Elessar Telcontar II/ Mithlond-Himling
*The militant fleet creeps up to the city. Elessar stands on the prow of the foremost ship, looking out. The Arnorian army is ahead. They have surrounded the city. Elessar orders all ships to halt, and only his small boat has yet been in veiwing range of the city, and they were still not seen. The ships stop in a cove near to a half-mile from the docks of the city. Elessar boards a small vessel and comes to the ground. He stalks through the forest to get closer to the city, and to see what is going on within. After an hour or so he immerged, and reported to his captains. The force in the city was preparing, rather well, he though, to an attack by the beseiging arnorian army. Their only un-protected flank were the docks. Elessar immediately saw to it that half of his men were placed in life-boats, the other half were left on three fast-sailing ships. He ordered a group of five scouts to go and watch for signs of Arnor's attack on the city. When it came they were to shoot a lighted arrow into the sky. He turned to face the water that was flowing steadily from the river Greyflood. He raised his hands and muttered a few words in ancient quenyan- a spell for the water, and a prayer to Ulmo... There would be fog over the water in the morning, the thickest fog he could bring.

The envoy of Mornclaur stands and bows to all present.
'May good fortune follow your efforts in is dealing these rebels. I go now as best I can to return to the Towers of Beraid Rhun, with your messages. Mayhap I will return when all is in better order!'
With that he strides out with a flourish, drawing his dark cloak about him. He calls for his horse, and makes his way down the Senate steps into the wide majestic boulevards of Annuminas. He pauses to give a few coins to an old, sick man who is slowly passing. His horse is brought to him and he springs into the saddle and with a clatter of hooves departs towards Tharbad.

Excellent. All governors (except those I've spoken to and know they are still around) have reported except SpencerC18.
By Imperial Power, I hereby dissolve SpencerC18's governorship. A new governor will be found, or the province will be governed by an adjacent province.
Progress is being made against the Rebel positions. They should be subdued within 2 (rl) days.
I am saddend that he didn't respond. Mayhap there was a good reason like his grandmother was sick in the hospital and he had to stay there day and night. I hope you hear his reason before dissolving him. That seems unfair. But you are the Imperial One, and I will not defy you. But wasn't that only 2 days? You said 4.
While I am away, I give Aredhel permission to speak for me.

'Twas four. Regardless of the excuse, a decree is a decree, and I can't have governors that don't pop in for weeks at a time.
The renegades in Earhwesta have been routed, and the militias of nearby provinces are helping with the cleanup.
As for the Army, we will be promptly returning to Gondor to conclude the festival there.
That is good news.
True, Cir, if didn't come for several weeks, than I can see why.

The envoy of Mornclaur arrived at Tharbad. The next leg of his journey was to the Gap of Rohan. Another long ride, and he was weary. Very weary in fact.
He coughed roughly, and wiped the sweat from his brow, and headed for an inn in the town.
He ordered a meal and a drink, and a bed for the night. The inn-keeper looked at him warily, and was obviously trying to avoid him. 'Ha! The aura of power,' thought the envoy. He sat in the bar awhile, and listened to the tales of the rivermen, and travellers on the road. All about him was gossip about war, pestilence, and rebellion. He heard rumours that the Gap of Rohan was closed to travellers.
'Then I will take a boat downriver, and try to get someone to sail to Ethir Anduin I think.'

*Stumbling into the room tired and bloodied*
Lord Ciryaher, please except my apologies, I'm very sorry for being absent here for so long but, I was absent here for good reason. I had to leave my province without word because my family was under attack by orcs. My father and mother were traveling in a caravan from Rivendell and they were ambushed. They were seriously injured but they are in my region as I speak. I ask only that you forgive me and not dissolve my leadership.
But I need rest, sire.
*Falls into his seat*
Ciryaher
06-20-2002, 10:23 PM
I see. That is an adequate excuse, but you should have sent a messenger. Communication is vital, especially if orcs are in Arnor.
For now, you will be steward of Forolosse, but not governor until I decide at a later point.

