Ah, Walter! What are you doing?!
Why spoil the cozy place this ghost city has been for all the wraiths ;) :p :D :D :D

*******

Sorry, people, I just dropped by to say that I for one would love to see this guild renewed and active! :)
When I look at the members of your Guild I only feel respect and a little envy ;)

Arvedui

I would love to see this guild back in working order, and also to participate in making it thrive.

I am merely dropping by to say I enjoy visiting this guild a whole lot, and will continue to do so.:)

I have added a few thoughts for the Guild here (http://www.thetolkienforum.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=11263) for anyone interested. For my part, I am more than willing to assist the Guild where possible.

Three cheers for Anc's plan for world domination:p :) :)

Count me in too - I'm ready and willing!

Thanks to all who bothered to reply (here or in the other thread), I still hope that a few more members will check-in. Also, I would like to suggest that every member who has not contributed within 3 months and does not check-in here will be removed from the list.

I just edited my first post in an attempt to create a valid list of Guild-members and contributors.

Turgon: After having read the other thread, is it still your wish to resign from your position of Guild-leader?

Turgon
05-12-2003, 07:54 PM
I have reconsidered my decision to resign Walter, and thanks to everyone who has expressed their support for the guild.

Just how long do you plan to keep this checkin open Walter? Some of the members are infrequent visitors to TTF so perhaps a month or so would be an appropriate time-limit?

Walter
05-12-2003, 09:24 PM
That is good news, Turgon :)

----

Then let's keep it open until Mid-June...

I'm checking in. I would very much like to remain a member of this guild. However, it was brought to my attention that I cannot be a member of more than one debating guild. As I wanted even more to be in the Guild of Tolkienology, I resigned my membership. If the conditions change, I would love to still be a member. Otherwise, I'll just have to be a contributing guest!

You know... I finally cannot understand - are you with the Guild of OiE or with the GoT?

Bethelarien: I added you to the "contributing guests", parallel memberships in "debating guilds" for some reasons is not allowed, though, actually I don't really know why...

----

Lhun: Maybe this was something worth considering and maybe even changing. I fail to see why one shouldn't be able to be a contributing member in two "debating guilds" (whatever that is supposed to mean ;))?

----

Yay - A Balrog is come.... :D I already started to fear you wouldn't want to join in anymore, Gothmog...

Oh, no, Walter! There has never been any reason for a member of one "debating" guild not to be allowed to "contribute" to and in another. Have I ever been against your wonderful contributions in our Guild? ;) :D

BUT!!! When it comes to debating between these two guilds in particular, THEN this person shall have to know his/her membership :p and pick a side.

It is sad, however, that the interrelations among the guilds is lost or vague......but this is another matter...

Sorry for the late reply to this thread and for the non-reply to your post Turgon, I've been away for a little while. For the record, although I'm not a frequent poster I would certainly like to remain within the Guild as I have a lot of respect both for the expertise I see here and for the friendly and mature way that that expertise is bandied about. :) I hope that we can kep the guild alive, and I hope that f I can find a useful niche I can play my part.

I think enough time has passed now for everyone interested in the guild to check-in. Hence the "remnant" of OiE is:

Anyhoo...

Do we already have moderating access withing our guild's area?
If so I would suggest that we update the original member-list thread according to the list above.

Arvedui
06-25-2003, 11:09 AM
I don't think we have that just yet.
I don't know where that matter stands, but I have a feeling that it is one of those things that are awaiting the upgrade to vB 3.0.

Thankee Chymaera... ;)

I always knew Anc was sorta..... dangerous.... :p

Arvedui

Thanks, Anc.
I did not need that, having spent last week in a tent in pouring rain.:p

Some guys have all the luck...

Walter
06-26-2003, 08:07 AM
Then I probably shouldn't mention that my vacation in Italy was sunny and hot (up to 38°C) :p

Arvedui
06-26-2003, 08:34 AM
No you shouldn't.

What's going on here? Some sort of a conspiracy?
Just you wait 'till I can brag about all the snow we get in the winter!

or perhaps not... :(

Ancalagon
06-27-2003, 01:03 AM
Sorry Walter, it is only around 30°C here at the moment, so rather cool in comparison!

Anyhoo, hope all of you members are well and are noting the fact that I love the Guild so much I am replying even while on holidays...it just eats away at you even now!:)

Arvedui
06-27-2003, 07:14 AM
You bet it does.

But there is one good thing about it though: You'll be able to participate in the debates.....:D

Have a nice, varm, relaxing holiday. I'll think of you when I'm sitting in my warm, insufficient ventilated, office.:(

Walter
06-27-2003, 08:11 AM
No conspiracy, Arvedui, actually I can very well relate to you, since I'm back in the dreadmill again. However I occasionally daydream for a moment how great things were about a week ago.

Here's a series of pics (http://www.thetolkienwiki.info/mathom/chw/index2.html) taken at a lake in upper Styria last week.

Looking for a certain ring no doubt:D

Don't let them get you down Leif. Think of the fantastic sunburn that Anc is going to bring home with him:D:D;)

Besides 25 C is a much more civilized tempeature

Or unmarried females. Makes us think no men really want to spend all life with someone! I imagine the married ladies don't feel too good about hearing it either. But yea, there can be little doubt it was they who made the rule. :D

Anyhow I'm off to forge a ring. :p

Anyhow I'm off to forge a ring. :p Before any harm is done let me put that straight: I was joking!

In fact I've been spending the better half of my life (Total 27 years, almost 20 of which now married) with my wife, Helga, and in fact not only our mutual trust, respect and understanding has continuously increased since, but also our love.

We only joke about that because we are truly not the masters of the house. Our love for our wives put us in the passenger-seat, and we accept it willingly.

And I support Walter's theory about húsbóndi...

Is it too late for me to still check in and say I still would be keen to be a member? Major hassles at work and home have meant I haven't been checking in as often as I'd like and I've only just realised what's been going on.

I have added your name to the memberlist - why not have a look around and see what splendid debates you have missed in your absence? I'm sure you'll find plenty to interest you.
