This is *finally* done... week of work in photoshop, heh. I like it though. It's Luthien Tinuviel when she sees Beren watching her dance. The tree part of the background is not mine, it's a pic I swiped off of one of apple's screensavers and added a few filters to... maybe one of these days I'll draw my own background for it.

Very nice, Tal. The total pic has a good layout and composition, plus the mix of the two media works rather well.
Keep up this work. :)

Beautiful!
I like the softness you gave it. :) And I LOVE Luthien's necklace and dress.
Can I ask a question? How do you get things like jewelry and the hair to have that shiny lifelike quality? I've tried adding highlights and things to those items in my work...but I've obviously not mastered it yet or I would've posted something by now. ;)

Looks like you're picking up on it quite nicely. Great work! She looks really cool.;)

In photoshop I usually do a base color, then (old style here) use the burn tool on that color to put in the shadows, and dodge tool to add highlights. This new style all my brushes were on opacity at 25%-50%, so first I'd put down a base color, and then get a darker color (not the same color made darker, but a color close to the base color made darker) and put that where I wanted things darker, and then get a lighter color for the highlights. When doing the hair I do the colors in strokes going the same way as the way I want the hair to go. After I have all the colors in I use the smudge tool to mix them together somewhat. A note: I usually do all this with my tablet.

Very nice Tal. :)
Could you perhaps come up with one of those circular heraldry designs for mirkwood for me?
I'd like the main color to be green, of course. ;)

New art! This is an experiment in grey, hehe... bit of a pain to do, but in some ways, easier than other colors.
And sure Scatha, I'll try to get to it sometime this week or next.

Thankee Isenho :)
'Nother new piece, MacAddict did the background in Bryce, I did the mermaid in photoshop
Note: the picture is actually bigger than this by a lot... stupid TTF size limit!
I love that "nightwish" picture. It's mysterious and sad but full of goodness and hope.
Beside, it portrays a character of the story that I'm writing at the moment SO well. :D

This was a project in my Illustrator class at college... we had to pick out an illustration, then trace over it as best we could using what we've learned so far... this is the original illustration I chose:

And this is what I did with it :)

Oh yes, and this was another one I had to do for class (tutorial thing out of the book we use)

I couldn't see them until I saved the file to my desktop. The Africa one said it couldn't be displayed because it was corrupted but the hats looked really cool. I like the blue one in the top left and the green and white one next to it. :)

Hmm, ok.... I've been having troubles with people being able to see pics I stick on my website... need to look into that...
Wonko The Sane
09-13-2003, 03:03 AM
I can't see either of the pictures....
But as for the mermaid picture, is there any way to soften the lines a bit? Because the contrast between the harsh dark lines of the Mermaid is a bit strong against the soft lines of the waves...
But it's beautiful despite that...I just wish I could do something that good....

This is MacAddict's film company logo... he was trying to get it to look like line art with photoshop, and it wasn't working too well, so I did it in Illustrator for him and fixed some design problems while I was at it. :) I'm very proud of it, heehee. Note: the colors are slightly off cause I had to convert it from cmyk to rgb when I made it a jpeg :( The colors don't blend as much in cmyk
oh yes, and here's a doodle I did in class :D everyone else was doing their stooopid hearts, so I did this, woohoo!

EDIT: I fixed the Africa and the Hats pics, I hope.... see if you can get to them now

Oooh, I love it! The colors are fantastic, and I really like that style. I love anything with styla- styaliz- you know what I mean- black lines. And the colors give it that stained glass look.
