I've been planning a Gandalf costume since last April.

I chickened out in December 2002......

I will be Gandalf The Grey on opening day in December 2003!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you like me? Do you want to be a mad Lord of the Rings fan?

Of course you would look silly....to people who didn't understand!
But you would be your favorite LoTR character, who cares!?
Dress up! (Have you seen the mad Star Wars fans?)

Who's with me!?? Who will accept the challenge set forth here?

I will go it alone if I have to...and if you do not join this action you will miss out on the greatest movie-watching experience of all time! Fah!....You don't want that!

Costumes are very easy to make...you just have to use your imagination!

I'm going as Gandalf..... Black boots, blue hat, cane, pipe.... Of course, he'll be grey...:D

C'mon! Where's the spirit? I know I'm not the only crazy Periaur in here....you know who you are! Let's plan something!!!

EDIT--->Lets plan something extraordinary! Let's band together or something! Who's with me?............................................... ..

Mehehehehehe!!!
Why is this too familiar to me? :D Darn, the surprise of the photo is been ruined, but it's worth finding a tween into sewing machines, fabrics and threads... You're lucky cause you don't have to desperately look for weird items as plastic feet and ears! Except for the grey make-up, which is not so strange to find anyways.

But what does this 'let's band together' thing?

Hehehe, get it?
I just meant to put our pictures in here, the only thread of it's kind!

Plus, since other people are too chicken to do it, I'm going to try to motivate others to dress up in costumes!

There will only be one chance to do this!!! EVER!

Heh-heh-heh! never thought this would cause so much curiosity! :D

Well, first picture, left to right, it is: Alejandra (my friends' school mate, who decided to join us), Bruno (aka Tamariz in the forum), Adriana (aka Kenshin in the forum too), Dave, Menchu and Menchu's sister -yup, the black stain pretending to be a Ringwraith! :p

Second picture it is Dave, Bruno, Adriana, an ent we kindly asked to pose for/with us, menchu and the misterious guy with the weird gesture.

menchu: I started this same thread in "stuff and bother"...I want everyone going in costume (it's not the first thread of it's kind *kicks myself*) to post their pics in-costume in that thread.

Is it OK if I copy/paste your pic up in that thread?
-->pleaseplease!:D Mine's coming soon!

menchu

Yeah, no prob. Just don't get yours confused with mine, I don't want people to think I have a beard. ;) :p

I didn't know you wore glasses - all the best people do! hehe.

Argh, it's because my teachers never get the projector focused. And when they do their writing is hieroglyphic.

He was an ent! He had loads of branches stuck in a kind of rucksack and he had a paper which read: 'YES! I am an ent. Do not ask me again!'. :D

I'm scared of your sister!
That will put you in my good book, heh-heh!

legoman
03-21-2003, 06:51 PM
haha,
you have a good book?
Which book is that then?

What do you have to do to get into a book as good as lord of the rings?

Man, this thread is the real and only answer! Get a bow!!

legoman
03-21-2003, 07:04 PM
haha, its funny you should say tat, cos a friend and I have been looking up and discussing how to make a proper long bow, I might make it a summer project of mine.
wow its like destiny saying 'make a long bow!!!'
except it isn't, it was menchu, who isn't called destiny, unless she's been lying to us!!! hehe.

Don't forget the ornaments and check some pictures by Alan Lee, John Howard and Ted Nasmith before you make the sketch. :)

As far as I am concerned I haven't lied!

legoman
03-23-2003, 08:33 PM
OK, I'll look them up.

I assume you just mean I should draw some nice pictures on it to make it more elf like. hehe. We tend to think of ornaments as like things you keep on a mantle piece, whihc would be quite funny to have on a long bow!!!haha, imagine a long bow with a vase on it, hehe.

sorry I was miles away...

Erm... draw some nice pictures of the project before you carry it away... that's a sketch, isn't it?

Whoah, Greek art on bows...

I want to dress up as Arianne the Dark Elf for our TTF convention...but I don't know about doing it for the movie thing.

