shush! we r not lost after all! or r we? does the fact that shush is here simply mean that the three of us r lost instead of just 2 of us?

Rhiannon

Yay! *throws self at Shush*

Outcast Camp! Outcast Camp! Outcasty Activities! Outcasty Craft Time! (coffins out of popsicle sticks!)

(coffins out of popsicle sticks!)

...that sounds cool:D ...
yes, and at the outcast camp we could all dress up like movie stars, too (um, I mentioned this in another thread...) :D

Annushka

does the fact that shush is here simply mean that the three of us r lost instead of just 2 of us?

It does!
Dressing up like movie stars! Yeah, that sounds interesting. I wonder who'd choose who.

But seriously, I'd love to see you all people. You're lucky, you live in the same country. If you really make up your mind you'll meet each other. And I'm stuck here with 12hour time difference.

Dragon
07-27-2003, 06:03 AM
hmmm.... we could have a shush fund... yes, a shush fund so she can some visit us... I have three dollars!!!:D ... but I dunno... I kinda need those 3 dollars... :o

Rhiannon
07-27-2003, 06:09 AM
Movie stars! I dips Audrey Hepburn! Though...um...I could probably make four Audrey Hepburns....

Shush, I know what you mean! I loved being in Japan, but the time difference drove me batty...well, that and being on the other side of the globe from all my friends and family...

Annushka
07-27-2003, 06:21 AM
I love Audrey Hepburn! She's the most adorable actress. One of my favorite movies of all times is *How to steal $1million* with Peter O'Tool. I'm not sure it's the original title though.

Anyway, the important thing is to FEEL like her. I'd probably go for Meriline Monroe:D On the 2nd thought, I'm really not that type. I mean how am I going to keep that expression on my face.

And D thanks a lot:D I'll just probably wait couple of years to have my own finances:D

For the last 15 years the emmigration from Armenia has been tremendous. People are just leaving. And among them my friends. I can't stand that. It's like a huge gap inside.

Rhiannon
07-27-2003, 06:25 AM
Audrey Hepburn is wonderful :)

...she was also very skinny *eyes brawny arms doubtfully*

Marilyn Monroe would be fun...the face isn't so important, but how are your hips?

That's so sad, that your friends are leaving! :(

Annushka
07-27-2003, 06:35 AM
My hips? (Kinda strange to discuss them on the Internet)Well, they're OK. I'm not sure I could compete with her though:rolleyes:

And Audrey, I think she was the skinniest actress ever. And the most elegant, graceful one too.

Muf is saying HI to you:D

Rhiannon
07-27-2003, 06:43 AM
HI MUFF!!!!

Shush, what's important to being Marilyn is that you be able to shimmy your hips :D

Annushka
07-27-2003, 06:56 AM
Well, I'd just have to be in the mood:D:D:D

Dragon
07-28-2003, 02:20 AM
humph! I'm sure I could imitate almost any movie star person if I knew enough about them...hip shimminess? no problemo

I've been waving 2 ppl in other cars all day in my new movie-stahr get-up, I've gotten some weird looks... I've even come up w/ an alias; Alicia Dahlling

I've only seen 2 audrey hepburn movies...I can't remember which ones, but I know I've seen 2...

I'm trying 2 figure out who started this look...

Rhiannon
07-28-2003, 05:42 AM
Alicia Dahling! I love it!

Audrey Hepburn movies...I've seen Breakfast at Tiffanies, Charade, Sabrina, the beginning of Robin and Marian, um....Can that possibly be it?

Rhiannon
07-28-2003, 05:44 AM
Oh! And I spent tonight babysitting my favorite girls. It's been months since I babysat them, because their mother had a fourth (girl), and they weren't getting out, etc etc etc you know how it is...I'd forgotten how much I enjoy babysitting those girls :) And they love me. Madeline said so :D

Dragon
07-28-2003, 06:03 AM
that's y little kids r cool, they love u

and littl ekids usually dont care how ur dressed or look unless ur hideous, thats so cool:rolleyes: :D

oh, ok, now I know, I've seen my fair lady and charade, those r the ones

there is a squishy guinea pig in my lap....it is trying 2 eat my pants... why?!

Rhiannon
07-28-2003, 06:18 AM
Yeah, I love little kids :D Today after church we went to Subway, and a lot of other people from our Sunday school class were there too, including little Caleb, who I've babysat in the past (and so has my sister). He was telling someone- a visitor, I think- about who was there, and pointed at us and yelled (kids that age always yell) "That's Miss Charis and Miss Rachel! Miss Charis is the big one, and Miss Rachel is the little one!"

Dragon
07-28-2003, 04:18 PM
:D :D :D my favorite little kid is joseph from my moms karate school, he's teaching me how 2 skateboard:rolleyes:  :D most of the ppl close 2 my age wont go anywhere near me, and I don't have multiple peircings or anything (no offence meant 2 ne1 who does...)

Rhiannon
07-28-2003, 06:20 PM
Yeah...I really have very few friends who are my age. Most are a year younger or a year older. One of those strange phenomena thingies.

Dragon
07-28-2003, 09:21 PM
hummahumma, that's prolly bc of ur being homeschooled, I have friends my age, but I spend more time w/ little kids like my neighbors or the little ppl from karate, so, yeah:rolleyes: :)

Rhiannon
07-29-2003, 12:47 AM
Yeah, probably. But even when I took classes at the high school in Japan, everyone I knew was either a junior or a senior; well, that was because I ended up in Drama 2 instead of Drama 1, and I was in intermediate choir.

