I don't think they've started casting... but I really want Tom Baker to be Puddleglum again!

Some of the Narnia series were once depicted by the BBC, as a mini-series type thing.
Very enjoyable.
I remember my younger sister crying when Aslan met his doom. :)

I have two of the origional versions, the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, and Prince Caspian. I like them! I'm happy they are making new ones. I was just thinking that they should. I am kind of excited! :) I'll have to reread all the books.

This is great news! My kids have all the Narnia books and the four BBC videos. We have the Magician's Nephew on audiotape, but it would be great to see them re-done with modern technology and the other three stories as well. Let's hope they stick to the storylines. Cate Blanchett would make a great Jardis - tall, low register voice which can do 'scary'. She might not be up to the action shots in The Magician's Nephew, though.

I never really took to the books.
I obtained a copy of them, the same time i obtained LOTR, so thats probably why!
They paled in comparison! ;)

I dont think that does them justise, they are a very well written book, and for a time were my favourites, then i discovered LOTR, but they now take a very close second fave

The Chronicles of Narnia is a childrens adventure; The Lord of the Rings is an adult story. It is unfair to compare them as equals. My younger children loved the Lord of the Rings films, but much of it went over their heads. The Narnia Chronicles are exciting and accessible to a much younger audience.

But one could compare them with 'The Hobbit'.
And i dont think they match that high standard.

Again i disagree (im sowwy), but i think they do compare and TCON are in some ways better than The Hobbit...

Never is right! Don't dis Narnia! Narnia started my intrest in fantisy, thus leading me to love LOTR. Any way, Tolkien and Lewis were friends.
Why do all the good writers anicial their names?-- C.S.Lewis, J.R.R.Tolkien

Because they have weird names like Clyde Staples (I think) Lewis and John Ronald Reul Tolkien... who wants to be known by those names?

Jadis was played definitively by Barbara Kellerman, in my opinion. I'm more than open to a new take on the role, but it'll have to be somebody with the same power and commanding presence. As for The Magician's Nephew, I can't wait. Jadis is my favourite character in the books, and her role in that one is stunningly brilliant. I can't wait to see Charn.

Lewis is one of the most beloved authors of his century. I love all of the Inklings, including Lewis. The Chronicles of Narnia is an amazing literary achievment and I am interested to see it in a different medium. Weta Workshop that worked on LOTR also worked on Chronicles, so the armor and weaponry should be good. Its definetly at the top of my list for films to see this year. :) Vanya sulie-
By the way his full name was Clive Staples Lewis (not Clyde). Lewis didn't like his name much either, so he went by Jack instead. On the other hand, I absolutely love the name Clive...

HOLLYWOOD JESUS LAUNCHES
MONTHLY NARNIA COVERAGE
****************
For five years, Hollywood Jesus provided the most thorough coverage of The Lord of the Rings of any spiritually-oriented website. For the next several years, we expect to do the same for The Chronicles of Narnia—and the serious coverage starts today!
We begin not with The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, as did C.S. Lewis and his original audience, but with that book’s ‘prequel.’ Actually written as the sixth volume of The Chronicles of Narnia, The Magician’s Nephew documents the origins of Narnia, the magical land which the Pevensy children discover through the back of Professor Kirke’s fantastical titular Wardrobe.
Before documenting the End of the Tale in The Last Battle, Lewis thought it important to tell the Beginning of the Tale in The Magician’s Nephew. Honing in on this importance, the editors of some editions of The Chronicles of Narnia have even seen fit to publish The Magician’s Nephew as the first volume of the series.
Our purpose is pretty simple, however, as articulated by Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music: “Let’s start at the very beginning, a very good place to start.” And so, as we will see, we start with the sound of music. The music of Narnia.
Greg and Jenn Wright are joined by Kathy Bledose and George Rosok for the initial coverage of C.S. Lewis' seven Narnia novels. Bookmark our continuing monthly coverage, with new content the 8th of each month:
— The Magician's Nephew: Synopsis and Commentary
Also be sure to visit HJ's Narnia News Blog. We go to all the trouble of surfing the web for you, culling the wheat from the chaff and collecting all the news links in one place. Some recent posts:
— Narnia Misrepresented
— New Interview with Andrew Adamson
— Sure, the Parents Will Want to Go
— Screen Captures From Narnia Promo
God bless you.
Warmly,

Web Master, Hollywood Jesus.I use this website not just because it's Spiritual, but also because I believe it provides the most comprehensive range of independent reviews on all US releases (that's most films!), with trailers and links to main film sites. Also, Greg Wright is a keen Tolkienologist, so there's a huge Lord of the Rings section too.

As for The Magician's Nephew, I can't wait. Jadis is my favourite character in the books, and her role in that one is stunningly brilliant. I can't wait to see Charn. The role has gone to an actress called Tida Swinton, and judging by the photo I've found (see attached thumbnail), she looks a lot like Cate Blanchett.

Yeah, I just saw that woman in Constantine. She played the angel Gabriel, and I also thought she looked a bit like Blanchett!
From her performance in Constantine, I think she'll make a fantastic white witch!
Oh, and it's actually Tilda Swinton, not Tida. :)

Oh, and it's actually Tilda Swinton, not Tida. :)Thanks! I copied the name carefully from the thumbnail photo. I thought it was an odd name, but she is an actress....