"Greetings fellow governors. Do forgive me for interupting any current discussions. I would like to take this time to thank everyone who assisted me during my crisis in Earhwesta.
It is always a shame when such senseless tragedy must hit innocent people as it did in the Lands of Earhwesta. However, your generosity and goodwill has been a shining star of hope to those who have lost so much. You provided men, when so many were lost. You donated food and helped to put up shelter in the ravished lands of what was once Meltestasia and Eargond. And you're financial contributions donated at the Music Festival has helped to raise valuable funds for the reconstruction of those two destroyed cities. Your generosity is greatly appreciated will not be forgotten.
On behalf of the hundreds of survivors in both Meltestasia and Eargond, I sincerely thank you all.
Ciryaher
07-11-2002, 12:30 AM
Ciryaher nods and smiles softly, "We are all eager to help with the full reconstruction of Earhwesta. This will tie into a new campaign I am creating."
He stood, and spoke as he walked about the senate hall. "You see, it seems to me that the world has changed. With the Dark Lord's wherabouts in question, and our military campaign against him a severe....waste of time. I will abandon this campaign for another..."
At this, he took a small pouch from his tunic and held it aloft. "This, my friends is a precious thing. Without it, the Empire would grind to a halt and fall apart. Without it, too, the Dwarven Kingdoms around us would keel over and die."
Suddenly, he tossed the pouch to Senator Baggins, who expected to be pounded by the weight of gold. To his surprise, there was little weight at all. "Senator, pour the contents of the bag on your table, please," Ciryaher said, smiling at the congregation.
Kit tipped the pouch over, and out of it spilled an assortment of grains, seeds, and beans. There was a murmur of amusement. "Humour you find in these? I see only potential. Arnor is largely unused open land...if we were to utilize at least forty percent of arable land for agriculture (both farming and ranching) we would be an economic force upon which Middle-Earth could depend heavily. Our foods and textiles could be traded for metals and stones."
Kit Baggins
07-11-2002, 12:31 PM
Kit suddenly understands what Ciryaher means.
"There is plenty of arable land in the Shire and Breeland that can be used for farming, my Lord." he says. "And we are rarely at war, so there would be no threat to our economic future."
SpencerC18
07-11-2002, 02:56 PM
Lord Ciryaher, Forolosse is ready for this campaign. We already have large grounds for ranching.

"This campaign will begin within the month. New farming techniques will be taught to all farmers, and iron plows and stock animals will be given or sold at discount.

OOC:
I'm just wondering, but Dengen Gorgoth is the supposed "Dark Lord" right? Well is it just me or should it be someone else. I mean what kind of Dark Lord talks about "beautifying the land" and such. If you ask me I think he should change his name or something, because it's just plain silly. And what does he do that makes him so dark anyway?
And SpencerC18 isn't crazy at all. Get this through your brain. IN THE FORUM EVERYONE HERE HAS SOME SORT OF A CRAZY NAME. IT'S JUST HOW THE FORUM GOES. I would check yourself before you go teasing other people about their names and intrests. Yeah, its RPG, but so what? Its bloody corky, and some people enjoy that.
Personally, I think someone else should be the Governer of Forlosse. Hmm?
Talierin

OOC:
Dengen-Goroth, unlike your name Spencer, actually means something in Quenya... not that I remember what it is, but DG constructed it to mean something. I do remember it's something dark...
And even though he's not that dark, I'd rather have him as Dark Lord than anyone else on here.
Kementari

SpencerC18
07-14-2002, 12:22 AM
Ok first off, if Mirina could pull his/her head out he/she might be able to understand SIMPLE english. I was commenting on the fact that he calls himself the "Dark Lord", when he does nothing dark, he's beautifying middle-earth, uh oh, I am terrified.
Secondly, I think Dengen Gorgoth is a cool name I was talking about his Dark Lordship. Maybe you should actually read what I say before you comment on it.
Thirdly, I was stating my opinion. You don't need to rush to his side when I was never making a verbal attack on him, I wasn't even teasing, I'm just saying he shouldn't call himself the dark lord, when he's more like the nice gardener.
And Talierin anyone could be a better dark lord. You wouldn't hear Sauron running around planting trees, no he would rip one out of the ground and beat you with it.
My apoplogies to Ciryaher, if I have offended you, I just never realized that a couple of these Governors jump to conclusions and can't read right.