We watched lame people do it at TTT opening. (Not lame cos they dressed up they were just lame to begin with...trust me.) And it kind of gave me the impression that EVERYONE would think I was lame like the lame people if I dressed up.

Hmmm

legoman
04-09-2003, 04:43 PM
heres a thought... why don't you dress up and then instead of hanging with the 'lame people' and instead of acting like the 'lame people' you act like you and hang out with us, therefor you would neither be lame, nor lame!

I think its worth a shot...

Snaga

I don't know... some of them were lame to begin with. Others were dressed up as hobbits. Hobbits are lame, so maybe it was just the costume? Who can tell?!

Cool pics Menchu!:D

Yeah... hmm... don't know how to take that 'thanks' after that discussion, hehe :D Nah, I like you expressed your opinions.

Personally, creating my own costume -all, I mean all!! you can't imagine how hard customizing the feet was! For the only ones I found were huge, like troll-alike, and I had to cut and paste and... oh, see, beating about the bush...
Well, I had fun and especially felt somewhat proud and pleased of my work, not to mention I went with my friends and kept it all in an atpmosphere of just having fun with something we really like. There was a costume contest, but I was late, so we couldn't participate -hahaha!

Oh you've gotto create your own costume, its cheating if you don't. My little sister used to win costume competitions all the time, cos she and mum made them and everyone else just hired them for the day! Making things is fun. You should have seen my Superted cape! Awesome that was!

menchu
04-11-2003, 09:39 PM
People hired the dresses (as if you setted up a costume business) or they prefered to hire your sister and mum dressed (as in TV advertisements)?? :D
One more: Who is Superted?

Oops, I forgot either to include '...' before the 'thanks' or change 'thanks' for a fitting sentence refering to Snaga's comments. *sigh* Disaster Menchu, head on the clouds.

P.S. There are some interesting sites to check if you finally go for creating it, Wonks.

Hmm, looks like Winnie the Pooh (yay the donkey!). Did you wear a bear head too? (note the three 'ea's)

Superted is so much cooler than Winnie-the-Pooh. Winnie-the-Pooh invented the fun game of pooh-sticks, but Superted saved the world regularly.

Of course I would argue that Bananaman was coolest of all, but I might be unusual in that respect

What's that about unusual? Orcs may have their heroes as well. And perhaps orcs do dress up sometimes (special ocassions)...?

HAH! Great idea!! :)

Hehe. I have ONE of you with a scimitar! And a whole bunch of you being evil at Mme. Tussauds. So HUSH! ;)

And thanks, Menchu! I think I'm going to just use normal clothes I have and make a cape. I can't afford to make a whole dress. *sigh*

*sigh*...my costume is gonna be simple enough...a grey cloak with a blue wizard-hat and a beard! black boots, and grey hair...wait, that's not that simple! I need a belt, too! jeez...

menchu
04-27-2003, 12:31 AM
And a stick! Hehehe. You could give it a cool shape seeing you have so much free time now.

Wonko, honestly, if you have a look at cloth shops you'll find bargains. I know an elvish dress needs more and longer fabric and more details, but... well... at least the cape will result cheaper that way.

I have to improve my dress as well. Last year I found myself involved in such a stress with all needing to be ready in days... that's why I was late. Anyways. Might work on a cloak and some weapons this summer.

nah, I just had the ears. Still I looked mighty convincing, and even if I didn't no-one was gonna argue with my cape!!!

Hmm, bananaman just didn't seem as realistc as superted to me...

 I will probably whittle a stick into a staff, maybe even bring it to the theater with me too, I'll have to ask the manager for permission heheh...if it's not ok, then a little magic wand and a "flask" of mirivour will do. plus a tiny satchel. NO WAY WILL I REMOVE MY HAT! ok maybe...

If I can get a sewing machine I'll make myself a new costume...but if not I'll just wear what I have.

I have a black sheet I can alter to be a cloak, and I have a velvet sort of corset top and a long velvet skirt I could wear...

I'd need shoes though...Or wait...no. My character doesn't wear shoes. :)

I wish I had Arianne's dress...or her leather bodysuit. :)
