This is an Outcast RP, it's open for every honerable Outcast and you are all invited. If you wish to join, just make a post in this thread properly inserting your character in the RP. Don't forget to mention your character's name and race. In the beginning, my characters will be Nimiol and Grur.
-----------
In the long lost lands of Madrera, lived a giant. Not a true giant, for those ceased to exist after the Hundred Year War, but a giant, and he was still a tad over 10 feet tall.
This giant answered to the name Adror.
Adror was wealthy. He had inherited much from his father, Adramor, who was the Lord of the Brown Lands. With the death of Adramor, Adror inherited the Brown Lands and became its Lord.
Adror lived in a castle, a huge castle. The castle was located in the middle of the Brown Lands right in the middle of the Night Forest. It was from there that he ruled his lands and patroled the borders. It was rare to see Adror leave the castle, but he did so every now and then, to see how his people and kin were doing and to assure all knew he was their Lord.
But the people of Madrera were not only giants, in fact, the giants were a minority. Madrera had a big population of men and dwarves in the cities and the cities runabouts, while in the wild lived man elves, gnomes and other wood-friend creatures.
But the giants were strong, and none dared to chalenge them, at least not directly.
But some did dare to steal from them, and some brave, or perhaps silly people, even dared to steal from Adror himself, from Adror's castle.
There was also an Elf named Nimiol. Nimiol was an elf who lived in whatever forest he felt like living. He was always moving because, besides an elf, he was also a theif and a bandit, according to the law of the giants, so it was never safe for him to spend too much time in one location. Nimiol had been persecued by the giants for decades, and in those decades he learned how to live as an outlaw, as one who had been outcasted form society.
Being tired of being an outlaw, and having lost so much because of it, Nimiol decided it was time to seek revenge. Together with Grur, his best friend, who was strangely a dwarf, and also an outlaw, Nimio formed a small group of bandits, whose mission was to invade Adror's castle, murder Adror and steal whatever valuable thing was possible.
In one rainy and cold night, Nimiol, Grur and their companions sneaked behind some trees close to the road that led to the castle. Their plan was to assualt two wagons that were going to take some food and goods to the castle, and enter the castle as if they were simply making a delivery.
Nimiol, from behind a tree, turned his to his companions and said - The wagons are comming, are we ready to go?

OOC: Why isn't this in the regular RPG section? We could have just advertised it here and stuck it in the the regular RPG section to show how great Outcast RPGs are. oh well. I'll be playing the compulsive liar of a smaller type of giant eagle named Knockondor and the tracker orc named Bugburz. They're not honorable. sorry.
IC: *Bugburz brandishes his sword and gets ready to jump out and slit the throats of whatever's driving the wagons* "Ready! I'll take the first wagon, elf!"
*Knockondor stands behind the rest of the group, looking miserable while superly wet* "The rest of you can take the wagons, right? I'll have enough trouble trying to fit inside!"

Once the wagons placed themselves within striking distance, Nimiol took his bow and fired and the two men who were driving the wagons. One of them died instantly, while the other fell on the ground and let out a scream of pain. Burgburz ran to the man on the floor and killed him with his sword.
From out of the second wagon, came a man, who was almost reacing his 50s. Afraid and suprised, he beeged to not be killed and Nimiol said - Run home, forget everything you've seen tonight - and that was exactly what the man did.
Nimiol looked at Bugburz and said - Here, dress some of these men clothes and take this potion. It will make you seem more human to the eyes of the castle's guards.
Bugburz didn't like it, but he knew it was part of the plan.
Knockondor wet in Burgburz's wagon while Nimiol went ahead in his wagon...

