Sword dancing

[Scatha]

The Hall of Rowan had an almost mystical atmosphere, with runic carvings on the wooden beams that support the ceiling. The wooden panels on the walls are covered with carved rowan withies, loosely woven into an interlaced total. In the corners of the Hall stood tall rowan bushes, with its red berries forming a spectacular view. The white marble floors contrasted with the red of the rowan berries.

Directly in the center of the Hall, Farathorn stood and stretched his muscles, as a warm-up for the class, whilst he waited for the students arrival.

Lorien walked in,relived to see that she had not been late for another class. She was donned in a black cloak and wore a heavy sword around her waist.Seeing Farathorn , she quickly walked over adn said"good day m'lord"

Adlyn walked in truly hoping not to be late,she was wearing her long gray skirt and white canopy as usual, and her sword was under her dress as always so no one would steal it,she looked around the magnificent hall,and took her seat in the front row.
"Good evening M'lord"

[Scatha]

Farathorn nodded towards the students that had just entered, then replied them calmly.

"Quel re, we seem to be two students short. I shall continue as they have arrived. For now I suggest you stretch your muscles somewhat and warm up."

Lorien sat down on the floor, next to Adlyn who she knew quite well. She streched both her legs out and bent down so her ear was at the floor. After that she put one leg across her other and heard her leg crack.

Farathorn raised a brow at the cracking noise and looked at Lorien. "Now don't tell me you wanted to get out of this class so soon." He grinned slightly and approached the woman. "I don't think you broke anything, but merely forced it a bit."; He said after a quick examination.

Adlyn finished strecthing but pulled out her sword from under her skirt,because it was hurting her thighs,then she layed it down beside her and sat up ready for class to begin.

Chamriana came her sword Kleissan at her side. She had exspirience in the sword. Actually she even had exspireince in the sword here in Heren Istarion, but that was besides the point. She was late for class (she had made the decion between being late or coming in a dress.

She giggled slightlyand smiled at him."Thank you" she got up "It felt good" she put her hands on her hips, waiting for the class to begin .She walked over to Adlyn and said"hello" .She then got out her sword from her backpack

Adlyn looked up smiling,"Hello lorien",she said before scooting over to give lorien and her room to sit down,then she leans over to whisper to her,"So what do you think sword dancing going to like?"

i don't know If it's as fun as archery or the Inn then it's my new favorite class" she winked and smiled confidently. SHe pulled ehr sword out of the sheath and exiamned it "ahh my old friend" she whispered as she saw her reflection in the blade

Whispers back,"Yes I agree, and I can't wait for class to start",then her string around her hair broke and her,hair came out,"Oh drat,hey lorien do you have an extra?"

"You bet' she said , handing her a rubber band form her wrist"i know " she said keeping her eye on Farathorn and the others that were in class.

Farathorn greeted the late arrivals and drew his swords from their sheaths, then proceeded to place them on the ground in front of him.

"Let me first explain what sword dancing really is about. This form of art has two functions. It is a means of expression in a dance, while serving an alternate purpose as well, namely that of a fighting style. The elves amongst you are in a slight advantage, due to their inborn grace and agility, but that can be compensated for."

He crouched down and picked up both blades, then twirled them around in his hands.
"By keeping your moves as fluid as possible, preferrably in a random pattern, you will learn to give your opponent little to focus on, let alone hit it. In the meantime, you will improve your balance and agility, which will no doubt look impressive when performing the visual aspect of this art."

OOC: Reasonably good posts, everyone. Try to describe your characters actions a little more between the spoken lines. And watch the use of punctuation and exclamation. :)

Because this class started too late due to the lack of turn-up, I will prolong it until Friday (irl).

Adlyn quickly ties her hair together, before she gets onto her feet and raises her sword,and practices the twirling herself with her sword,then she soon stops and pauses to think, sheaths her sword and then raises her hand with a question.

"Now that I have learned that sword is not only an art but a dance,I was wondering how your opponent will respond to it?"

Lorien ,inspired by Adlyn's sucess tries herself. She picks up a sword and starts to twirl it. She spins clumbsy a while trying to get her balance. She then turns the wrong way and strains her wrist painfully.

[Angoreth]

Fair haven walked into her class wearing her black cloak in witch hid her elven sword from view." Am I to late to take this class?" she asked as she walked around lorien as not to get hit,"Do I have to come at a different time?" she asked as she approached Farathorn.

[Scatha]

Farathorn nodded at the late arrival, then replied in a calm tone.
"You can join the rest in their exercizes."

He turned to the rest of the students, then spoke up.
"Your opponent will probably get confused, since the target will move irraticly and is a small target."

He walked to the open spot in front of the group.
Slowly he began to move, his swords held in each hand, gradually he moved as if performing a dance. He turned around his axis, then jumped up and landed in a crouch, while he twirled his swords around once more.

"These movements are a basic part of the dance, thus should be practised regularly."

Adlyn nods at trys to imitate the move carefully,but stumbles alittle,but cathes herself.

"Alright so most of this is basic,I want to know when we'll be ready to move on to a more advanced level?"

