This is the thread where anyone who wants to talk about the guild website may do so and also everyone may add there own bits and pieces to it as they wish.

PS do we have any allies in the ttf yet?

It would have some advantages, but it would be a lot to maintain. . .and really what would we do there? Still, it would give us an edge. We could try it out.

you guys are sad...here is a good question...why not have one!!!
we would get a lot of publicity on the web and also it would give us the kind of publicity and esteem in ttf that the other guild dont have.
it also gives us an edge in our rpgs especially the wars

I seriously don't see how a website would give us an RP advantage. You really haven't specified what you think would be good on this website. Just having a place for pretty pictures and slogans would be fairly pointless. Are you thinking something more sophisticated such as a chatroom? That would give us some advantage but we do fairly well with message board discussion.

Most websites that have been created by friends of mine have been rather inane. However, I am assuming you must have some sort of experience. Most of us are probably thinking you mean a little geocities site and I've had bad experiences with those.

You really need to clarify what you mean before you start calling people "sad."

yes you have a point,
but i have to define 'sad'
sad - not even going to help me with any designs or what to put on to it, but are just going to slash my idea apart with out even having second thought.
i am sad that i dont even get to have a few good ideas from some of my ttf friends.

that is what sad means to me, but if you guys dont what it and i am the only one that even has a slight fancy(even if is is a bit geocites style) then fine and i am going to have a cry for a couple of days.

I am not a website designer myself, so I have no idea what is in our capacity. . .So I'm afraid I won't be able to give you any ideas. . . The only thing I could think of is a Ranger Picture album, with real and drawn pictures, but we could just as easily have that here.

aDaHe

then why not...
this is what i really whanted elgee...
ideas, dispite the fact that we can have it all here i would also like to have it on the internet aswell just because we can and that is the main reason - also i am sorry for geting kinda mad at you.

A Ranger Photo Album would be a good idea just for this guild space. . .might give us some energy. . .WAIT!

Going to go make it.

You know what, if anybody does do a website, I volunteer to mantain it. Mantaining websites can be fun! Of course, you could do a group on MSN for free, and it wouldn't be a website, yet it is a cool kind of demi-website. That way, you could decide whether you wanted a website. I could set it up, too, if anyone wants me to.

aDaHe

that would be great, except i dont know what the heck your on about...
tell me more...

Well, you see the link? That is a group on MSN. It is like a demi-website, and the one I have listed is basically my best froends from school. We go there to share photos of Legolas, talk about him, and talk in the chat room. It really is a neat thing. If you want me to start it, I could do that, and then put up a hyperlink. Just give the OK, and I am on it. Aw, I'll just go make it now.

Great, EG. . . You're off to a good start in this group.

Tell us when you're done.

Alright. It is completely finished! Here are just a few things about it:
-It is using trust moderation, which means you moderate your own replies.
-It is right here: Guild of Rangers (http://groups.msn.com/GuildofRangers)
-When you join, just put I am a TTF person in your profile, and I will immediatly make you an asst. manager.

HLGStrider
05-02-2003, 05:04 AM
I've already told you, A. I don't know what you are capable of doing with a website, so I don't feel comfortable telling you what I like on a website. I would like one if we could do things we can't do here on it, but otherwise it seems redundant. So. . .I think the ball is in your court. Tell us what you can provide. . .or does anyone else have experience in these matters who can tell you what they want?

HobbitGirl

Well, the posibilities are limitless as to one can do with a website. I have family members who are quite skilled in all sorts of webpage building, so we can do basically whatever we want. But the REAL question is: what do we want? What would be the purpose of a Ranger website? Would it be promotional, just to increase publicity, or would it be an extension for more roleplaying? Would we want a chatroom, would we want a message board, would we want a gallery, what do we want? We need to decide on CONTENT before we decide on BUILDING.

Thomas Baggins
05-03-2003, 08:13 PM
"I wont duck and run cause I'm not built that way" Ooh I love it! great sig HG!
anyway just wanted to put in my two cents, whuch are No chat-room on site!, if we have one. *deosn't like chat-rooms, deosn't know why*

HobbitGirl
05-03-2003, 08:51 PM
The quote is from a Three Doors Down song. <listens to the song with ecstasy>

No chat rooms, eh? Well, I can see why you might think that...what with so many people selling things and spreading viruses over chatrooms...definitly something to consider.

aDaHe
05-05-2003, 12:06 AM
this is what i want to know...what do you want and then i can get moving...my uncle does this and he has let me in on a few secrets...

the biggest one is this...

know what the hell you are doing

so no chat/message board...

HobbitGirl
05-05-2003, 12:11 AM
Ok, then. No chat or message board. Personally, I would love a chatroom, but if you don't think it'll work... Well then what is the purpose you want for the site, aDaHe?

aDaHe
05-05-2003, 12:16 AM
i dont really know...i have a few ideas, but mostly just for us to have a bit of publicity and fun on the net...

Thomas Baggins
05-05-2003, 02:46 AM
Yeah I was just thinking wouldn't it be great if someone typed in The Rangers Guild in Google or something and up pops are site, I think it'd be so cool to have a site for guild especially since none of the other guilds do. Besides we have to be the first, "We're The Rangers of Tolkien!!!" :D  :D

goldmare
05-27-2003, 04:21 AM
It would be cool but we don't really NEED it...I don't know. Maybe. But the whole transition thing would be confusing and annoying for some people. Would we still be here on this site, or would we separate entirely? Frankly, I like not having to hop from site to site in order to post on Rangers and the next second post on something else Tolkien...besides, if we get our own site, does this mean that the other guilds will too? This could be one big project we're starting...

Sorry to sound the pessimist, but would it really be as cool? I like this site, to me it really wouldn't be right to separate completely. If we do get another site, let's at least keep something on this one, or have a link, or something. :(
