FOUND THIS QUOTE AT ANOTHER BOARD
Here's a quote about the ROTK that was too good to pass up shairng.:
Quote:
Take it for what its worth but I've gotten the following information from a pretty reliable scoop who has seen the rough cut of Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. He tells me this:
1. It is indeed, far and way better than both Fellowship and Two Towers.
2. It was a 4 hour, 20 minute cut of the film.
3. Feeling that he has proven audiences will gladly sit for 3 hours of quality cinema, Peter Jackson will try to leave the film's 1/6 of a day total time as is.
Again, don't take it for fact, but it's definetly some information that will cause a stir. 4 hours of "better than the first two" filmmaking. Wow.
AND THIS REPLY
But remember this:
Both FOTR & TTT had original uncut lengths of aproximately four and a half hours each. Yet both theatrical realeases where three hours and the EE are three and a half hours.
This is what I think will happen with ROTK as well. Maybe they are using test audiences to figure out what parts to cut.
So I am guessing if the ROTK EE comes in at three and a half hours, there will be approximately three additional hours out there (one hour each film).
So will that mean there will be be eventually a super-duper extended edition released in 2006-7?
I hope so!

While that'd be sweet... I doubt it will happen

Personally I wouldn't mind 10 hours!! (Ok, ok, maybe that's a bit much.) 3 and 1/2 hours I think is feasible. I seriously doubt 4 hours, but......(hey I can wish, can't I?)
I seriously believe that RotK will be the best one yet in this series, and that's saying a lot.
About the Super-Duper EE, is that just a rumor, a hope, or a fact?

Well, it's definitely not going to be 4 hours and 20 minutes long according to The One Ring.net, but it does have the possibillity of being almost 4 hours long.
As for the super-duper long EE...I for one will not be buying it if it comes out, I'd already have the other EEs so it'd be pointless.

I have heard rumor of 4 hr movie at other boards. That doesn't make it true, but it sure gives me hope.

4 hrs + is the Rough Cut. To be whittled down into a palatable version just like all the others. And that's direct from PJ.
DVD box set versions, on the other hand, will run into the 12 hour plus bracket on film footage alone. And that's direct from PJ.

I heard that the Scouring of the Shire chapter in ROTK will not be in the movie. That ch. is when Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin find the shire in ruin. Also Saruman will not die the way he does in the ROTK book. He will die differently and he might die in the beginning of the movie. I really dont care as long as the movie is good like the last two.

This is from www.theonering.net :
ROTK: 4hour and 20 Minute Running Time? FALSE!
Here is a report that comes from VERY reliable sources within the LOTR camp. In regards to this story we posted yesterday (which wasn't even our story, it came from another site). Take a look at what our insider has to say:
This is nonsense. They are still cutting the movie and do not know how long it will be, but it definitely won't be 4hrs & 20 minutes, nor should it be.
That knocks that rumor out the window, down the street and into someone's pot of flowers!
So I'm sorry, no 4 hour 20 minutes ROTK :(

That's too bad. 4 hrs+ would be palatable with an interrmission. Thats the same as Gone With the Wind.

four hours of LOTR!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that would be a dream come true!! i would most definetely buy the super duper EE! i agree that ROTK will be the best of them all. FOTR and TTT were just PJ's warm up films. ROTK gonna be amazing!

All 3 EE DVDs would already add up to a cost of somewhere around $210, so a super-duper EE would probably be even more...and I doubt I'd be spending that amount of money to buy something I'd already have but in different packages.

Oh. :( For some reason I was under the impression that it would be even more extended, with more extra footage. But if it's just all three EE put together, you're right, it's a total waste of money.
Well maybe not total, but I don't have that kind of money to blow.

i'm sure they'd add some super duper cool stuff because the people who buy deserve to get a little extra! i think there would be more special features.

Yes, that's what I was hoping for. Maybe an extra half hour on every EE? Lol, that's a bit much, but still......
If anyone has any more info, I'd be happy to have it.