Dragon
07-29-2003, 05:56 PM
humma? that's kinda weird, but it makes sense... :o

we got a new bookshelve yesterday, and I've learned something, no matter how useful bookshelves are, I don't like them. the floor works just as well. and all my mom wants 2 do is put animal figurines on it. pfft.

Lomelinde
07-30-2003, 02:11 AM
I love bookcases...tho holding animal figurines is definently the wrong purpose for them. my bookcase broke when we moved across town earlier this year. I'm still waiting for my dad to build me a new one. EVERYTHING ends up on my bookcase. first books, then normally some papers, gum, keys, trinkets...the list goes on. you name it and it's probably been on my bookcase at one time.

Dragon
07-30-2003, 02:30 AM
yes, those r the sort of things I would put on a bookcase,as soon as we got it up she's like, "do u wanna use one of these bookcases?" (we had 2 smaller ones where we put the new one) I'm like "well what's the point of getting anew one?" she said "so that we have more space 2 put out books" and I say "then y are we putting all the books from the other shelves on this one?" she's like "just do it"

I hate it when she does stuff like that:mad:

Lomelinde
07-30-2003, 03:10 AM
yeah. mothers. the most motherly thing my mom did today was make me go buy mushrooms. normally this wouldn't been as bad if I hadn't had to leave my friends house, where I was having dinner and hanging out, to go buy them and then take them to my house. she said I could go back to my friends when I finally gave them to her but it seemed rather pointless by the time it was all said and done. oh well.

Lomelinde
08-01-2003, 05:38 PM
wow, did I kill the conversation or what? my cousins and aunt just left this morning. it is a partly sad experience to watch ones relatives leave...but I can't help being rather happy at the same time. there were entirely TOO MANY females in my house. I, the only girl, love nothing more than to banish my brothers downstairs and rule the upstairs...mainly my bedroom and the computer room. I have no desire to have any sisters (blood sisters that is...I love my non-blood sisters very much) mostly because I just can't deal with all the primping, cat fights, fluff, and general girly-ness. well, my aunt and cousins came to visit. my aunt has 5 (count 'em, five) daughters, ages 13-1. after the first day I was ready to move out. this place was a zoo! I already had my little brothers who make enough ruckus to be able to convince people that there are eight of them instead of just two, then you add in all my cousins...whoa. it's a scary mental picture. then there's the issue of my mom and my aunt. both are very strict, very productive, and love nothing more than to deligate work. if everything's already cleaned and/or fixed they'll create work for you to do. isn't that great? the best part is they're worse when they are put together. even more scariness. the only way to avoid the dynamic duo is to team up with my archrivals: my siblings, and my cousins. ever since we were little children (me included) anytime we had a get together we would reherse, put on, and tape a play that we either wrote or took from somewhere. this is a GREAT excuse to get out of work. since my mom and aunt think it is just so "cute" that we spend so much time "bonding" etc. they leave us alone, and even take care of the little ones (age 7 and under). so that's what I've been doing the past couple days. directing, filming, and acting in a play. not a bad way to spend a couple of days if you ask me. but anyways, now I not only have my room and my bed back, I have my house back! my brothers are banished downstairs and I once again rule the upper half of my house. :)

Rhiannon
08-01-2003, 09:42 PM
I love bookshelves. I look my books all out where I can get at them. Mind you, they usually end up in stacks all over the floor, but I do like them to be shelved. I'm neurotic about my shelves, but y'all knew that already.

Kailita
08-03-2003, 11:37 PM
Rhi, you're neurotic about more than just your shelves. ;)

Announcement ---> I have read my first book by Donna Jo Napoli. Spinners. Very well written, but very sad. Still, I liked it a lot. Am desperately searching for Zel now. Would you believe they don't have it at my library?

The-Elf-Herself

They don't have Zel? AAAAAAAHHHHH!!!! That's only her best book! Evil library.

Rhiannon
08-04-2003, 08:02 AM
Yeah. AAAAAAh!!! Zel is definitely her best book; Spinners was probably her second best, though.

Rhi, you're neurotic about more than just your shelves.

You'd better believe it!

I think stupid women differ from stupid men! Stupid women are really difficult to handle, but they are in some way less dangerous. As stupid men are just unbearable:( Besides most of them have no idea how stupid they are and are convinced that you're the one to sit and listen to what they have to say. But the worst part is that they are sure that ONLY because they are male and I'm not, they are smarter.

Kailita
08-06-2003, 08:52 AM
I hear you, Shushy!

I think it depends on what kind of stupid we're talking about. Stupid males can be quite amusing, as long as they're not trying to be something they're not (namely smart, heh :D). However, if a stupid male - or female, for that matter - is trying to boss you around...that is very trying. Especially when they're pushy. Gah.

What's wrong with estrogen? Other than that horrid three letter thing, heh.

Evil library is right, Jam! *Breaks out the picket signs and chains herself to the library door until they get some decent books*. :p

Rhiannon
08-06-2003, 09:04 AM
Mm...I suppose kicking up a fuss at the library might be a good alternative to obsessively buying books and not having any money...

Males have a special kind of stupidity. I like to refer to it as 'Stupid Macho Guy Nonsense'.

Faramir does not have this kind of stupidity. Reason #54 for loving Faramir.

Girls have another special kind of stupidity. I like to refer to it as 'Scary Pack-Girl Hissing Clawing Instinct'. Girls also have the 'Insane Bad Body Image Obsessive Crazyness Stupidity'.

Rhiannon does not have the first kind of stupidity. Reason #6 why Rhiannon is cool outcasty person.