OOC: I am an elf named Treyar Nightwalker. I was disowned by my family for murder and have wandered ever since. I fight with magical twin scimitars. Can we call our band the Shadow Walkers or the Shadow Raiders?
IC:Treyar waits for Nimiol's on her steed, a big cat named Kear

*Bugburz watches the old dude run off, wishing he could kill him anyways, but stalks over to the Nimiol guy and points to the Dwarf* "Garn! Make him drive the other wagon, elf! I'm not drinking any potions you're handing me even if it'll get me into the castle! I can hide in the back of your wagon since the eagle's already got himself stuck back there." *hooks a thumb back at the second wagon where Knockondor is about to tip the thing over while trying to get himself comfortable*

OOT - no problem Treyar, but can you leave the Cat out of the RP, at least while we are in the castle?
- Bugburz, keep in mind you are here only because I allow you to be. You'll be gone once I find you useless or annoying - Nimiol and Burburz hated each other, but they tolerated each other's presence because it was necessary for the plan to work.
Treyar, on the other hand, cared not about anyone but himself and his Cat. He was as selfish as one could be and that was it.
As matter of fact, they didn't really trust each other, and it was a miracle such a group of foul bandits could ever be formed.
Nimiol and Grur took their wagons down the road, as the rest of the pack sit still and remained quiet inside the wagons. It took them about an hour to arrive at the castle's gate and the mere sight of the castle was breathtaking.
Having arrived at the castle's gate, Nimiol and Grur were told to stop, and so they did.
There were 6 human guards at the gate, and two of the approached Nimiol and grur, one to each wagon.
- Who are you and what brings you here?
- We are here to make a delivery. It was requested that we came here with some goods, and here we are. It was unfortunate that the rain delayed us for some hours, but the road is in a terrible state - answered Nimiol.
- Is that true dwarf? - asked on of the men.
- Aye, yes it is.
- And why would and Elf ever be working with a dwarf?
- Because we are both servants of Lord Harumar from Gaunchisville, who saved us from certain death in seperate ocasions.
One of the men walked to the back of a wagon and opened it. Bugburz recklessly killed the man on sight and it was then that a fight ecloded between the guards and the Shadow Walkers...

OOC: Should I bring Bugburz's profile over here? He wouldn't have done that. Too cowardly. oh well.
IC: *as soon as he sees what he's done, Bugburz ducks back into the wagon and shoots the next two humans close to him with poisoned arrows, then jumps out to see if they have anything valuable to steal, the other three guards are at the other wagon, Knockondor stays put, thinking that if he shows himself, he'd be an easy target for anybody with a bow and an arrow* to the Dwarf ---> "Go on! Get him, little guy! I'm kind of stuck back here. I'd love to help."
Ice Man
03-18-2003, 09:46 PM
OOT - Nah, you don't need to post his profile, just post something about how your characters behave, so we can know what to do and expect.
As soon as the first guard went down, the other five readied themselves to attack. Burburz still killed another guard before he hid back in the wagon and so Nimiol and Grur took care of eliminating the remaining guards. The bodies of the dead guards were thown into the back of the wagons so that none could find them.
With the guards dead, Nimiol searched their bodies in search for the the key to the gate. Half a minute later he found the key and opened it, letting Grur take his wagon in the castle and then he followed Grur in and closed the gate, keeping the keys to himself.
They took the wagons until the reached the deposit, once they were there, Nimiol took a small map out of his pocket and showed it to the gang.
- Ok then, we must be right here - said Nimiol as he pointed to the map - to go to Adror's domains, we should exit the deposit and walk towards this kitchen over here. From there we have to pass these halls and corridors until we reach the stairs that go up to the domains. Follow me.
Having said that, Nimiol led the group from the deposit and into the first floor kitchen. The group's plans were to first kill Adror and then steal his treasures hidden in the castle.
None took notice that, as soon as they entred the kitchen, some guards arrived at the gate and noticed their missing fellows. The guards quickly spread the news and began to search the castle for invasors...

OOC:Treyar is NOT selfish! Also, Treyar is a she.
IC: Treyar sends Kear away to find her brother, a hobby of theirs.

