View Full Version : Which Elf am I?

Lasgalen

I would like to start a game called "Which Elf am I" I would say something like "I was in the fellowship" and someone would answer
"Legolas" and go next. Would be a good way to learn more about the Elves as no doubt some of the posts will be hard. I will start with an easy one to get the ball rolling.

My father remarried, giving me two half-brothers.
Who am I?

OK,

I was almost killed by a dwarf, but was eventually slayed accidentely by my best friend.

I have a feeling you mean Luthien...but Doriath wasn't exactly hidden. Morgoth knew where it was but because of the Girdle of Melian he couldn't get there.

Yes, that is correct,
Since you shaln't be asking the next question, I might as well.

I imprisoned a King of Durin's Line in my dungeons. In those same dungeons I imprisoned a 'sneaky' character.

Maeglin

that is excessively easy, Thranduil.

I assisted several Hobbits in a time of great fear for them while being pursued by men in black in their homeland. (very easy, I know)

Aulë
04-06-2003, 07:51 PM
lol- That would have to be Gildor.....

"I became King after a secret place was destroyed"
(another easy one)

Maeglin
04-06-2003, 08:11 PM
lol- that's Gil-Galad.

I was buried in a mound of stone beside a high pass, and yellow flowers bloomed upon my grave in the barrenness of stone, until the world was changed. (shouldn't be too difficult)

Aulë

That would have to be Glorfindel of Gondolin.

A little tricky there, Inder.

Now we learn in the Silmarillion that Turgon is second in height only to Thingol the Sinda, yet Turgon wasn't named after his father (who's mother name was Arakano) - Arakano (sindarin form is Argon) was, and is said to have been taller than all of his brothers: therefore, more tall than Turgon.

Indeed you are right, Arakano/Argon was the tallest of he Noldor. (Penlod of FoG is also said to be taller then Turgon but he is never mentioned again).

Lasgalen the answer to your question is Guilin, whose son, Gelmir, who was captured in the Braggolach and whose mutilation you have described led to the charge of the Noldor and the start of the Nirnaeth.

Next question: I'm a 'foxy' Elf ;)

Q: 'My grandson befriended a Dwarf.'

Beleg

Feanor, although Tolkien was in many minds where to place Celebrimbor.

Manveru
08-05-2003, 07:31 PM
And here we have a 'small' problem...
Celebrimbor was indeed a friend of Dwarves, but I was looking for a different person than Feanor...(maybe my question was to general;)).

Maybe a small hint (I didn't want to add this at first, 'cause everyone would probably guess;))
Q: 'My grandson befriended a Dwarf and took part in Fellowship.'

:D

Olwe brother of Elwe (who became Elu Thingol and remained in Middle-earth...)?

I wonder how that couldn't be the right answer... Manveru I assume you're up...

Manveru

OK, OK... it's the old habit from the other forum (waiting for confirmation--old habits die hard;)).

Q: ''Together with my brothers, Haldir and Rumil, I helped the Fellowship...''

Lasgalen

Orophin.

I came up with a writing system which was later bettered by another Elf.

Rumil (not Haldir's brother ;))

I discovered men in the Vale of Sleep.

My name means golden-haired elf.
My face is full of laughter,
and in my hand is strength,
on my brow is wisdom.
Who am I?

Bethelarien

Jlday, you must correctly answer the previous riddle in order to post your own.

Nóm

Sorry... I guess Beleg has been waiting for me to tell him that he is correct.

Well Beleg, you are correct. It was Nuin. Nice name change, by the way. :p

Thanks Nom. :)
Is the answer to your riddle Finarfin, jlday?

On to my Question,

I was the last and yet the first.
I was a Noldor and yet sang.
Of the people of the king in Beleriand.

Nóm
08-24-2003, 02:57 AM
I believe jlday was looking for Glorfindel.

As for your riddle Beleg... I don't know! :o

And I call myself a fan of the Noldor... shame! :D

Beleg
08-26-2003, 05:24 PM
The answer to my riddle is Gildor Inglorin!
He was of the house of Finrod. He was the last person in the line and was the first to speak.

Are you going to post a new riddle for us?

Whose turn should it be now?

And Beleg, you didn't have to tell the answer to yours!

Beleg
09-01-2003, 07:46 PM
I am sorry, since some days had passed and no reply was forthcoming I thought it prudent to post the answer. Now I feel I errored.

When the world was young and stars glowed,
and in the pretty vales of Arda rivers flowed.

When the Quendi were happy and gay,
singing, hunting with little to say.

The metal workers, the oldest clan,
In there isn't found my wanted man.

Am I correct in saying she is a man?
For she loveth him of whom I am a fan.

Far she wondered in covered forests,
never daring the stony mansions,
and brought she forth a stunning witness,
to terminate the unjust condemning sanction.

Lasgalen

I am new, and would like to give it a shot:

I am he from days far past
But of my name was not the last
For after death I was reborn
In the same body I had long worn
And great to be seen was I
Not just by who knew I once did die
So back I came into the land
And in great wars I leant a hand
And I was of the greatest Lords
Ever to cross the Gaurded Fords.

Well?

Lasgalen
09-10-2003, 07:38 AM
Thanks Beleg. I apologize for not seeing your post. :o

(an easy one) I had more than one wife. Who am I?

(Khôr’nagan, I am guessing yours is Glorfindel)

Beleg

Finwe.

Nimloth...

What happened to all the interest in this game. It's much better than the trivia games in the other forums.

Lasgalen
09-23-2003, 08:39 AM
Yes. I am Nimloth

I agree. I like the trivia games, but this is much more fun. Seems like interest in general has been waning.

I have more younger brothers than any other elf, as far as is known!

Meadhros

Khôr’nagan
09-24-2003, 03:05 AM
Yes, interest has wained... For others. My interest has only just begun to wax, and its waxing period will probably be longer than my life span. (that is not a riddle). Anyway, I agree.... Is it Maedhros?