Rhiannon does have tiny microscopic traces of the second kind of stupidity, but we're working on that.

BranMuffin

*is being lashed with wet noodle*

I knew that comment was gonna start something. Oh well.
*has a small amount of Rhi's definition of male stupidity*

Things are different though when there aren't any women around, you can cut loose and act stupid all you want because you know that the guys you are with are the exact same way.

I think stupid women(stereotypical blondes) are WAY more harmful than stupid men(esp. in that time of the month). I mean come on there are bumper stickers that say "I have PMS and a gun, leave me alone."

And I'll be the first to admit that I'm not smater than women about a lot of things like what clothes match, why you need conditioner AND shampoo, why nails are so important(other than for Rhi's first definition of women stupidity), and cosmetic purposes. But I am smarter than women in a lot of guy things like what a catalytic converter does, how electronics work, and what a lathe, mitre saw, jigsaw, router, drill press, band saw, drum sander, radial arm saw, planer, and table saw are used for and how to use them.

I think all women have definition 2 of Rhi's...at least a little bit.

I don't believe I have either of those. :D I don't have the first one just because my personality type is completely different from anything that might turn into something like that. When I get PMS, I get sad easily and more moody, but definitely not angry or violent, so there's nothing to worry about with me, Bran. ;)

And I am like the Anti-Insane Bad Body Image Obsessive Crazyness Stupid Girl. My mom says that is not necessarily a good thing. She says everyone should worry a little bit about their outward image and be a little bit concerned about how they look. But I just wasn't made that way. I can't reconcile myself to the issue of make-up and hairspray being beneficial.

See, I don't know anything about either of those (except that you need shampoo and conditioner because shampoo cleans your hair but conditioner actually makes it manageable ;)), so I guess that makes me a very Outcasty Outcast. But if you asked me something about Marvel superheroes or Legend of Zelda/Super Smash or music and books or - especially - about Jesus Christ and the most important thing in the world, then I would have something to talk about. ;)

Conditioner de-tangles hair, makes it softer, and gets out things like mineral build-up. Shampoo is basically soap. Nails need to be kept neatly trimmed because otherwise you look like a barbarian- though even I don't understand the obsessive varnishing and manicuring done by my aunt. I just cut mine. The cosmetics are guys' fault. My mom tested this when she was younger; when she wore make-up, people smiled back at her more and were more polite than when she didn't, particularly guys.

I know what a lathe is, and a jigsaw, and a drill press, and a planer, and a table saw, and I've used most of them. Just not very much. I made an aborted attempt at making a loom when I was younger.

Nah, I never get all mean or moody for PMS. I don't allow myself the luxury. So then I guess that makes the actual physical pain worse, since I won't let myself get moody. At least the pain can be taken care of with enough ibuprofen.

And I am like the Anti-Insane Bad Body Image Obsessive Crazyness Stupid Girl. My mom says that is not necessarily a good thing. She says everyone should worry a little bit about their outward image and be a little bit concerned about how they look. But I just wasn't made that way. LOL. Join the club. My official style is slob; I throw on a clean t-shirt, a clean pair of pants, sandals, a watch, and that's about it. I wear some make up for work, but that's only lipstick and eyeshadow and that's mostly because I'm a waitress, so I'm supposed to look 'nice' for work. Hairspray is evil. I used some ONCE and it messed up my hair for about six months. The darn stuff wouldn't come out, even with repeated washings.

Conditioner de-tangles hair, makes it softer, and gets out things like mineral build-up. Shampoo is basically soap. And two-in-one shampoo/conditioner is a wonderful thing. :) See, my nails grow at a cracking rate for some reason, long and rock hard(I have to use a toenail clipper on my fingernails), so I have to do a little manicure thing with them. I can't cut them short, because they naturally grow out to a certain length beyond my fingertips and it messes them up, they get cut easily, bleed, and stuff. So every two weeks I have to do the whole clipping/emery board/manicure stuff(sometimes I DO throw on a coat of polish, just because I might as well, they're already done. This is usually when I'm really bored). The worst is, my nail polish wearing friends envy this! They wish their nails would grow out long and hard. Grrr!

I wouldn't know a thing about tools, although I'm a ready student. I like to know things, whether it's 'girly' stuff or 'guy' stuff, so I'll learn how to put make up on as willingly as I'll learn how to change the oil in a car. It's all information, which is an incredibly useful thing, no matter the form. Never know when you might need it, so never pass up a chance to learn something(there are a very few exceptions to this rule).

Exactly, make up does something to a person. That's why I wear it at work, I get bigger tips that way for some reason.

Oops, I cross-posted with Kaia *waves*

When I get PMS, I get sad easily and more moody, but definitely not angry or violent, so there's nothing to worry about with me, Bran.

Yeah, me too. I have crying fits. My sister, though, turns in to an absolute viper.

I didn't mean 'bad body image' as in obsessed with make-up etc; I don't wear make-up and I can't use a blow-dryer to save my life; but I do often feel ugly. Which I don't like. I want be totally confident and not have to worry about that, which I think is a good attitude to have ;)

I have strong nails, and they grow fast, and all I do to them is trim them when they get rough edges, and I have gorgeous nails *shrug* It's like...compensation for the rest of me, I guess. I do like having pretty nails, but I absolutely abhor nail polish. It feels like my finger tips are weighted down, ugh *makes face* I can't ever 'forget it's there', so it's always bugging me.