OOC: Yikes! Treyar sounds like a guy's name. oh well. Maybe you could toss her profile at me. Maybe the profile of that brother, too, if you gots one. Anyways, Bugburz is superly weaselly and cowardly and has no morals whatsoever, hates authority, but isn't stupid enough to rebel, only thinks about himself, stuff like that.
IC: Bugburz in the kitchen ---> "This is the kitchen. Now where? Ar! Why don't you just get me a copy of that map and I can get my own treasure? No way I can annoy you then, is there, elf?"
*Knockondor just flies from counter to counter, looking for something live to eat* "We leaving soon? Nothing to eat here. A giant will keep me full for a while!"

OOT - Sorry Treyar :( I hope this doesn't stop you from posting here :o
Having searched the kitchen and the counters, Grur found one small peice of meat and handed it to Knockondor, who calmed down a bit.
- Come, follow me - said Nimiol, as he rushed them to leave the kitchen. Nimiol then took them to a big dinning room.
There was a big long and tall table in the room, which was obviously suited for giants and not smaller people. There were 22 chairs around the table and on the table were a dozen of candles. Some candles were lit while others had completely burned out. It was deadly silent in the room, and it seemed as if it hadn't been used in a long time.
There were also some paitings on the room's walls, some which look disturbingly real, other that looked ugly no matter how hard one tried to find beauty in it...

Nimiol follows Knockondor who rushes through the open door. The door leads to a large and long corridor. As the cross the corridor, the pass some closed and uninspiring doors, which noe bother to open.
On the end of the coorridor is a circular stairway and they all followed it upstairs. Nimiol noticed how Bugburz was always last and decided to wait for him.
- Bugburz, don't slow us down. Things are strangely quiet and it's safer for you if you are around me if the giants get on our trail.
Bugburz gave Nimiol his usual look, and Nimiol ignored it, as usual.
Once they finished going up the stairs, they found themselves in a large room, much larger than the dinning room. The room was full of old funiture, some of it broken, some of it in one piece and all of it stone cold covered in dust.
There were no candles and no torches burining in the room, the only light came from the lightnings that were clapping together with the rain (that had evolved to a thunderstorm).
Another door, on the oposite side of the room opened, and two guards came in. Nimiol and his companions hidded behing one old and big closet, as the guards walk and chatted about some "strangers and missing guards"...

*The guards walk into the room, and stop right beside the closet. One almost steps on Bugburz, and the other has his back in Treyar's face. She jumps out and knocks their heads together, causing them to fall to the floor, unconscious. Treyar, with Bugburz's help, ties them up and stuffs them in the closet. Treyar locks the door with a rusty key that was on top of the wardrobe. She tucks the key into her belt pouch and brushes off her hands*

*Bugburz nods at the Treyar person and heads for the next door*
*Knockondor steps out from behind the closet thing that he wasn't really able to hide behind anyways, taps at the doors since he didn't notice it being locked, wishing that he could eat the guards, but jumps ten feet when he hears a thunder clap* "Uh, yes, let's move on, please! I hope we run into some more guards!"

Nimiol takes some gems and precious stones to himself too, and Grur stuffs his backpack with some valuable items. They all seem pleased, but the one thing that bothers Nimiol is how the guards were talking about the "stranger and missing guards".
- We are here to kill him because the giants have been telling us what to do for too long. The gems and jewels are just a bonus, but a very good on. Follow me now, and we'll return for more jewels later. I beleive that Adror's domains are in this direction.
Nimiol lead the band out of the room about 2 minutes before some 8 guards came into it looking for the "invasors"...

If you're still afraid that he'll tell you what to do, why don't you just move to some other country?"
*Bugburz stops and sneaks back into the room since he's not planning on sticking his neck out for others, but when he sees the guards back there, he runs ahead without warning the others*

Weak: But sire, we've scoured the building. No-one is-*gurgling sound*
Gruff: Fool! ~SLAM!~ There are intruders in my castle! And you are to find them! ~CLANG! CLANG! CRASH!~
*A scrawny man dressed in rags stumbles out the door. Armor has been put on him, bent to fit by something huge. A large sword is nearly overbalancing him, and, upon seeing the band, raises his arms in surrender, then falls to the floor in a dead faint*