An icy chill stole around the chamber, causing all who sat within to shiver. Then came a man, short and sturdy, and dressed in furs from the far north. And he had snow on his boots, as he came within saying:
'My lords I come in haste from Forlosse, with dread news. There the winter is harsher than in many years past, and I see the snows are now falling here in Annuminas. Some contrivance of the Dark Lord it is perchance! For as though they are the biting jaws of the storm, come white wolves in great numbers. Great harm they have done to our herds. Alas our great wall has not kept them out, for all the Bay is frozen, and now they run across freely. Lately they are as far south as Helkamardi and Forogond, in many packs. Each packs is maybe five score strong, and we cannot count how many fell groups there are but some reckon there to be a score of packs of these beasts.'
He stopped and paused. 'Forgive me! my lord Emporer!' he said bowing. 'I forgot my place to burst in in such a manner. My name is Hithgal of Forlosse, and I am in great dread. There is a fell light in their eyes!' And they saw now he clutched his arm in pain, and his clothes were stained dark red.

A runner from the Imperial Army hands General Ervukea a message:
Hail my lord General, in the name of the Emporer, may the Valar protect him!
from Captain Bervedui of the Highland Division, greetings!
I wish to report some success in destroying the white wolves. We have come upon a half a dozen packs so far, and destroyed many with arrows.
Alas, the worsening weather makes it hard for us to track them: fresh snowfall hides their prints, and the blizzards slow our movement. We find the wolves will not come nigh our soldiers, but rather prey upon the weak and defenseless. Oft we come to farmsteads and herders settlements too late, or finding them they flee swiftly and regroup elsewhere.
Thus are we hard put to the task, and fear it may take some time to accomplish, though we ourselves have lost but a handful of men. When the weather abates, funerals will be held in their honour.
Most importantly, I wish to alert you that it seems possible that some of the packs are coming further south with the snows. We fear that some may soon come upon Undertowers and Michel Delving in the west, and Fornost and the Breeland villages further east.
May the Lords of the West protect you!

The Emperor ponders for a moment, with the new letter in hand, then folds it and sets it beside himself. "Alas that I must do this, but I am calling up twenty thousands of Arnor's military to garrison every town in a line from Forlond to Rivendell along the Great East Road. Every town will have a garrison of 100 soldiers, which will leave us plenty to strike northwards at any incoming packs. All message-runners and scouts will travel in armed groups of 5 at the least. All citizens living north of the Great East Road are advised to relocate south until the packs have been sought out; or they may band together into militias which will be equipped from the Imperial Armouries in Fornost Erain."
He then turned to the first messenger. "May I now see the message?" which was more of a command than a request.

Attention all governors, soldiers, citizens of Arnor:
All provinces of Arnor are now in a state of full alert. All soldiers are hereby activated, and the drafting of all able men and women between 18 and 42 will commence in the event of hostility. Training and armament will begin immediately for all draftees, and soldiers will occupy the defensive position upon the Inner Line protecting all major cities in the heart of Arnor.
It is urged that ALL citizens outside the Inner Line of Defence prepare your belongings and be ready for an immediate evactuation to within the ring.

Ciryaher rises from his seat and walks down the aisle of senators. At the door he stops and turns around. "Those who will not join me in my vigil are to govern as best they can. I ride to the borders to see what goes...those who wish may come. I will send my findings via the Quick Post."
With that, he bowed to all and exited the Capitol. A brisk jog brought him to his stables, and he led forth the horse given to him long ago...by Eomer himself. Ciryaher's niece, Eariel, also came forth and mounted her own steed as did he. Girt with weapons, they thundered out of the gates of Annuminas and vanished.