I have pretty nails, I suppose, but they're usually filthly underneath.... I swear, I clean them out and within five minutes they're dirty again *thinks her fingers attract dirt*

I don't bother with makeup at all, except on special occasions. I find nail polish kills my nails, and besides, I can't put it on nice to save my life, so I just don't bother. I look funny in makeup, heh... besides, Mac doesn't like it ;) At least my skin is fairly clear, just got lots of freckles

I think stupid women(stereotypical blondes) are WAY more harmful than stupid men(esp. in that time of the month). I mean come on there are bumper stickers that say "I have PMS and a gun, leave me alone."

From this one can conclude that PMS influences stupid blondes in some way different than smart ones. And that's not true.

Make-up can be fun! It allows you to look different when you want to. Though I don't get girls that put every possible thing on their faces and walk around at 100degrees. That's just disgusting. Only imagine what happens to their skin:eek:

But I am smarter than women in a lot of guy things like what a catalytic converter does, how electronics work, and what a lathe, mitre saw, jigsaw, router, drill press, band saw, drum sander, radial arm saw, planer, and table saw are used for and how to use them

I have absolutely no idea what these things are. I guess Jam is right. Everybody should know something about this not to depend on somebody else's help.

Hairspray is evil. I used some ONCE and it messed up my hair for about six months. The darn stuff wouldn't come out, even with repeated washings.

Oh, you're so right! I hate when something's on my hair. I get this feeling that it isn't going to come out ever. And it actually doesn't. I never use hairspray.

Talierin

BranMuffin

Elmer's School glue or hair wax works good for really crazy hairstyles like liberty spikes and mowhawks, stuff like that. But they seem to hold really good and Elmer's washes out wax doesn't(takes forever to get out, probably wait for it to dry or you might be able to blow dry it out).

That is HORRIBLE! Oh my gosh, that just burns me up...this is one of my all-time soapboxes. I hate it how humans judge people by how pretty they are!!! *Rants*. They did a study about this on the news as well. They had an actress wait on the side of the road, dressed plainly, with a broken down car. One person stopped to help her. Then the SAME ACTRESS put on make-up and made herself more "attractive" and went back to wait by the car. EIGHT GUYS stopped to help her! They also did the same thing with two substitute teachers - they acted exactly the same, but one was pretty and one was plain, and they taught the same group of students at different times. When it was over, the children were asked which teacher was "nicer"...and they chose the prettier one! We are ingraining this horrid misconception into our CHILDREN! This is so WRONG! [/incoherent ranting]

That's not slob - that's CASUAL. :D And that's me, too. ;) Hairspray always makes my hair sticky and makes the little wisps of hair around my face rock hard - it's really gross.

My nails are long, grow fast, but are pretty brittle. I'm constantly breaking them and regrowing them. Probably not very healthy, heh. And I don't see any problem with nail polish, apart from maybe the smell. I polish my nails when I'm bored...and I like the colors. Ahh, THAT kind of bad body image. Well, everybody struggles with that at some time or another. (Except for maybe Jam. ;)) I used to be really good at not worrying about it. I still am pretty good at it, considering my age and everything the media keeps throwing out, but it's getting harder as I get older and fight my way through highschool. Just figure it this way - God made only one you, and He must have had a reason to make you exactly the way He did. He doesn't make mistakes, after all. And if the God of the Universe thinks that you're beautiful, really, who are we to disagree? ;)

But I hear you about the dirty nails, Tal! That always happens to me! Aiieee!

I have no problem with make-up...as long as it's on other people. ;) I just don't like it on myself because to me it always feels like I'm getting a lot of cake plastered onto my face. And I hate eyeliner...I always think I'm going to poke my eye out. :p The other reason I abstain from wearing make-up is that I want to be able to like my face the way it is. I just don't want to get to the stage where I don't want to go out and get the newspaper in the morning without putting on make-up first (like my mom does). But I guess it's useful to accentuate your features every now and then.

Bran, your list of reasons to be a guy was very...amusing, to say the least. :D I would respond to it, but there were so many different reasons. The funniest part is that most of those reasons make no difference to girls! (Other than the expense ones.) We like talking on the phone for long amounts of time! :D

We are ingraining this horrid misconception into our CHILDREN! This is so WRONG! [/incoherent ranting]
I read about a study done with infants, where they were shown pictures of faces; they smiled at the 'pretty' ones (young women) and didn't at the 'ugly' ones (old women).
That sounds like you, Rhi.
Yup yup. One year I made a whole nativity set out of leaves.
We like talking on the phone for long amounts of time!

I don't! Well, I do it, with friends who live far away, etc., but I'm not a phone person. I like instant messenger better. I type better than I talk.

The-Elf-Herself

Well, my parents would argue that talking online and using a phone is the same thing, in that it uses the same line. I say 'but I can talk to FIVE people online, AND be surfing, AND be typing up a story. You can't do that on a phone,' but they say the principle is the same. I dunno.

I am definitely more articulate when I type.

