Is it just my copy or does the book of lost tales 1 refer to Melkor as Melko?

It is not your copy- at this early point in the creation of the Middle-earth Legendarium, the future Morgoth was known as Melko. You've probably noticed other changes that Tolkien made in character names- his creations remained very much in flux for around fifty years, as he wrote, and re-wrote, and re-wrote, and so forth.
