A very long time ago I saw one of Christopher Tolkien's books in a bookshop, one of the HoME books. On the cover it said it included the beginnings of a story JRRT never finished, about the return of evil to Gondor several generations after Ellessar.
Can anyone tell me the title of this book and/or story?
I hope I didn't imagine it!(entirely possible)

The abandoned sequel to Lord Of The Rings, entitled "The New Shadow", can be found in Volume XII of the History of Middle-earth, The Peoples of Middle-earth.

I never knew that!

Isnt there an account of LOTR by Sam, to his children, i believe that is in 'Morgoths Ring', i think.......

The two versions of the Epilogue can be found in volume IX, Sauron Defeated.

as i do not have HoME, why was this new takw abandond (sp)?