Dragon
08-07-2003, 03:16 AM
yaarg... I missed a lot... and now I have a lot 2 say...hummahumma...where 2 start...

phone... articulation? I use lots of big words on the phone that ppl don't understand, but typing I can go back an dmake sure I did it right, so...yeah...I like 2 talk on the phone, but the phone syndrome didn't kick in until this summer bc ppl actually started (gasp!) calling me! wow...yeah...my parents would prefer I use the comp unless they have something they need 2 do on it, but most the time I prefer the phone bc then u can do voices and noises and play songs 4 the other ppl, and...yeah...

make-up... I prolly use it more than u guys do, but not really that often at all, I don't only use it on special occasions, but I know plenty of ppl who have never seen me wear make-up... I like using make-up, not 2 make me look prettier, but to make me look different, sometimes I just need 2 feel like I'm someone else, and it helps, I think make-up is...well... fascinating, and I love 2 put it on other ppl, too, it makes me feel powerful in a weird way, like I can change things.... it's funnny how stupid stuff like that can make me have all these "profound feelings" hooblah

nails....um... I'll pass, my nails are... I think the best word 2 describe them would b chewy...not 2 say that I chew on them, but they have about the same consistency as chewy foods, so...yeah, I have never had my nails done professionally, and I think it woul db a waste of time, I'm just gonna screw them up right afterwards anyways... I like nail polish, but I can't use it 4 my life, I wish I couyld take better care of my nails, but I'm just not that good at it...and... I'm beginning 2 think that the dirt under the nails comes from my fingers, bc I can clean my nails and not touch anything, and then look at them again in 5 mins and they'll b yicky

prettiness... I have a theory that most ppl r pretty 2 make up 4 other things they might b missing, and that's y most the interesting ppl (most) I meet are only so-so, or kinda pretty, not gorgeous

PMS...um...I think I'm the oppostie of most ppl, instead of getting really emotional, I stop caring...completely...well, not completely, all I care about is the painso, yeah, it makes it really hard 4 me to judge things properly then:rolleyes: :o

bran, out of ur list, these r true 4 me;

--You can be president.
--You can wear a white T-shirt to a water park.
--Car mechanics tell you the truth.
--You couldn't care less if someone notices your new haircut.
--You never drive to another gas station 'cause this one's just too "yucky".
--Wedding Dress $5,000; Tux rental $100. (I'm getting married in a tux....well...unless someone gets really persuasive...)
--New shoes don't cut, blister, or mangle your feet.
--Your pals are trusted to never trap you with: "So, notice anything different?"
--You know stuff about tanks.
--A five-day vacation requires only one suitcase.
--You can open all your own jars.
--Dry cleaners and hair stylists don't rob you blind.
--You can leave the motel bed unmade.
--You can kill your own food. (sure I can but y waste the energy?)
--You get extra credit for the slightest act of thoughtfulness.
--If someone forgets to invite you to something, he or she remains your friend.
--You can quietly enjoy a car ride from the passenger's seat.
--You don't have to clean your apartment if the maid is coming.
--You can quietly watch a game with a buddy for hours without thinking:
"He must be mad at me."
--You can drop by to see a friend without having to bring a little gift.
--You are not expected to know the names of more than five colors.
--You don't have to stop and think of which way to turn a nut on a bolt.
--You almost never have strap problems in public.
--You are unable to see wrinkles in your clothes.
--The same hairstyle lasts for years, maybe decades.
--One wallet and one pair of shoes, one color, all seasons.
--You can "do" your nails with a pocketknife.
--You can do Christmas shopping for 25 relatives on December 24th, in 45 minutes.

Ditto. When I'm typing, there are no awkward pauses and I have time to get my thoughts together and present them more coherently. (Contrary to popular belief, I am coherent sometimes. :p) Heh...if you think I'm scattered right now...you should talk to me in real life. :D But I still like talking on the phone, even though I certainly like AIM and e-mail as well. There's just something about hearing the other person's voice...I don't know.

the thing about phone conversations...well, it's not right...one mood all the time....no, I don't think so...and I don't know how much my underwear costs...

I already gave the exception for phones. The mood doesn't change except on very rare or traumatic instances. The underwear statement was showing how cheap it was. Instead of $20-$30 for one thing it's really cheap for a pack of them, and we don't need two underwear types...sorry.

Dragon
08-14-2003, 10:37 PM

Random thought ---> Shush, what does that writing under your pretty avvie kitty say...?

And now a few more scattered random thoughts ---> I love parachute pants. And peasant blouses. And jeans. :)

My "look" is whatever I feel like wearing during the thirty seconds it takes me to look through my closet, most of the time. ;)

As far as punk becoming a trend...urrrgh...*bristles*...I absolutely loathe punk preps. Ughhh...*twitches*...I hate them. They take everything that is original about the punk movement and commercialize it, taking away any scraps of significance that it once had. As D said, whatever the style, the popular girls will find a way to make it slutty and totally defile it...people like that need paint poured on their heads. :p

Women may be self-conscious sometimes. But Rhi is right, it's probably men's fault anyway. So double :p

I think Shushy means Avril Lavigne. But no, I don't really see her as a punk prep. I mean, her music is kind of punk/pop...but I don't see her as preppy. I mean, she certainly doesn't flaunt herself and she writes her own stuff, plays her own instrument, and doesn't lip sync. That's enough to earn her my respect. :)

Shush, could you type out that word for me? I can't quite read it on the avatar, but it looks pretty. ;) And how do you pronounce it?

Well, all right...It's not like I have a lot of experience with boys, besides my dad and brothers (dad is nice, but obsessive compulsive about things like lights being on and the rug being flat, and also not talkative; big brother has two settings, 'grunt' and 'lecture', and is also not talkative, and only nice when no one is looking, and sometimes insensitive- also his girlfriend's presence/being mentioned turns him in to a huuuuge dork; little brother is a little boy, meaning swords, guns, swords, and more guns- he's adorable and really very sweet and loving and nice, but also a little boy). I can count the guys I know (as friend/acquaintances) on one hand, and they're all on the internet, go figure. *counts* Bran, Quest, Chris, Eli...That's four.

