The Guild of Outcasts have challenged us to a practice debate. We will be using the members both teams are using for the Debating Tourament. The topic is not decided yet but the team for GoD's is as follows.

The_Swordmaster
Gloin
Gamil Zirak
Dain Ironfoot I

Gloin are you still on the team for you have not posted in a long time. For the Guild of Outcasts their team is.

YayGollum
Nom
Munchkin
The_Elf_Herself

Yay do you have any thing else to add before we make a topic for this debate.

The munchkin person's name isn't capitalized. Anyways, sure, I have something to add. We decided on what the debate was. You people get to choose which side you want. ---> Which was more foolish: Gandalf taking as long as he did to learn that Bilbo's/Frodo's was the One Ring, or Sauron neglecting to consider that someone might try to destroy his Ring?

Whoah - what a topic!

I've just been asked to help out as a judge in this debate and I wonder if you are aware that with this topic you are actually trying to cover 3 - IMO - different issues:

1) The Gandalf issue: Why did it take him so long and could he actually have detected the true nature of The One Ring any sooner than he did?

2) The Sauron issue: Could he - given his nature and "personality" - actually assume someone would be able to destroy the ring?

3) Can these 2 issues actually be compared and if so how? Or aren't we tempted to compare apples with oranges here?

The first 2 issues would IMO leave enough room for a good debate each and the result of the third will be questionable at any rate...

Just my two ¤-cent on that issue...

It is apples and oranges.

If anyone is unhappy with this one, and can find another that any picky debators are willing to go with then that would be best. I have no problem with debating this topic though, and think it will be fun.

I didn't say I am unhappy with the topic, but - IMO - if you all are trying to seriously and thoroughly cover the topic, it's going to be an extremely difficult debate, but I too think it most probably would be fun...

That is sad news to me Dain. O the dwarves are now down two people. Is there any one else who can represent us in the Debating Tournament? For we have loss two debators Dain and Gloin.

Yikes! Well, it was hard for you to get four in the first place, The_Swordmaster person. Are you sure we should go on with it? Or would you just want to back out of the scary debating tournament thing? just wondering. Anyways, Yay for the crazy debate! If we had to go for one bit of it, I'd go for the second one. *hides*

Well if the dwarves can't come up with a Team, then us GoO can go against another Guild. Arvedui might have found judges from certain teams by now though, so that could be a problem.

Hopefully a couple more dwarves will show up.

Dain - I couldn't handle it.
