Lions and other cats are by far my favourite things to draw - their beauty and individuality has always captured my interest.

Nice work Sophie :)
For a 14 year old, you have a talent which you should develop further. Real nice!!

Thank you for your compliments. Unfortunately I'm too young to be a professional artist. :(

how old are you?
are you thinking to become a professional?

I'm 14 years old - I might become a professional, but if I did I'd be doing something else as well, perhaps being a biological scientist, to earn enough money. Being an artist would be more like just a side profession really.

Excellent! You should consider a job with a zoo, or a wildlife publication of some sort!

I LOVE how that dog thing only has one eye!!!

is the star ment to look like a eye or something? is it is randomly there?

Hey that's cool! I like how it's got a star for an eye. It's got good shadows on the paws as well.
Argh, religious studies! I used to have them at my old school...our RE teacher was really nice & funny though.

I drew it by hand and then scanned it into the computer.
I'd post a computer drawing but they're far too large.

The lioness reminds me of Nala from the Lion King.
:) But the scanned bmp of the lion and the moon was too dark...
I couldn't see the lion at all. :(
*thinks it might be the glare on her screen*

When I scanned it it didn't come out too well...I just tried enhancing it in Photoshop, I think its a bit brighter now.

A bit brighter and I can tell it's gorgeous, but still too dark to see properly.

It's a bit brighter again :p I don't think I can get it any brighter though, because it starts to mix the colours in together if too much brightness/contrast effects are placed on it.

Also...the way you don't fill in the mane completely (the sillouhette effect I call it) gives a better impression of the lion superimposed on the moon image, and also there is a pensive look on his face...
As if contemplating the stars.
:) It's great!

Sorry I haven't posted in so long!
Here's another piece: usually the drawings turn out more successful than the paintings, but this turned out better than I hoped it would. I painted it in the holidays, to make it the holiday project.

That picture is GORGEOUS! :) And the story that goes with it is awesome!
I love the way the clouds are painted...AH! I wish I could draw clouds like that!

Thanks Wonks! :D The clouds took the longest to paint...I found it was best starting with light-grey but then blending with purple or blue to form the darker areas.

:) Gorgeous! I just started a watercolour project recently and I'm having a HUGE problem with it...:) I'll have to keep experimenting.