- Knockondor, be quiet before I decide you are of no longer use.
Momments later Nimiol sees the armored man come in and faint.
- **** - says Nimiol, I have very strong reasons to suspect they are on our trail. Now we can't go back, and we won't be able to suprise Adror anymore... Follow me, the jewels we have are already worth enough, let's try to find a way out.
Nimiol runs leading the group, and soon they begin to go down some circular stairs. But their haste makes them too noisy, and soon some guards are on their trail.
They run towards one of the back exits, but they find their way obstructed by many locked doors and rooms that are not on the map.
Finally, after running in circles and with no destiny at all, they find themselves in the library. A huge library it was, with thousands ans thousands of books.
They walk through the library until they see a small creature sitting on a desk reading what seems to be a spell book. The creature puts the book down, and reveals himself to be a gnome. And then it speaks.
- Hello, my name is Tinkertea, The Librarian. I have magically locked the doors of the library and none can enter or leave this room without my permission. So I suggest you all take a seat and tell me who you are and what you are here for.
Grur tells their story to Tinkertea, making some many omissions. Tinkertea nods in understanding, and then, once the story is told says it's their time to ask him questions.

I had been expecting to see some reason for why they should stay. oh well. I guess I'll just have to keep them complaining and about to leave. Also, since when does Tolkien's world have gnomes? oh well.
IC: Bugburz, grabbing his sword and stepping forward ---> "Nar! Let me out of here before I skin you alive! I don't care about your books! I need to get out of here and sell this treasure! These other people want to kill your king, not me."
Knockondor, perching on a bookcase, superly bored ---> "No, I don't have any questions. Well, maybe. Where's the nearest window?"
Ice Man
04-03-2003, 11:18 PM
OOC - Tolkien never said there could not be gnomes, I was just trying to be creative
- The nearest window is over there, but you're not small enough to fly through it. The nearest exit is right through here (Tinkertea gives some directions and instructions to them). Since you are in such a rush, I shall let you leave, but don't think that leaving the castle will free you from your trouble, especially if you take those jewels with you.
- Shut up small one, we are leaving, and you will never again hear from us - said one impacient Grur - You gnomes are nothing but weak dwarves. I don't know why people insist on calling us distant cousins.
Tinkertea, outraged with Grur's remarks, made a swift movement with his hand and said some words, casting a spell upon Grur. The spell made Grur go mute and Tinkertea warned him it would last for at least three days, depending on how fast Tinkertea would forgive Grur for such insults.
- Leave before I do worse to the rest of you, epecially you sick creature called an orc. Where I come from, orcs are killed upon sight. And, as long as you carry these jewels, Adror's guards will hunt you... Beware...
- Let's go, we have nothing left to do here, and it's obvious we will not succeed in killing Adror tonight - said Nimiol.
And so the group left, following Tinkertea's instructions. In the mater of half an hour, they found themselves again out of the castle. They ran until they entred the forest. From there to the nearest city, it would be a 3 day walk...

just trying to revive this
After selling the jewels, the group walked outside the door and looked at each other. They new the adventure was a failure and they all had this one queston in their minds: "What next?"
It was then that, suddenly, the owner of the jewel shop came out and talked to them. He seemed to be very scared, at least, and possibly frightened.
- You, yes, you who just sold me some things. Come back in here, now. I must tell you something.
The group followed the man back into the store. After they were all inside, the shop owner, Mr Flanders, quickly closed the door and let the shades drop over the windows.
Then Mr Flanders took a candle in his hands and said to the group: "Do you have any idea of what this is?". He was pointing at one of the stones they sold to him.
- No. What is it? - asked Nimiol to him.
- This is the Red Stone of Fargor. The Stone of Fire!
None within the group had the slightest idea of what Mr Flanders was talking about. Grur, who could already speak again, asked what all wanted to: "So what?"
- So what? Is that all you have to say? Ignorant fools, this is the stone from which the legendary Red Weapons were made! The weapons made by Fargor, the Blacksmith! It is said that those are the finnest made weapons ever and that only great warriors can yeild them. And those who do yeild them are gifted with an imense and unimaginable power. Some even say that Gandalf ten Grey dedicates much of his time and travelling to finding these weapons, and that his true mission if to find them
- Why are you telling us this? - asked Nimiol.
- Because I am old, weak and slow. I have no family and none to trust. So I do not want this stone, for it will be uselss in my hands. But you may use the stone and venture into finding the Red Weapons. See, not much of the red stones are left in the world, but those who carry a substancial ammount of them might be guided, in their dreams, to the where Fargor guarded his stones days before his death. Here, take it back. I do not know what of this legend is true, and, even if it was all true, I'd never stand a chance at obtaining the Red Weapons.
Mr Flanders handed the stone to Nimiol and said - Keep it, if you have an awkward dream this night, it might be the stone telling you where to go. Ah, how I wish I had this stone in my posession 50 years ago.
Nimiol and the group left the tavern in which they would spend the night. The tavern was crowded, as usual.
- So, who'll join me for some little beer before sleep? - asked Grur.
- I will - said Nimiol - what about the rest of you?