Upon reaching the borders, Ciryaher is given a message that someone has been awaiting him there. In a black tent far from the tents of his men, Ciryaher finds his "guest". He walks into the tent, pushing the curtains aside. Sitting with her back to him is a woman. She wears a tight blood red shirt, long black skirts concealing tight pants and knee-high boots benealth, and her raven hair falls behind her in one long loose braid. Upon her wrist sits an eagle, in seeming tameness. "Ciryaher, I have come to over to you in this hour my services and those of my Dunedain." She murmers, stroking the bird. Arathin turns that she might look at her old friend and a slight smile hangs upon her lips for but a fleeting moment. "I offer you my 500 Dunedain warriors. All of true Numenorian blood, and each as 10 normal soldiers in battle. All have the tact of sword, bow, and mind. General worth are all, or however you place them within your rances. Just do not waste them. As you know, Ciryaher, we have no reason to get involved in this war. We have spoken of that before, but now I offer you our help." She walks past him to the curtain door, but pauses before she exits and whispers, "You will need it my friend. You will need it." Then leaves the tent and sets her bird to the air to gather her men.

After that, they will go to Annuminas to help with some special plans I will relay to you and the Emperess. Spencer, you will remain with Eariel. If a hair on her head is harmed, it will be taken out on you tenfold. I go now to check one last...thing... Do NOT follow me, and do not send messengers out after me. I will return shortly to Annuminas when I am finished."

Upon returning to the Atannore, Elbereth finds the two carven oak doors of the Capitol of Annuminas Building closed and the meeting halls empty. Pulling aside a guard she learns that Ciryaher and several of the Governors had arrived at the Borders of Arnor and will not be returning for a great while.
"Is there anyway I could contact Emperor Ciryaher?" Elbereth asked urgently. She had very little time to waste.
The guard paused mommentarily before he answered, "Well, your Majesty, you could send a message by Quick Post. Although I can not guaruntee its prompt delivery, as many roadways have been blocked off due to the forthcoming war."
"Well, it must be risked. I have no time travel to the borders myself. I must return to Gondor right away." Elbereth said. She then jots a brief message on a piece of parchment and hands it to the guard to be delivered promptly.
She then blows a clear loud whistle, summoning a grand white eagle from the sky, who then carries her south toward Gondor.

07-30-2002, 11:54 PM
Ciryaher spotted the message immediately tied around the branch of a tree. The Quick Post had its ways, to be sure. Fading back into existence, he took down the note and read it. It was from Elbereth:
Emperor, the number will be 450 soldiers, 110 naval soldiers, and 250 troops will remain behind as home guard in the event of a home based attack. The dwindling numbers are due to the losses received at the Massacre of Meltestasia and Eargond in recent events.

As Ciryaher left, Arathin came out of her tent. Her gaze going to the woods to the East. In it shadows could be noticed. She screamed like an eagle, and out of the wood came a single man dressed in dark greens and browns with her eagle on his arm. He came up to her and bowed. "M'lady." She smiled. "You were very quick in calling up the men, Amandil. Are all 500 present?" "Of course, m'lady." "Good." Arathin turned to Eariel. "I trust you will take good care of my men. I must go to Annuminas and await Lord Ciryaher. Amandil is my head general. He and my four best Dunedain will accompany me. The rest I leave in your most capable hands." She called again like an eagle and 499 Dunedain warriors in full battle regiment walked out of the wood. "They are, as you can see, masters of remaining hidden. Silent as a mouse, more deadly then an enraged Ent, and as strong as stone. They will serve Arnor well." Then she and her five warriors mounted their horses. "They fight with long bow, duel-edged sword, and have a horse a piece. Place them well and place them sparsely for your best aid in them." With that she and her five guards rode off.