That would be funny. :) I have a guy friend like that. But he's gay. I have another friend who's very perceptive about everything...he catches things about me that even I don't catch...but, like most guys, he doesn't say anything unless I bring it up. Or there is the rare occasion when he randomly brings it up himself, and then I spend the next half hour with a  face, agonizing over how he knew. I hate it when my girl friends talk when we think the guys aren't listening...and then the guys repeat everything we just said back to us about ten minutes later. So annoying...hate it when they catch us off guard.

I find your "boy experience" funny, Rhi. Not in a bad way or anything (I'm not making fun of you), but like always, it's the way you word it. I hear you about the little brother - all three of mine are still in the sword/gun phase, though the oldest is getting into more sophisticated swords and guns, being twelve and all.

I find your "boy experience" funny, Rhi. Not in a bad way or anything (I'm not making fun of you), but like always, it's the way you word it. Thank you ;) I knew what you meant.

I hear you about the little brother - all three of mine are still in the sword/gun phase, though the oldest is getting into more sophisticated swords and guns, being twelve and all.

*rolls eyes* My dad and my brother and my sister and my uncle and my little brother are all obsessed with guns. Ever be watching a movie and have your eight year old brother identifying the make of all the weapons used? "Oh, he's got a Browning rifle. Those were used in 1867 before they were replaced with the Smith & Wesson in 1870, which had a superior loading system...." (paraphrase using random dates and gun names). He's EIGHT!

my friends on the other hand, have progressed 2 real swords, but they try 2 fight eachother w/ them.... which.... is not very smart...

Oooh, what kind? Olympic style fencing, with foils and sabres, or broad- and long-swords and things?

The other day at my other forum someone mentioned their speaker at camp, who asked the girls to raise their hands if they had practiced kissing on Barbie/Ken...and at least half raised their hands. My response-

"Pillow.

....still pillow, actually. Only now the pillow has Faramir written on it."

LOL, I find it SO funny when I walk in on my brother - either the eight year old or the twelve year old, but it's funnier with the older one - and find him playing with his action figures, making the sound effects and doing all kinds of different voices for the dialogue. It's like he's in his own little world, unaware of me in the doorway or of the fact that he's saying everything out loud instead of in his head.

I have one friend like that - he's obsessed with real weapons, not the little plastic ones. He's fifteen, but he's surprisingly responsible with them, for a teenage boy. He never fights other people with them, but he does practice with them by himself...he's got two broadswords and a battle axe, as far as I know...he's always looking on e-bay for more.

I really don't know, Shush. I think he's trying to give you a compliment...trying to tell you that he trusts you more than he trusts other girls. Maybe it's just a guy thing.

Ahh, see, that would be my cousins. My father is very anti-guns...the ultimate pacifist. (He was a hippy Jesus Freak in the 70s. :D) So my brothers really have nowhere to get all the gun information from (though that doesn't keep them from making it up themselves). But my mom's brother and his sons (11 and 13) are Texan hunters, and they know everything about guns...and just weapons in general.

And my dad and brother did kendo in Japan. We like swords :D But it is really dangerous to mess around with them if you don't know what you're doing. Are they're swords sharpened, or blunt? What kind of protective gear do they wear? All important questions...

Just being random. I liked Barbie, but as an extension of my life long obsession with costumes. Rhian was not interested in dressing Barbie up in street clothes and walking her to the mall. Rhian wanted to dress Barbie up in large, poofy, fancy ball gowns and have her kidnapped by the evil witch.

G.I. Joe- The all American hero. The only action figures I ever really owned. My friends and I would set up battle fields and shoot the little missle launchers they had at each of the guys taking turns until one person "lost" all of their guys.

I have one sword(so far). Mac posted some pics of it on Turin's "Favorite Sword" thread in Bag End. It's nice looking. Mac has a practice sword that is really easy to handle and it's one handed. Mine is one handed but A LOT heavier than his so it takes some getting used to. But it looks really cool. I want to get a Scottish broad sword....

Both are true, Kailita.. I don't know if you are speaking of my old avatar or of the new one, but anyway, it's Satine on both. (As I think I've already said somewhere, she just proves that being pale do not mean being ugly:), and I feel very concerned by this problem). For the Evanescence song, it's from "My Immortal", but in fact the main reason is that it very strongly remembers me someone. (and it's an insane thought). The title says everything, I'm afraid.
My " deep thought" is also from an Evanescence song, but in the first album, I think it's very true. I love Amy Lee's writings, she says things that I had not found until then, and I always wonder: How does she know that???

Kailita
09-06-2003, 03:03 AM
Amy Lee has a beautiful voice, but sometimes I wonder how disturbed her soul is. Though I guess she does have some songs that are...well, hopeful might be stretching it, but "not depressing" would be accurate. Still, whenever I want to brood...or just listen to killer music :)...I find Evanescence. I've never heard the first album, though I'd like to. But I have Fallen.

The-Elf-Herself
09-06-2003, 03:38 AM
I wouldn't wonder too much about her soul Kai. I've written some really awfully depressing stuff that makes people who know me as this funny cynical optimist wonder where I found the emotions to write ot. Sometimes writers use music to 'write out the darkness', that's what I do, because if it stayed inside me I would have suffered a breakdown by now. I really like her stuff, but it's weird, the more I write my own songs, the less I can really use the words of others to say what I want. I just end up getting frustrated and writing out my own original songs while their stuff is still playing. *still wants a copy of Origin*

Kailita
09-06-2003, 05:13 AM
Yeah, I'm like that too, to some extent. I think we all are - none of us are happy all the time, and I doubt anyone is completely dark and hopeless all the time either. We're all complicated multi-dimensional people...hence the many complicated multi-dimensional songs and poems. :) And thank goodness. Next to insanity, variety's the spice of life, right?