[ms Greenleaf]

In her graceful manner Charmiana twirls and then strikes like an anaconda -deadly and beautiful. Everymove carefully calculated. She had been sword dancing since she was old enough to lift the smallest knife. The only things she has ever gotten very good at were Sword dancing and Hand to hand combat.

Her sword and her knife are are being twisted so quikly now as she gets momentom that they multiple her. She hits randomly. JUmping she flipped backwards and landed crouched and ready for the next move her 'opponnent' would hit at her. This is not just an art for her... this is how she fights.

Although she had not done exactly as the teacher she felt that he would accept this performance

Finally Charmiana stepped back to let the others have a chance.

"Will we be doing something a bit more advanced soon...after we have reveiwed for I definetly need reveiw..I skimped out on practise yesterday."

Farathorn turned to Adlyn and replied calmly.

"As soon as you are able to perform the basics, without stumbling, you will proceed to get advanced training."

He smiled and nodded towards her, then turned and faced Charmiana, with a grin he spoke to her.

"Very nice, but still eligable for improvement. A backflip can be hazardous, because you leave your back open to your opponent, who only has to thrust further forwards to hit you. I suggest to use a backroll instead, as it keeps the surface they can hit a lot smaller."

Lorien looked around at her classmates. They were all so good at this. I'll just have to practice more she thought. Silently, she picked up a sword and started to twirl it . He clumbsyness slowed her a bit but she conpleted a twirl without injuring herself or anybodt else for that matter , so it was a Big accomplishemnt in her book. SHe looked aroun at her teacher and classmated for approval

Adlyn clapped her hand for Lorien who had successfully completed is wonderfully,and then walked up to her to shake her hand.

"Good job Lorien!"

Lorine smiled at Adlyn ,proudly. She was indeed for once in her life proud and feeling satisfied that she was good at something

"Ye s Scatha that is a habit I will have to break. I first got into that when I was very young and all my teachers towered above my to get a proper shot in I had to go higher...guess I do not have that problem now. Thank you for your advice."

She watched Lorein ...she improved drastically.

Fair haven walked over to Farathorn" I do not think I should be in this class, I am not good at sword dancing" she said low.

Farathorn shook his head gently at Fair haven.
"You don't need to be good at it, after all that is what this class is for, to teach you to become good at it."

He calmly pointed at the rest of the class.
"Besides Charmiana, all students here are only starting to learn the skill. You are not out of place here.

Fair haven shrugged her shoulder's" yes I guess that is what class's are for" she said as she went in a corner to practice where no one could see her.

Lorien called to Fair Haven " trust me I'm not very Good either!" . Lorien had gotten conifedent(sp?) and with this ,she also got very clumbsy. She carelessly twirled the sword with her left hand ,not watching where it was going. She brought it a bit to close to her and cut a slice on the left side of her face."Great"she said "Another stupid scar to add to my ugly face!" she kicked the ground angerliy and put down the sword.

Fair haven came out of her coner" here apply this to your cut and you other scar's and by the time you wake up they should be gone" she said as she began very slowly to flip her sword in her hand to get a better gripp, then slowly began to spin as to get the feel then stopped" o.k. I have done enough for a few minuts I think some one else should go" she said sa she sat down next to lorien.

Lorien handed the cream back :"It's ok" she said " I keep all the scars ... to remind me of all the mistakes i have made" she carefully traced the cross shaped scar on her other cheek. " Most of the scars have been just for little mistakes like falling out of a tree or getting bit by a dog but this one" she pointed to the one on her face" this mistake cost me the love of my life" she looked down at the ground and then got up adn started to practice

[Scatha]

Farathorn proceeded to the center of the room and raised his voice. The half elf's tred was almost soundless, but determined as well. He turned towards the students and said what he had to say.

"Allright, that is pretty good for the first class. I wish to see you all here again and on time for the next class. Practise the basic moves until then. This class is dismissed."

Calmly he walked to the door and opened it widely.

Fair haven inter the class" well I have practiced... I only hope That I have emproved" she thought to herslef as she took a seat on the floor and went over the movements in her mind.

Lorien rushed into class. She skidded across the floor and hit the wall. "not late, Not late" she panted as she struggled to regain her breath. She turned to Fair Haven and asked "i'm not late am I?" she dropped to the flooor in a tired slump.

[Angoreth]

"I do not think so?" she said as she sat down next to her friend with a smile"although farathorn will kill you for the skid mark you left unless you clean it soon" she said with a laugh as she poitned to the long line across the floor where lorien started to skid.

"Ohh that " she said ,embrassed at her clumbsiness. She walked over and knelt down. With the sleeve of her tunic, she carefully started to rub at it. After awhile ,it slowly started to come off. But it made a big dark stain on her shirt."Oh this is great I can't do laundry!"

[Angoreth]

"here" she said as she hlped Lorien stand" come with me, before class starts" she said as she lead Lorien over to th sink," place your tunic with the stain under the water" she said as Lorien did" I hope these stains you wish not to keep" she said with a smile." now then" she said a sshe poured a light green liquid on the sleeve of her tunic" and rubbed the tunic a bit...and there with a rinse all gone" she said as loriend held up her sleeve and looked at it." Handything this is" she said as she replaced her bottle back in belt strap.
