sure if I'd be back before the timeline started. I won't bother to start my classes again until their time in the timeline comes. See you all then :D

Valanthe heads back out to the Gazeebo on Friday. She assembles her flute and looks around. It's a beautiful day. She begins to play something light and cheerful her brother taught her years ago. Her spirit lifts as she plays away, awaiting the arival of her students.

þieluar came walking against the Gazeebo with his Bassoon case held in his hand. He then said hello to Valanthe and sat down on a chair: He took out his basson and put the parts together. When that was done he started to play some high and brittle tones to match what Valanthe was playing.

Valanthe brought the tune to an end and smiled at her student.
"Good day, and might I say that wasn't too bad. Somewhat of a hard tune for a Basson to play, I daresay. Well, you're the first to arrive today. Just start warming up and we'll get started once a few more students get here."
She nodded and rested her flute on the bench beside her.

Valanthe looks about with dissapointment.
"It seems as if you are the only one to show up for class so far. Well, if so, I suppose we should get started."
She pulls out a peice of music from her pack and hands it to þieluar. It have many dotted quarters and eigth rythems.
"Do you think you can play this?"

Charmiana raced down the hill to where the others were playing.

"I am sorry I am late I slept in, I have not yet warmed up my voice so do you mind if i go in the woods to get ready. Am I late no one else seems to be here."

"I think I will be able to play this, probably wiht some mistaks tho" þieluar answered.
þieluar then put his Bassoon to his mouth and started to play it.
To play the tones were easier then he thought from the beginning and he was satisfied with that.
But he were dissapointed over all the problems he had with the rhytem. When he at last had played it he were neither satisfied nor dissapointed.

Valanthe nodded, a thoughtful look on her face.
"Not bad, not bad.... I noticed you had a few rythmic troubles here," she pointed to the eigth meassure, "No big deal, just try to remember to hold the value of three eigth notes in a dotted quarter. If there were more students here today I was planning on giving a more in depth lecture on note values." Valanthe took a breath and sang the melody of the song. When she was finished her face was a noticable scarlett color; she hated to sing in front of her students. She had not a poor voice, but she could get quite nervous when singing.
"Well, that's the very basic tune of the peice, and I apologize for the fact that you had to endure my singing voice today."
She grinned and looked back at þieluar.
"Any questions?"

Ponte

Ewen raced silently down the hill, her dress fluttering behind her.

"Lady Valanthe, I must apologize for my tardiness. I'm just a bit confused with this whole new timetable, i'm missing classes back and forth!" Ewen explained, still standing until Valanthe motioned for her to sit.

"Well, perhaps you should ask for help from your fellow classmates." Valanthe replied, trying to sound authoritative, but she understood fully. "Well, grab your flute and sit down."

Ewen nodded in agreement, and grabbed a shiny flute. She took her seat quitely, and put her flute together while Valanthe continued with her lesson.

"I wil excuse the tardiness of everyone's lateness this week because I understand you're having trouble adjusting to our schedule. However, I will expect better next week. We are out of time for today. I will see you all next Friday."
Valanthe took her seat again and put her flute in her lap.

Ack, where were all of my students?! :( Oh well, it's alright this week, I understand, but TRY to be on time next week, guys! Spread the word to those who did not show up! Kudos to those who did.

Ponte- You're doing well. Try to work on your English grammar a bit if you can, but you're doing well. :)

Ewen- As always, your RP skills are very nice. I have nothing to comment on.

CelebrianTiwele- I don't have much to comment on since it was just one short post, but it was a good short post

I HOPE to see you all next "week"!
