Looks like someone had a camera up their sleeve on location.
It also looks like everything's in there.

LOL...all I get are little red x's! Maybe somebody tipped of New Line? :D

Mirabella dear, they're real long loaders, give them chance to dance. This is on someones free AOL web space, remember. Refresh helps too.

Failing that, hit the home page:http://hometown.aol.com/provencedaughter/myhomepage/lotr.html

and go in yourself via: Other Cool Stuff/The Return of the Ring Photo Gallery.

More good news too: BILBO definitely back in RotK (apparently PJ's favorite character).

I have cable, so downloading is not usually a problem for me. Oddly enough, if I click through the pages, an occasional pic does show up, but it's always one I've already seen elsewhere!

Could be IE is acting up ;)

Just a little piece of info: All but like 3 or 4 of the pics are gone, they show up as dead Picture windows, meaning they got taken down by Newline or someone. Heh i suppose its good, i don't wanna spoil it for myself and this'll help insure it. (and yes before you ask, i know what happens, i HAVE read the book ;))

Is not from RotK, but the movie called Willow.

So it's not just me :) I thought that picture didn't look like it came from ROTK, either.

Bizarre. The whole site's gone today. You know I wasn't making it up because you saw some of it. You missed out (or not) on some interesting stuff but the pictures were very basic and not touched up with CGI etc so it made the film look a bit flat and disappointing. Not the finished product more like someone's polaroids.

Maybe, the New Line Big Brother is watching.

nah it still works, i can get the pics....just takes ages

Michel Delving
03-16-2003, 07:19 PM
You're right Celebthôl, fit and working again. Damn, I was just working on my conspiracy theory!

Most interesting feature: Sam, back in the Shire holding up a baby. mmmmm?

And that Arwen slain Nazgul winged beast. Can't wait for that bit but I hope they get rid of the camper-vans in the background:D !

Celebthôl
03-16-2003, 07:44 PM
Where has Arwen slain the winged beast?

PRH
03-17-2003, 06:47 PM
That "big dead Nazgul" beast is actually a big dead Oliphaunt.

Celebthôl
03-17-2003, 06:51 PM
hahahahahahaha yeah it is, it so obvious, and i will laugh so badly if that truck is in the film aswell

Niniel
03-17-2003, 07:54 PM
Well, the pictuers that ARE real are very exciting! I can't wait for 9 more months....

Michel Delving
03-17-2003, 08:26 PM
No way is that an Oliphaunt. It's a newspaper clipping from New Zealand and describes it as a featherless bird under the heading The Battle of Pelennor Fields. Since when were there Oliphaunts at the Last Battle?

Niniel
03-17-2003, 08:35 PM
You mean the Battle of the Pelennor Fields (the last battle is something else, in which I'm sure there were indeed no oliphaunts). I think there were oliphaunts at the Pelennor Fields:
There came great beasts, like moving houses in the red and fitful light, the mumakil of Harad dragging through the lanes amid the fires huge towers and engines. From The Siege of Gondor.

Michel Delving
03-17-2003, 11:37 PM
Yeah the Last Battle was in Narnia:D !

O.K, O.K, The Last But One Battle. You could say the Penultimate Battle of Pelennor Fields (if you like).

It's still not an Oliphaunt;) ,

Mirabella

*pout* I tried yet again to download those pics...left the page loading while I went to pick up my girls from school. An hour later, and still only annoying little red x's except for a handful of exceptions. I think my IE is not compatible with Easy Designer :(

Michel Delving

Mirabella, why not download MSN Explorer just for the occasion or that Opera thingy ?

03-18-2003, 06:12 PM
I'll try and see in netscape.

Celebthôl
03-18-2003, 06:46 PM
since it said it in the book, and it is so an Oliphaunt, did you see The Two Towers? those spikey things is the tower...

Michel Delving
03-18-2003, 09:53 PM
NAZGUL! :D

PRH
03-19-2003, 12:03 AM
It's not a fell beast, the caption is wrong. Compare the battlements on the Oliphaunt from TTT to the stuff on this carcass. Also, we've seen the fell beasts and they're nowhere near this big!

Michel Delving
03-19-2003, 12:42 AM
Are we looking at the same picture?

What's a fell beast?

It's a Nazgul Ride as killed by Arwen in the book. The things on its back are not the Oliphaunt riding platforms but the extremities if the creatures wings.

Didn't notice that Mouth of Sauron picture before.

And Sam with his daughter, nobodies twigged. The end will be Bilbo, Elves, Frodo to the Grey Havens - Merry, Pippin, Sam (+ others if PJ flexes his artistic license) weeping on the shore. Then a gentle epilogue of Sam's Golden Years. Guaranteed.

Mithlond
03-19-2003, 02:21 AM
That certainly looks like a dead Oliphaunt.

And dont you mean Eowyn killing the Nazgul's fell beast, not Arwen?

Wouldn't MSN Explorer be practically the same as Internet Explorer? I don't know about Opera...I might go dl Netscrape, but then again, I probably won't bother. It's just a matter of time before more pics turn up on some of the other movie sites :)

A fell beast is a term for the Nazgul's winged steed.

compare:
Oliphaunt (http://www.decipher.com/lordoftherings/cardlists/twotowers/large/LOTR-EN04236.html)
Dead Oliphaunt (picture with the truck in the background) (http://hometown.aol.com/provencedaughter/photo4.html)

It has to be a Oliphaunt, on the right side of the picture you can clearly see a ladder hanging down.

