What is Heren Istarion?

Heren Istarion is a guild to train role players, to enhance role players skill while letting students get comfortable with their characters.

What are the goals of Heren Istarion
Heren Istarion's primary goal is to bring forth to THETOLKIENFORUM.com role players that can amaze onlookers with their skill. We hope to train role players well enough to role play comfortably and well.

A goal of Heren Istarion is also to have our "students", so we call them, participate in the Government Council/War RPGs. We see those rpgs as the crest of any role plays.

How will members get trained?

Students are trained on an in-character university style system.

Students will first select a "role" that they wish to train towards: Paladin, Scholar, Monk, Berserker, Archer, Mountain King, Diplomat, Healer, Assasin. There are certain required courses and classes for each role. For instance Archers are required to take archery classes. Then there are classes that are required for ALL roles such as People of Arda. Then each student can select at least two electives for their character to take.

Then students will be involved in an ongoing RPG nicknamed by the trainers "The Campus." Students participate in assorted threads. Some threads will be for their classes. There will be a thread titled "Archery on foot." Students will train for archery in that thread. There are also threads for after school activities and Dorms/Teacher's Complexes, etc. The goal of all these threads is to get students comfortable and experienced with Role playing.

Now I am asking ONLY GRAND COUNCIL MEMBERS (note: not all trainers are GC members) to add anything that they think needs to be added here.:)

Additional goals in training

* To teach the players how to work out the character's personality, so they will enjoy their game more.

* The ultimate goal is to learn the players to think like their character, making the roleplays even more enjoyable and to open up their abilities to achieve this in every character they create.

* Improve the player's writing abilities, which will lead to better roleplay, as their fellow players will also get more enjoyment.

* How to create a character with a good profile. As this is often a point of debate, on what is possible or not, learning to set this up correctly is important for the future. (I'm sure Galdor will agree fully on this ;) )
