If you have asked yourself any of those questions...I'm sure you are not alone. Therefore, I'm hoping this thread will answers all these questions and more.

That's a very good idea Elbereth - I've been doing something of a clean up in the RP forums of late and got rather confused myself. I think with this plan it's also possible to assign a number to all current RP's and find out which ones are still active, which ones deserve a place in the Smials, and which ones can be safely deleted. A worth while task in itself and one which make the forums a lot easier to navigate.

Name of RPG: Lord of the Rings a New Evil
Brief Explaination of RPG: Like the original LOTR except that Frodo has taken the Ring for himself and now the Shadow is hunting him.
Short Summary of Story: Saruman and Sauron have sent the Nazgul to the Shire with a host of Uruk Hai to find Frodo. The Fellowship is with a friend of Frodo doing much the same thing. The Uruk Hai and Dwarves met on a field of battle south of Weathertop. The Uruks were defeated but the Dwarves were as well when the 9 came.

Name of RPG: "After the Rings"

Brief explanation: A couple of hundred years after Sauron and the One Ring are destroyed, there are a few Elves still remaining in Middle-Earth who have not departed into the West. The two main bodies of these are the Southern Elves, living on the outskirts of Gondor near the borders of Mordor, and the Northern Elves, still dwelling in Imladris.

Though the Rings have been destroyed, evil is not distant. Long have the Southern Elves felt a shadow rising in their land, and now one has been selected to warn those of Rivendell regarding this new threat. This is still in its first stages: the journey North. There will be a great council at Imladris like unto the Council of Elrond long ago, and then many Elves and Men and others will be sent to warn the King of Gondor and any lingering Elves of the new evil.

Name of RPG: The Curse of Carasylia

Brief Explaination of RPG: A quest of seven riders to obtain a horde of treasure. One of the riders is being hunted by a demon, and the only weapon that can destroy the demon is in the horde.

Short Summary of Story: A young woman named Plamaya was seeking companions to help her obtain a sword from a horde of tresure in the North. The members of the company met at the inn of the Prancing Pony and set out together. On the East-West road when they were camping one night, they fought a handful of creatures that were men who's minds had been turned into those of a beast. This was caused by the demon Bloodlust. The riders have crossed through the Weather Hills, and upon decending from the hills discovered that a nearby town is under attack by Bloodlust's minions. They are now fighting the men-turned-beasts as well as other creatures of darkness.

Name of RPG: REDEMPTION #36

Summary of plot: Maedhros has been freed from the halls of Mandos to right a great wrong. His desire is to seek the lost sons of Dior and restore them to their kin. He is taken to the Grey Havens and meets up with several other Elves from Mirkwood. The Dragon Magnus, one of Ancalagon's brood is still living on the Withered Heath and happens to be in the area of the Ered Luin shortly after the arrival of Maedhros. He had fought in the Dagor Bragollach, recognizes Maedhros and determines to kill him. Magnus discovers why he is there however and begins to hunt for the twins himself in order to cheat Maedhros out of accomplishing his quest.

The company has met with wolves, Dragon-fire, goblins, spells and landslides thus far and are now on thier way to Mirkwood.

Name of RPG: the Great Quest to Pillage Barad-dur

Brief Explaination of RPG: set about ten years after the WotR, has a bunch of dwarves going on a private quest to Barad-dur to reclaim treasures stolen from them by Sauron. Through the eavesdropping of a barmaid at a tavern they stop by in Gondor, others are made known of the dwarves' plans and decide to either join their group or form one of their own.

Short Summary of Story: (As already posted to date)

Right now we've finished the part where the barmaid tells everyone about the news and one group has already left, trying to get to Barad-dur before the dwarves. The other people hwo want to go with the dwarves are about to meet up with them.

RPG NAME: CRIES UNHEARD
RPG #: 53

BRIEF DESCRIPTION: As the Shadow of Sauron is removed from Middle Earth, the cries of the two missing Istari, Palando and Alatar are heard. Therefore, the Valar decide to send one of their own (Elbereth) and Yavanna's son (Yavalda, soon to be called Hempdread) to find and save them. The rpg begins the year after King Aragorn's death and ends at current rpg time.

SHORT SUMMARY OF STORY (thus far): The Valar have held council and have decided the only way to save the missing blue wizards is to send one of their own. Much to everyone shock and disagreement, Elbereth volunteers to go on the mission...and but she shall go in human form, thus weakening her. Knowing the danger, Yavanna sends her son Yavalda to go with Elbereth on the mission.
As predicted by Yavanna, Elbereth takes ill upon arriving on Middle Earth, since her human form is not yet strong enough to hold her energy and power. Therefore, Yavalda brings Elbereth to Cirdan, so that he may watch over her while he continues on with the mission.
Watching over Elbereth, Cirdan begins searching for a cure for the sick Vala, and believes that an Elven witch in Forlindon can help. Therefore, Cirdan sails to Forlindon with Elbereth to search out this Elven witch...in hopes of finding the cure.