I didn't know where to put this, so, the chatter thread it is.

I was at another forum (and I hear you say "*gasp*! she is unfaithful!) and I was in a poem section. I saw a poem called "cold, hard friendships" and it depressed me. I didn't even read the poem and I was depressed.

also, negative numbers depress me, I dunno y, it has nothing to do w/ the dificulty, I have no problem using negatives, but whenever I come to an equation in my homework that has negatives, or a negative answer, it makes me sad. and if I have an equation that's made up completely o fnegatives and has a negative answer, by the time I'm finished w/ it I feel like commiting suicide. I really wanna know y.

does anyone else have little things that depress them for no apparent reason?

The moment I wake up
Before I put on my make up
I say a little prayer for you..
While combing my hair now
And wondering what dress to wear now
I say a little prayer for you...

Forever, and ever, you'll stay in my heart and I will love you
Forever, and ever, we never will part oh how I love you
Toghether, forever, that's how it must be, to live without you
Would only mean heartbreak for me...

D, I thought of something! Something that makes me depressed for no apparent reason! I was reading your post in the ranting thread about liking sunsets more than sunrises, and I thought of this.

I like sunrises better, because sunsets make me depressed. There is a reason though, I guess. Sunsets signal the end of the day...the light is fading away...and slowly everything is just consumed by darkness. Kind of depressing when you think about it - even though I love the night and the moon and the stars. But it's the sun slowly sinking away that makes me sad. It's like the day is over and you can't have it back and there's nothing you can do to stop it...or that's how I feel anyway. Kind of obscure, I know, but I can't find any better way to explain it. Sunrises are opposite - it's a new day and you get to start over and all these new opportunities are right in front of you.

Arebeth
09-10-2003, 05:54 PM
Kailita. Stop it. Please.
I like sunsets, too. And you just made me realise for which bad reasons I did. (I have a gift to find what I want or don't want to be told in almost everything, it's not your fault) Wrong idea association, again.

Rhiannon
09-10-2003, 08:59 PM
I love sunsets. I love watching everything fade in to darkness. And I love the moon. My younger sister is fanatical about any and all things moon related- that is, she's literally a lunatic- so maybe it's hereditary. But I adore nothing so much as moonlight. I love it when the moon's full, because for most of the night it's just outside my bedroom window. My bed is right under the window and the light pours in and over my pillows and it is absolutely wonderful. I stop reading early so I can turn off the light and admire it while I go to sleep.

Arebeth

I have a weird fear about full moon (I know there's a thread somewhere...). When I watch it, I feel like bad things will happen if I stop looking at it. It's really strange -some kind of superstition, I presume- and given that "bad things" for me are really bad things (I begin to be absolutely sure that someone is dying or so, "it has to happen one day it can be today oh God please no" at the moment anyway- fear of numbers I presume. Bad numbers). So I stay and spend minutes watching the moon. I love it.

Oooh, Last night was a harvest moon. Really beautiful.

I am not a specific type of person(morning or night) I am up at both, but I guess I prefer night just because it isn't so bright. My room is made to be pitch black. I like the dark, so sue me. It really has helped with my night vision though. I can walk around outside when it's really dark and be able to do anything I want and not hit anything. People get upset with me sometimes because of it too. It's fun to leave people behind to find their own way then wait and listen. It never fails that someone will hit something with some extremety.

I love the night, too. And I adore the moon and the stars...I love to find constellations. And there is very little that is more beautiful than a full, glowing moon. I always go out on my driveway and lie out so I can stare up at the night sky. So it's not that I have anything against the night...I just don't like the inbetween time, the fading time. Dusk, I guess it's called.

Aiieee! My twelve year old brother and I have been concocting plots to climb onto the roof for a while now. It's slanted and pretty high up, but not too steep once you're on it - or that's what it looks like, anyway. Technically we wouldn't know because we haven't been up there yet. But there's a shed in our backyard that's tall enough for us to get on the roof from the top of it...and we can climb onto the shed roof by clambering up some firewood stacked beside it. It's just difficult to do it without getting caught, because the shed is metal (weird, I know, but it would make sense if you saw it) and rusty and really creaky when you climb on it. And of course that just won't do, because if our parents knew what we were trying to do...well, they wouldn't approve. But I think it would just be so wonderful to climb up on the roof at night and stare up at the stars...:)

there's a little section of the roof that's lower down bc it used 2 b a 1 story house, and my dad added the second story (I dont' know how, pls dont' ask) but he didn't add it over his and moms room, which is right below/next to my room, so if I opened my window, all I would hafta do is strech a little bit to get onto that part of the roof, and I could get to the rest of the roof from there.

and if not from there, there's a cedar tree right in front of our house that, if you climb high enouhg, u get to the roof, we've done it b4:D

All right, Rhi, what do your deep thoughts mean this time...?

My friend Cadenza (one of my numerous adopted sisters, so one of yours too...in a complicated, twisted way), translated it to Latin for me :D It's the motto I picked to go on my coat of arms. "No living man am I."

Mmm... I think so too...

I'm so happy: I'm going to play Ophelia!!! OK it's in French and with amateurs, but anyway I've always wanted to play her! Especially when she becomes kind of crazy...

Rhiannon
09-21-2003, 06:11 PM
Yay Arebeth! That's awesome! Ophelia is cool. Much cooler than, say, Juliet (blegh). Love Hamlet. Have you seen Kenneth Branagh's movie version? It's awesome.