I also can't get the pics to load... :( Oh well. However, I found some other cool pics at this (http://www.kojiroabe.com/rotk/index.html) website. They may be the same ones that are on that other site, but I'm not sure.

Michel Delving
03-19-2003, 08:54 PM
Yes Mithlond: Eowyn not Arwen. DOH!

So many names, so little time.

I always wondered what them big birds were called, thank you PRH.

Apart from that you are all crazy or on a wind up clown. IT IS A FELL BEAST the byline underneath even says Bird Battle. It was one of my most vivid memories from the book that scene and I don't remember NO OLIPHAUNTS !

PRH

LOTR: The Siege of Gondor
There came great beasts, like moving houses in the red and fitful light, the mûmakil of the Harad dragging through the lanes amid the fires huge towers and engines.

LOTR: The Battle of the Pelennor Fields
But wherever the mûmakil came there the horses would not go, but blenched and swerved away; and the great monsters were unfought, and stood like towers of defence, and the Haradrim rallied about them.

Michel Delving

It's still the aftermath of the Nazgul beast's death in the film.

This is a never ending story.

Let's wait for the film. If you see a dead Oliphaunt give yourself a hand if you see a black winged beast remember me. :p

PRH
03-21-2003, 12:39 AM
I think rather than wait for the movie, just admit you're wrong now!

Try this one on for size:

http://www.numenoreen.com/viewpic.php3?image=Images/oliphant.jpg

Look familiar? Let me remind you:

Melko Belcha
03-21-2003, 12:47 AM
Oliphaunt it is.

Michel Delving
03-21-2003, 09:19 AM
No it's not!:p

Observe: -
Dead Bird (http://www.boomspeed.com/nonkey/dead_nazgul.jpg) click 'ere.

The file is even called dead nazgul.jpg and I didn't name it1

Melko Belcha
03-21-2003, 05:09 PM
I don't care what the picture is named, compare the wings in your pic with the wreckage on the other, clearly the same.
Look for detail and not the over all pic.

PRH
03-21-2003, 06:00 PM
Michel Delving is just screwing around with us. He knows it's really an Oliphaunt and just wants to get our goat....or there's some severe level of denial here.

Michel Delving
03-21-2003, 08:12 PM
I'm sorry, but I'm afraid the denial is on your part.

As you can see from my evidence you are clearly mistaken.

And I must also add that my reference to Head in the picture should have been neck (or more accurately stump) as Eowyn decapitates it. One for you purists there. I'm surprised you didn't spot it!

Can't wait to see how Sauron handles that truck at the battle.

Handbrake turn on Theoden's foot?

PRH
03-22-2003, 02:50 AM
So you deny that
http://www.numenoreen.com/viewpic.php3?image=Images/oliphant.jpg
and
http://www.numenoreen.com/viewpic.php3?image=Images/battle4.jpg
are different angles of the same subject?

Elendil3119
03-22-2003, 02:59 AM
Michel Delving, stop pulling our collective chains...:D Both pics are obviously Oliphants. Battle4.jpg it an Oliphant. You can clearly see the platform on top that orcs were shooting out of in TTT.

Mithlond
03-22-2003, 03:16 AM
Michel Delving, so what if the file is named "battle bird" or "dead Nazgul" or whatever, that is not an official site and the people maintaining the site are just taking a guess at what they think it is, they dont know for sure.

It's obvious its an Oliphaunt, the same Oliphaunt that PRH has shown in his comparison picture post. Your image is just not as bright, and as a result its skin looks black like a fell beasts.

Lastly, look how enormous that thing is, a Nazgul sitting atop that thing would look like an insect on its back, then compare to the Nazgul on its fell beast in the two towers film, the fell beast isnt nearly as big as the creature in your image (comparing it in scale to the truck in the background).

And lastly, do you honestly think Eowyn would be able to hew the neck of a creature that massive, she would have to be some super human giant to do so.

Michel Delving
03-22-2003, 10:04 AM
Yes I do deny it, PRH, and would defend it in a Court of Law. The highest in the Land!

Elendil3119, not obviously Oliphaunts at all. I think you'll be eating your Wizard's Hat instead of Popcorn Surprise when you see the movie.

Mithlond, a well thought out and incisive post but also completely riddled with falsity and inaccuracy!

Please admit that you are all as foolish as a Took.

Cool pix, and way too much chatter.:p

PRH
03-22-2003, 06:29 PM
This guy is great - he's killing me! (with his denial that is, real or faked as it may be, not his reasoning).

Well, if you're kidding - well done, you've really got me going. If not, I don't think it's possible to change your mind at this point. When the movie comes out, and we see this tremendous Oliphaunt finally crash to the ground in the very pose the pictures show you're sure to just reinterpret what you're seeing - "oh, that was just the scene quickly cutting to the dead fell beast, even if Eowyn hasn't killed it yet!"

Elendil3119
03-23-2003, 04:52 AM
Yeah, if you're kidding (which I bet you are ;) ), then you're doing a good job! :D In other words, *whatever*.

Sam_Gamgee
03-23-2003, 07:49 AM
those dont look like wings............infact it kinda looks like metal....maybe its black giraffe of death.....i know its not a nazgul steed....but it doesn't its black......but i think it looks alot more like a oliphaunt then a nazgul steed......and who cares what the press thinks...i bet the writer never even saw the movies let alone read the books.

and also if you look at the pictures......on the so called nagul bird one theres a balck spike coming from its head...and then if you look at the oliphaunt....theres the same thing but you can clearly see its a tusk.....