Description: The fair city of Dol Amroth was pillaged and burned by ravenous Orcs of an unknown origin. The survivors of the destruction are tracking these Orcs via ship, knowing not what lies before them.

Story summary thus far: The survivors, along with Dain Ironfoot, set out on the open seas, there was much anomosity between Urolokeo, the dark Elf, and Dain the Dwarf. They slowly began to repair their relationship from the wounds of the past wrongs and grudges. Love began to spring up between the two humans, Aden and Drusilia, and their first kiss happened on the deck of the ship for all to see. The ship was also attacked by Helenna, the pirate woman of the Eastern Seas, and some of the crew were killed, but the Rogue pirates were as well. Her death led them to an inhabited island in which Yagdrassil, the Maia of Undeath and Vile things, attacked them. They defeated him, and are on their way to continue their quest, nearing their goal with every passing day. Meanwhile, a renegade group of Orcs follow silently behind.

Ehh....if I may add to that.

Our quest, as Dain puts it, is to find from where the Orcs are coming from. We are using a boat and are trying to find (probably) an island that they came from.

As for some more info on the characters: Anamatar is herald to the prince of Dol Amroth, Galdor is the nephew of Cirdan from the Grey Havens, Urulokeo was raised by a dragon and is thusly naturaly shunned by her home folk.

And that new members are not accepted is not ENTIRELY true. It is a private rp and you do need to have permission to join but if you pm me I'll put it into consideration.

#55 ---> REMNANTS OF EVIL!

Explanation ---> About two years after the war of the Ring, the Mouth of Sauron gets a few REMNANTS OF EVIL! together to go create havoc. He's planning on gathering more REMNANTS OF EVIL! in the Misty Mountains, then getting rid of well, all of the good guys, I guess. just so there's a conflict, some good guys have noticed the REMNANTS OF EVIL! moving around again and are predictably after them.

Summary Of What's Already Happened ---> The REMNANTS OF EVIL! have left Mordor. A few have gone ahead and are terrorizing people in Osgiliath. The rest are catching up. The good guys are in Osgiliath, trying to deal with the first few REMNANTS OF EVIL!

#58 - "I Lanta Eriador"

Overview:

This is the tale of the War of the Elves and Sauron in the Secong Age, commencing at the year 1695. It involves the Rings of Power, the war that overran Eregion and decimated the elvish civilsation there, the shutting of Moria's gates, the formation of Imladris and the final defeat of Sauron with the aid of Numenor's navy.

What's Happened so far:

It has just started. Sauron marches in force north to attack Eregion and Celebrimbor having learnt of Celebrimbor's repentance and renouncement of his former teacher. War is brewing in the elvish realms of Lindon, Elrond is marshalling forces under Gil-galad's banner, Amroth is preparing in Lorinand, and requests for aid have been sent to Numenor. The land is scrambling to defend itself for the approaching storm.

Character profiles where necessary for created or lesser known characters, Durin for example as Dwarves are generally secretive folks, are posted on the discussion thread of the role play.

Level:

That's kinda subjective. It is a role play that focuses on collaborative writing. That means story telling, plot and character development that weaves with established history of Middle-earth. So, based on that I would say that it is advanced.

New Members:

This has just started, so the cast is still building. I'd love to have a writer for each of the historical figures as well as some constructed new ones. This style of writing or role playing may not suit every one and it is important that we each have a grasp of the history of the era.

So, I welcome and invite those who like the look of it to drop me a pm with your ideas to write for one of the historical characters or with your own character that fits with the time and style of the role play.

Explanation ---> It's about the blue wizards leaving their nice little cult because they have to run away from this defeated Easterling leader coming back from the War of the Ring. He noticed Gandalf there. He's not a fan of wizards so he feels like getting rid of these. When they run off, some Entwives come, too. They're planning on running to Radagast for help. There's also some Ent-friendly elves looking for the Entwives for them one last time.

Brief Explaination of RPG:This RPG chronicles the rise and fall of Morduniel, a fictitious daughter of Saruman, and a hobbit woman. He had this child while ruling the Shire. (See "The Scouring of the Shire" in The Return of the King.) So, she's going to go to the Shire after having been exiled, and she will take her father's place as it's "rightful" ruler.
Short Summary of Story: So far, Morduniel has just come to the Shire and is being dragged into an Inn by two hobbits.
Cast of character: Lots and lots of hobbits needed. One or two elves (maybe), a few humans from Bree, perhaps one dwarf
NO MORE ELVES AFTER TWO! Mainly in need of hobbits.