After playing with the stone a bit, Knockondor handed it back to Nimiol.
- Yeah, it didn't make me feel only different - Said Knockondor to Nimiol.
Some time later three heavily armored giants arrived at the tavern. They were royal guards. The three of them came in and walked around the tavrn, looking suspiciously at everyone, as if they were trying to read what was on the mind of the people there. Then they came to the table were Nimiol and the group was sitting.
They stopped and styared at them for quite a while, saying nothing to them. Nimiol stood up and asked: "Is everything ok guard?"
- My business is none of your business - replied the ten feet tall giant.
- Oh, sorry. Please allow me to excuse myself, I wish not to intefere in your affairs. - Said Nimiol in a sarcastic and almost disrespectful tone.
Nimiol left for his room upstairs and did not stay to listen the guards' warning. The guards warned the tavern about the theives that had been at Adror's Castle and at how some items were missing. They wanted the theives dead or alive.
As soon as the guards left, the rest of the group quickly ran upstairs to find Nimiol, who was siting on a chair looking outside the window.
- I know what they said, those giants speak and walk so loudly I can hear them from miles away. I don't think this town is safe for us, but there is no reason for us to run away. Let's sleep here this night and continue with our affairs tommorow. I'll sleep with the stone, I hope it gives me some good dreams filled with gold and treasures.

Nimiol didn't sleep much more than a couple of hours that night, for he was at the same time concerned about the giants and about the stone. Still, he did have a somewhat awkward dream that night.
In this dream, Nimiol was running in the midle of the woods. The trees were very dark and close to each other, not a single sun beam would touch the floor. Somehow Nimiol giuded himself through the dark trees, he giuded himself in the direction of this weak red light, which was shining far in the distance. As he approached this light, the temperature got hotter and hotter and the woods got less dense.
Then, suddenly, Nimiol saw himself walking the road the left Fribula, the town in which they were, and went south towards the Blue Lake.
Early in the morning of the other day, Nimiol woke his companions up and told them about his dream. Having nothing better to do, they decided go south on the road that led to the Blue Lake...

We should just go to the nearest forest, of course! Check the place out. Isn't there some place called Mirkwood nearby? The road doesn't go anywhere near it. The dream was telling you that the red stuff is dangerous and we should go the other way. That's okay. You have me to help!"

Nimiol listend to Knockondor's interpreatation, despite not agreeing with it at all. He also listens to some ideas of Grur, but they don't seem to take him anywhere too.
So, in the end, Nimiol convinces the others that they should best take the road south, which would also take them away from the castle and the castle guards. The last thing Nimiol wanted was to encounter them again.
After riding down the road for a day, in a stolen wagon, by the way, the group arrived at a vry small village by the road. This village had nothing more than some houses, a couple of taverns and another couple of farms. The village was crossed by a river, the Lyndon river which came form the Blue Lake, but the lake itself was still some many days of travelling away from them.
- So, let's stay here for the night. I'll go find a room in a tavern and you can do whatever you want...
