I suppose they deleted all the inactive accounts; they do that every once in a while.

Yes, we had about 300 members who registered and then never confirmed their account, and like 200 who did, but never posted. There's gonna be a lot of spring cleaning soon, and more than likely some board changes, including the C9 being started, and post counts dropping as we clean out old threads.

What sort of threads are being deleted?
Obviously a lot of S&B would be, but what else?
RPGs?

I'd hope that before any major threads were deleted, the mods will inform the "riff-raff" first.

Oh, mostly just the little short threads in the backs of the sections nobody really paid attention to, and threads that have served their purpose and need to go... and yes, we'll prolly inform you of any major deletions.

Oh so thats what happens I was wondering why my first post saying I was new is gone and I never knew why,but its good to know now,but wait do you get rid of accounts from people who posted like 10 times and then just disappeared?

Yes, we give them about 3-4 months to come back, and if they don't, we remove their accounts.

And I try to keep the New Members section down to one page, so it gets pruned a bit more than the other sections.

yea, there are a LOT of forums on here with 2-3 pages of threads where nobody has posted for months, so it's a good thing, lol;)

Please, can I just ask a favor?

I know you may not have time but could you notify us before you delete any threads that we've devoted a lot of time on but which you might consider sort of worthless.
I know there are threads on here, mainly in the Inns or S&B that get a lot of posts but don't discuss much.

Some of them have conversations I'd like to save. So if you could tell me before you delete anything like that so I can copy them and save them to my computer I'd really appreciate it.

I learned the hard way when some posts and a thread or two was deleted before I could save the convos and it actually really upset me. :(

Oh, and WM promised me he'd "protect" the threads having to do with my engagement. ;) Thanks.

*sniff* That reminds me of the songs Legoman and Merry dedicated to me in their joyful, young days... *sob* *asks wonko for a kleenex*

Tsk, is there any chance to find 'lost files'??? Where was that thread with a link to old forum erm... whatever the noun is... :D

I'd really appreciate it if a mod could respond to the post I made and the things I said. :)
Thanks!

I've actually stopped the mass pruning of posts and threads. We lost too many good threads in the process. Now, I only clear out inactive members, who have join, but have posted less than 10 posts, and not logged on in the last 90 days. I do this quarterly.

Feel better? :)

Oh yes! Much better!
Thank you!
:) We are all very pleased!

And Snaga, who is on the phone with me and who I am reading this to says: "Yay! Go him!!!
And also: "It's great when when member's wishes get responded too. :D :)"

Thank you WM!!! *curtsies graciously*

That is a good idea because these threads are actually the history of the forum, and someday after a long time some of use will read old threads and will think "OMG how much I have changed since I posted that.... or that."

I like to use it to look back on the beginning of my relationship with Snaga...

I was so upset when one of the threads that had some of our first posts on it were deleted and I didn't have a chance to back them up.
:(

It was sad.

I don't have that window to look back anymore.

The good thing about the new RPG site will be that there will be more space for non-RPG threads on this forum, so less of it will be deleted.
Yay for the new forum.
(Although I reckon it would be a good idea to put a link to the new RPG site on the TTF main page as so it doesn't feel so seperated from here)

There's already a link to TTF from MERPG...I guess changing it is a good idea....
I'm just resistant to change.
