Don't know about anyone else, but this is the first time I've seen a pic of Anduril and I must say it's rather impressive IMO. :D And do you reckon it's just a trick of the light, or is that blade gold?

i think its the gold blade that makes it look impressive.

Uh-oh. I just hope it isn't gold. It just somehow seems wrong to me. :(

No way is that Anduril! Look at the hilt, blade shape, and guard. I say that sword is Glamdring, not Anduril.

What, did Gandalf get it reforged at the Gondor blacksmith? ;) I have a bad feeling......

It's not Anduril. The Anduril they made for the movie has a hole in the pommel.

Thank heavens!!!! :o

The question remains: what sword is it........?

From the look of the hilt and pommel I would say Glamdring. Compare to this pic (left to right) Sting, Glamdring, Nazgul Sword, Anduril

It requires only a brief examination to realize that it IS Glamdring.:p :D The blade shape gives it all away. I doubt that Anduril will look much - if any - different from Narsil. Remember, Anduril had the same pommel, hilt, and guard as Narsil. There's not much you can do with a blade. :)

Melko, judging by that pic I believe you're right, it does look just like Glamdring. Damn Jude Fisher and her misleading photo captions. :p

Though for the record, I think it would be rather fitting for the "flame of the west" to have a flame coloured blade. :)

Although possibly fitting, it would not be in accordance with the book, and IMO would look sorta cheesy. :D I hope that Anduril looks almost - if not completely - identical to Narsil. :)

EDIT: This here (http://www.warofthering.net/movies/photos/calendarfull/imagepages/image3.shtml) is Narsil reforged. It doesn't look much different to me, though its a little hard to see in the picture.

Did not Aragorn get the Narsil reforged when they stayed in Rivendell? If so, then why does he still have his other sword in FOTR movie? Have theay forgotten, or are they waiting for a dofferent time for him to get it?

In the books, he did get Narsil reforged in Rivendell.
The Sword of Elendil was forged anew by Elvish smiths, and on its blade was traced a device of seven stars set between the crescent Moon and the
rayed Sun, and about them was written many runes; for Aragorn son of Arathorn was going to war upon the marches of Mordor. Very bright was that sword when it was made whole again; the light of the sun shone redly in it, and the light of the moon shone cold, and its edge was hard and keen. And Aragorn gave it a new name and called it Anduril, Flame of the West.

In the movie, he did NOT get it reforged while he was in Rivendell. Apparently, he will get it sometime before the battle of the Pelennor fields in RotK.

It looks really nice but why is it gold?? I would have thought it would look different ... Oh well as long as he gets it first thing in the movie ..:):)

Although possibly fitting, it would not be in accordance with the book, and IMO would look sorta cheesy. Yes, my opinion exactly. Please, please, please, no gold sword.

Nice very heavy, soft, malleable gold sword.

Watch it bend.

Coming next: swords made of tin and lead.

It might not be gold but rather reflecting the sun...

Hmmm....We can always hope. Either it's a hoax, or it's real, or perhaps the sun really is reflecting. Notice how the color of the ground seems to match the color of the blade.
