Hi! I write poems in Quenya. I love doing this and not telling what they mean, so it can put some personal thought and likes in them. I did not do this for the ones I will show you, and I will tell you the translations to most of them. Please post your different languaged poems here, and translations, if you would like. The poems can be any language created by Tolkien.
Here's One Of Many:
'A Dancing Tune':

Halta si
lilta si
tulinya titta ner

tuia si
lurin si
mi i loth malina

Roughly Translated *meaning not exact*:
Hop Around
Dance Around
Come my little Fellow

Prance around
Frolic Now
In the flowers Yellow

Very nice! I hardly know enough Quenya to write a poem, however short, but that was quite nice! :)
Does ner mean 'fellow' or 'man'? It reminded me of the Latin vir, 'man'..

Yes, ner imeans man. I know a lot of Quenya, yet I need help with many words. I have found many words that resemble many different languages!

This is an elvish poem I wrote. It has no particulary thing in mind, just poetic and pretty ( at least i think so.)

The last line is kind of an inside thing, so don't get confused. :)

I cannot tell you the translation of this one, for it is a 'personal' poem.

How did you learn quenya? The books are of little help.

Well...I have 3 books on all 14 of Tolkiens languages (one on only elvish). Others at TTF learn from websites. Take a look in the Language thread for some good sites. I eally can't tell you any... I don't use the websites.

I can't WAIT until I learn enough Quenya to do stuff like this.

PS Dimatron, I am using Ardalambion which has great lessons (So far, at least I am understanding them and can say lots of short sentances + phrases...)

Hmm, a quick question to you, 3 is it? Have you ever tried mixing quenya and english? I think it might be a good idea. give a hint at the meaning but not the whole. I'm not sure, but as I've heard a lot of the well "popular" groups in other countries do that. Have a phrase of a song in english the rest is still whatever language they were singing in. Does that make any sense? Ok, the other real question is this, where do you find the time to study quenya?

Well...I usually have a lot of time and I love the languages so much that it's very enjoyable. Actually, the poems are a mix between Sindarin and Quenya...though I try not to mix! I am woeking on one in Andunic or the language of the Rhovannion! Yet it takes a long- time!
