THE RPG SECTIONS ON THE TOLKIEN FORUM ARE CLOSING!!!

It's true, we're getting a fresh start, so I'm asking everyone to either wrap their RP up within a few days, or to simply stop it entirely if that isn't feasible.

I would like to unveil the new Role-Playing location....

Middle-Earth Role-Playing Games (http://www.middle-earth-rpg.com/index.php?s=)

Register today and have a look around while we get the news and information you need on the board! :)

NOTE: RP's on TTF will not be deleted. They will be archived.

What is the dead-line? My RPG for one is close to wrapping up. Knowing a date would help.

So that's it then? The end of an era? I'm not too keen on these changes, it would have been nice to be asked. What about those of us who aren't super dedicated RPers who wish to stay on TTF? It would be nice if we could have one section where us die-hard TTFers could role-play. Speaking for myself - I always liked the idea of RPing here because all our fellow members could see what we were up to. It was always nice to have some of our more esteemed members jump into our games whenever we could twist their arms. Redemption is a good example - we had Maedhros, Lhun and even Gothmog join us in there... to me that was the best kind of RPing. It would be a shame to lose it.

Is it not possible to keep one small section open over here for those kinds of RPs? The Silmarillion RP, Redemption, The Last Dragon... that kind of thing? I think TTF is losing something vibrant here. But I don't know... maybe I'm just getting old and crusty...:(

So the new RP boards are at a different website? I really do not want to go somewhere different to post something, and I do not want to register at a new site.

I don't like this one bit....

May I ask that the current RPGs are left on the forum until they finish?
I am in 3 RPGs which are still only about halfway through, and will need another month or two to complete.

i also am not liking this at all. the tolkien forum is an rp forum, and the community cannot be remade or duplicated. i dont think this will work. i saw the new site, i dont like the layout or anything. part of the reason i like TTF is that i can do all my talking and roleplaying and debating on ONE SITE. and that makes me happy.

do you really have to do this?

First of all, I think it's a great idea. The only real difference is that it's a few mouse clicks away from TTF. Bookmark the site if you need to. Don't think of TTF as shrinking, but rather as growing bigger. It should be a celebration. :D

I have a feeling that it is going to be wonderful. First of all, there is a delightful new world of Arda all set up, guild spaces, sections for regular RP's, etc. It's the same thing we have here, but expanded. Also remeber that it's the people who make a site, not the site's location. Middle-earth RPG's is made up of the same wonderful people so far as TTF. But in the future, I'm sure that we will expand to having more people than are just on TTF . . . people that probably wouldn't have joined otherwise. It's a new change . . . try to look at the positive sides. ;)

Also, click here (http://www.thetolkienforum.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=11237) to view WM's announcement concerning this issue. :)

I was really against this idea when it was first shown to me but after thinking about it and looking around the new site I like it. There are two many rps and rp types to be held in 3 forums of TTF. And when you think about it how different is it really?

YAH! In my opinion, this is GREAT! I mean, it is like TTF now has two sites, except they are connected by VB. Yet till, I agree with Nenya. This should be celebrated, not ridiculed.

Goldberry, they will be making a real style set soon. Right now, they are only using the default vbulletin set right now. I personally find that it will be a big help to have them at a different forum with more concentration upon the rpg modding, which will result in some more complete modding. :)

*nods to Khamul* MERPG (my official abbreviation for our new site) will be RPG centralized, and so the Moderators will all have experience in RPing and will be able to dedicate their skills and talent to making things enjoyable.

Remember that MERPG is owned by the same person who owns TTF, and you're not going into a 'foreign land'. We're already getting a lot of people from here on TTF registered there, and I can already see that things are going to get very exciting quickly! I am really excited about this, and I know that things are going to be great.

It's natural that some people fear changes like this, but it's really not so drastic as some people think. Registration is quick and simple (it only took me about 2 minutes) and you can have the same name there as on here, if you choose :) Someone mentioned that post counts won't be carried over, but what matter are post counts? In an RPing forum, there is nothing *but* merit to go by, and so numbers don't really matter whatsoever.

So please go and have a look, register, and have a good time! Things are being put together now, so you'll be able to get into the action very soon :)

Yeah, the seperate role play forum is a great idea. And Nenya is right, if you bookmark the site then it is only one mouse click away.

MERPG will improve the overall quality of RPG's. The forum will concentrate on making quality RP's. And increasing the enjoyment of RPing. The site is designed to accomodate the large amounts of variations within the RPing world, with different sections for Rp's of different ages.

So, its a good idea. And the more people that get over there and register the quicker it will grow and improve.

Yea. What they said :p . This has incredible potential, and I am sure WM will put a link on TTF for easy access to the new site.

I find that you need to experiment with things to see if you like them or not. Let's give this thing a chance!

How long has the site been open? Are there already a lot of posts? *I hope not, I hate coming in the middle of things when no new stories will start*

There is no deadline, just finish at your own pace :) Just don't start any new RP's (not that you could anyways, since you still have to ask and I'd just say no, hehe).

Also, I'm glad a lot of people have changed their minds :) Things are going to be great, and everything will be running smooth and sure soon enough!

so, if I understood correctly, we can finish our current RPs here, BUT any NEW RPs will have to be put on the new site? (once it's ready for new RPs anyway)

am I correct, or did I, yet again, misunderstand something?

Ciryaher

Correct. Also, the site is now ready for new RP's, just in case anyone wants to start one :)

As i said in the Rpg lighthearted, i think this is not good.....There is no reason why we have to "archive' the Rps that are going on now. It will be a stupidity. I am currently into 5 Rps and i have to keep up every day because i am the bad guy........I don't mean to sound offensive, but is not fair what you are doing. I embrace this new thing, but i think you should wait until the Rps that are on now finish their adventures.........Also it would be good to give us a date of when the closing is happening.

*thinks about this* it's not a bad idea, but in ways it might be... but I'm so confused, I just got back from State Solo Ensamble and nothing is registering... So I have a few questions;
(1) There's no deadline, so we can finish the ones we started here here, right? (2) But if there's a seperate site for RPing, then most likely the people who used to RP here won't be browsing the RPG section. So, is it possible to transfer an RPG to the new site from the old? For the fact that one of my RPGs is running pretty slow, they're about half done, but we lost all but I think four of our characters, and without fresh imagination my RPG might die. (3) Where is the new link? *looks around, but can't find it* and (4) How is it organized? I thought I saw something about it being organized by time setting, but what about the RPGs that jump between times for some reason or another? or RPGs that don't have a real definate time? Or maybe someone knows what they want to be a part of, but they don't know what time period it falls under? Will there be a time-guide?
That's all I can think of now, thank you for hearing me out.

So, is it possible to transfer an RPG to the new site from the old? Yes, you can transfer RPG's to the new site.
Where is the new link? Here's the link. (http://www.middle-earth-rpg.com/index.php?s=)
How is it organized? Take a look at it and see. :D
All RPG's are classified by Age. If your RPG happens after the War of the Ring, it goes in the Fourth Age.

Hope this helps! :)

All you need to do is start up a new thread and discussion thread on the new site (following the title rules outlined there). Outline what has happened so far in your RP in the first post, and start playing! :)
