I think I'm going to be a bit depressed but I think I'm going to be looking for them to make more.
You see, that's the problem with something you anticipate for a long time. Once it's over it can be a bit of a bummer. I think of what it'll be like for the actors and everyone else involved when it's finally all finished. It's been a huge thing for all of them, more than any of us have experienced.
Anyway, it's not really over until the RotK DVD comes out. That's when it'll all be complete and there'll be nothing new to see.
But I'll still have the book, and I'll still have the DVDs, so I can escape to Middle-earth whenever I please. It won't ever really be over IMO.

Pretty much everything! I waited for those movies for so long and they were wonderful! I will be sad when they are over! Just wondering, do you think anyone will ever make The Sil into a movie?

It will be sad to see the end of ROTK's theatrical run. I am looking forward to the next HP movie, and now I hear they are going to make The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe into a movie, but at this moment, I can't imagine any movie that would be able to compare to LOTR. But as Phee said, we will have the DVDs to console ourselves with :)
Coutney, I don't know if New Line or anyone else will every film The Simarillion. It would be a very hard book to film, since it's basically many different stories rolled into one. However, Hollywood being what it is, it wouldn't surprise me if someone didn't try it.

They could make the Sil into a whole series of movies. PJ likes adding to the stories, so he could add a lot to them. Let's hope he does it!

I think I'll feel a bit depressed that it's over, but after all, there are still the DVD's. And I will be grateful that they made it into three such great movies (I'm sure ROTK will be great just as FOTR and TTT).

On the subject of the Silmarrilion, I don't think PJ will make it if the stories ever come to light - he's spent a hell of a lot of time on LotR and if he undertakes the Hobbit, it would be another three or four years. I think in the next 10 years we may see a series of Simarrilion films, but I think a different filmmaker will be at the head of the project - PJ doesn't have a cinematic monopoly on Tolkien.

I would actually rather have movies of the Sil, than of the Hobbit. I think it would be so neat to see the first elves and dwarves and the valar!:)

I voted for the "Craving more" choice because it pretty much sums up how I feel. I would love to see movie adaptions of The Hobbit and the Silmarillion, or anything else regarding Middle Earth. There is plenty of matieral to work with; I'd like to see some more middle-earth movies.

It makes me really sad thinking of LOTR being over. It came to me very suddenly, and what brought it to me will leave all too soon. The movies will end. The LOTR sections in all of the book stores will diminish. LOTR discussions that are all over the place will stop. There will be no one to get obsessively angry at. The final DVD will come out. Everything will end, except for my obsession and love for the books. I will feel utterly alone, and not a single person will have an interest in anything LOTRish I say. But I'll always have the books. I feel as if I can suddenly see that the time of the elves is ending. It is very sad. We still have ROTK, but not for long.:(

Don't worry! The people who truly love LOTR, not just for the movies, will always want to discuss it! I mean, what else do we ever talk about?! :)

I agree with a lot of you. I'll be kinda sad b/c its like the last part and there will be no more anticipating and excitement waiting for it. But then also I'll be thrilled to have waited so long and then finally see it!! I don't know... I would really enjoy seeing the Hobbit made into a movie. See I did things backwards- after TTT came out on video THEN i read the books! (all 3 in exactly 3 weeks!! as u can tell I loved them...) So I didn't get to "imagine" much myself since I had already seen the movies. RotK was the only thing I could start picturing myself (and the last part of TTT). I'm going to be really excited to see how my visions compared to PJ's in RotK (and the Hobbit if he or someone else makes it) and I can't wait!! Only 269 days left ;)
I would probally be craving more. I would want to have a Hobbit and other book that he made be made into a movie. I hope that PJ will start making a Hobbit so I won't have to wait a long time to see it after ROTK.

I will probably hope to see the extended edition and then I will watch all three of them one right after the other. Next I will look forward to possibly seeing the Hobbit, go reread the books, and wait till they bring out Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia which are coming out in three years starting with The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe in 2006. :) :) :) :) :)

The Chronicles of Narnia are delightful books. They were written for Children but as an adult I still thoroughly enjoy reading them and am very excited that they are bringing them to screen. Every time I read them I see a new hidden element of Truth and beauty that Lewis put into the story. I highly reccomend them.

They are both great books(LOTR and The Chronicles of Narnia that is), written by great authors who happened to be great friends. The Chronicles are the allegory everyone thought exsisted in LOTR but really did not, the Chronicles are strong allegories to the Gospel of the Bible.

well, i'm satisfied...it's alright to see the trilogy turned into a movie, but I guess that I want the others to stay as books. Yes, I'm that selfish...ppl who don't read the books can deal with there little selves for not wanting to read them and always wanting to see movies of what they don't feel like reading.
After ROTK, I'll have Star Wars #3 to look forward to (Late 2004/Early 2005).

Silmallarion would be quite hard to bring to the screen, though. Still! We want more Tolkien out for the world! haha... yes, i will be really dissapointed. I started loving LOTR a little before TTT came out on movie, so it was a quite late start. and now it's almost over, and it just makes it worse because so many more ppl got to ride the wave longer than me...:(

I'll be indifferent. While the films have been good, I hope he doesn't attack any of Tolkien's other works. I like The Hobbit too much to have my perception of everything destroyed. And turning The Silmarillion into a film isn't possible, unless you just focus on part of it.
So, I'll get by fairly well afterwards.

I have a small question. Why is it taking so long for the Two Towers to come out on vhs and dvd? I know I had FOTR before summer last year...

well, maybe there are a lot of deleted scenes they are adding? but that is the EE version...i dunno, why IS it taking so long to get the regular one out? I WANT MY TWO TOWERS!!! lol

That you did not. ;) FotR theatrical came out on August 5th (or was it 25th?), and the EE came out on November 12th. :)

I think I will feel excited...It's a magnificient journey through the story of the Quest of the Fellowship and the Ringbearer. After some time (watching the RotK for the x-time and the whole trilogy altogether;)) I think that it would make me sad (unless something else, new would come up).
Sort of mixed feelings, but excitement will be the dominating one(I hope;))