Kailita
09-21-2003, 06:38 PM
Ophelia! Ooh, how fun! :)

I've never seen any movie version of Hamlet, but I like the play. Much much better than Romeo and Juliet. Hamlet and all his introspective confliction...ooh, I love it. :D We have to read Julius Caesar this year in English class. I know the basic gist of the story, but I've never read the play. Does anyone know if it's good?

Rhiannon
09-21-2003, 06:43 PM
Julius Ceasar is supposed to be One of the Great Ones, but I haven't read it either. I don't like to read Shakespeare much- It's a play, after all, it's supposed to be performed!

I love Kenneth Branagh's Shakespeare interpretations; I love his Much Ado About Nothing- it's Shakespeare, it's hysterical, it's in gorgeous Itally, I love the costumes, it has Kenneth Branagh and Emma Thompson, what more can you want?

Denzel Washington, of course- fortunately he's in it too ;)

Branagh's done Hamlet, Love's Labours Lost (my least favorite, but still good), Much Ado About Nothing, and Henry V (awesome).

Kailita
09-21-2003, 06:48 PM
*Adds Much Ado to list of movies she must see*

I really don't know very much about Shakespeare's histories. Henry V is good? What's it about? How many Henrys were there, anyway?

Rhiannon
09-21-2003, 07:03 PM
Much Ado is awesome- but there is some non-sexual nudity in the beginning (the prince is coming, and everyone is running around in a frenzy washing and frolicking in the water). You don't really see anything but buttocks, and I think it's still rated PG-13. And it's just the beginning opening credits- easily skipped.

Just so you know.

Henry the V is...about Henry the V (there were lots of Henrys. Henry the 8th is the one who beheaded his wives. I think Henry the 2nd was the one married to Eleanor, meaning his son was Richard the Lionheart and he's the one that murdered Becket...I'm not really sure. I'd have to check). Henry the V got in a war with France (huh, imagine that) over land (wow, again?). He was a fairly young king, and the movie is about him becoming the man who has to be king- Branagh is really good. Emma Thompson is also in this one, in the small role of the Princess of France, and she is wonderful. In the end of course Henry gets what he wants and makes peace with France by marrying the princess (the prince died in the big, gut-wrenching battle scene, but I don't think Henry would've married him anyway), and his proposal is absolutely one of the best theatre moments ever. Forget "Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou-"

But Much Ado About Nothing is still my favorite. I adore Beatrice.

Beatrice: I wonder that you should still be talking, signor Benedick, nobody marks you.

Benedick: What! My dear Lady Disdain- are you yet living?

Beatrice: Is it posible Disdain should die when she has such meet food to feed upon as signor Benedick? Courtesy herself must convert to Disdain.

Benedick: Then is Courtesy a turncoat. But it is true that I am loved of all women only yourself excepted and I wish that I could find in my heart that I had not a hard heart, for truly, I love none.

Beatrice: A dear happiness to women. They would else be troubled with a most pernicious suitor. I thank God and my cold blood I am of your humor for that. I would rather hear my dog bark at a crow than a man swear he loves me.

Benedick: God keep your ladyship still in that mind, that some gentleman or other may escape a pre-destinate scratched face.

Beatrice: Scratching could not make it worse ere it were such a face as yours were.

Benedick: Well, you're a rare parrot teacher!

Beatrice: A bird of my tongue is better than a beast of yours!

...all delivered rapid-fire between Kenneth Branagh and Emma Thompson. It brings tears to the eyes, really it does.

Shakespeare was so good at arguments. :D Kat and Petruchio do an exchange similar to that in Taming of the Shrew that is very fun to watch and even more fun to perform. :) But the end of that play irked me.

Anyhow...Outcast Greeting and Chatter type stuff...

Where is everybody these days? Is everyone as consumed with schoolwork as I am, and that's why no one is showing up? Or do we just have nothing to talk about...? *Bands with Rhian, D, and other people who can talk walls to death when they have the mind to*

And Bran. Where has our big brother gone...? *Looks about, put out at the thought of no one to irritate* :p

Okay, here's something chattery that won't fit in any other topic: I always imagine Bran, wherever he is, as sounding like the lead singer of Kutless. I have no idea why. [/randomness]

I've seen it and I'm a huge, huge fan of this movie.(I think I've already said it somewhere.) I really have to buy the DVD. Does anybody know what is Kenneth Branagh doing these days? He was great in Harry Potter, but...

And what's Kutless? Never heard of them...

Kutless is a band. A very very good band. Cheers for Christian rock! :) But I've never heard the lead singer of Kutless actually talk instead of sing...and I don't imagine Bran singing his posts...so I really don't know how I can imagine them as sounding alike, but I do. It's all very confusing.

D, when do you get ungrounded...? :(

I don't know Kutless...The last four CDs I've listened to: The Swan Princess soundtrack ("Practice! Practice! Practice!"), Manheim Steamroller's Fresh Aire I, Mary Black's Holy Ground, and Billy Joel The Complete Greatest Hits that just arrived today. I like Billy Joel because it's just the right range for me to sing along (most things aren't).

Actually I don't really sound like the lead singer of Kutless I guess it would be more like Jeremy Camp.

I've heard so many times - christian rock. But I still don't understand what exactly it means. I've never heard of Kutless. But if I'm not mistaken Creed is considered to be a christian rock band:confused:

Sorry, I would have clarified earlier if I'd have known that you didn't know what it was. Maybe it is an American concept. You don't have to worry about making a fool out of yourself - this is the Guild of Outcasts,