Ciryaher made his way along the Hithaelgir, stopping at irregular intervals until he came to the last hill of the range. Crossing over to the Ered Nimrais, he resumed his visits to small, inconspicuous caves. In all of these caves there sat a white obelisk carved with many runes. At each one, the Emperor stopped and placed both hands upon the obelisk. The obelisks would then glow brightly, then fade till they were barely luminous.
Thus the first line of Arnor's defense was prepared as the power of the Archheliomancer began to flow throughout the mountains.

In the northern mountains an orc scouting party came upon a curious phenomenon in a cave. A white stone, with strange markings.
'Argh!! What is this? Some elf-magic or tark scheme!'
'Aye! Curse 'em! That shouldn't be here, or I'd have heard. You!' the leader pointed to one of them. 'Go tell the bosses! Go on! Leg it!' The orc set off on his loping stride back to Mount Gram, several miles away.
Then the leader said 'Lets smash it!'
So they carried it out the cave into the open, and then set upon it, hammering upon it seeking to shatter it.

Immediately, Ciryaher felt the disturbance in his field of energy and pinpointed it with his mind. He sent a burst of energy along the line of stones to the cave that was under vandalization.
The orcs saw the pillar suddenly become blindingly bright, and it was filled with the light of the naked sun. The entrances of every one of the caves closed instantly, and the stone faded to a reddish glow. The orcs looked at the stone, and sneered.
"Gar! Just a little light trick," one laughed, "Hardly fit to scare a spineless man-child."
The others joined in and raised their weapons to continue the defacement of the stone, but they were instantly vaporized as the little cave was filled with the Flame of Anor; not even their weapons remained when their bones were burned away.

Arathin senced the great power of Cir's spell, but couldn't pinpoint it as he had. She continued on her way with her five guards.

Having circuited around Arnor to the Blue Mountains, Ciryaher finally returned to Annuminas at sunrise. He silently entered the empty halls of the Capitol and sat upon the right proconsul's chair. Wordless he waited, staring at the empty seat to his left. After a long while, he finally spoke his thoughts aloud, "Where are you, Gondor? Where are you, my kindred, in this hour of needed council?"
All day he sat there, until the setting sun heralded the arrival of the Praetorian Guard and the Dunedain.
Night was already fallen for some hours when the voice of the Emperor tore through the halls of Annuminas. SENATORS! Come here immediately!! he shouted, and then every bell and klaxon in the Empire was struck repeatedly.

08-03-2002, 02:04 AM
Arathin heard the bells ringing from her room at the inn she was staying at, and decided she should go and see what Ciryaher wanted. She and her guard, who never left her, hurried to the palace. At the front steps, she was stopped by Arnorian guards. "Let me pass. I must speak with Emperor Ciryaher." "I am sorry, m'lady, but I have not your name on the list." "Let me pass or go and get your lord, but either way, I must speak with him." The guard sighed and let her pass with her guard. Her guards looked very formitable, and he didn't want to get into a fight with even one of them let alone five. Arathin passed into the main hall and walked rapidly toward the senators meeting hall, looking for Ciryaher.
Elbereth
08-03-2002, 09:56 AM
At the gates of Minas Tirith, Elbereth waves farewell to her husband as he leads the last two armies of Gondor toward the skirmishes in the north. With her mind now clear of worry, Elbereth is finally able to hear in the distance the calls of Emperor Ciryaher and the toning bells of Annuminas.
Much alarmed by it's urgent tone, Elbereth issues forth a clear whistle, which summons her Winged Silver friend, who carries her swiftly to the halls of Annuminas.

*Arriving at Senate*
"Many appologies Emperor Ciryaher. I did not mean to keep you waiting, however, there was much to be done in Gondor as you may understand. However, I am now at your full disposal. How may I assist you Lord Ciryaher?" Elbereth says with a curtsy.
Ciryaher
08-03-2002, 10:18 PM
Ciryaher gestured to the seats of the Senate. "I summoned you here because of the war that now comes. You must all be prepared to evacuate if our resistance around Fornost and Annuminas breaks. Instructions will be given in the event of need. All I can ask is that if you wish to fight, do so with great valour. If you wish to remain out of conflict, remain here in the Capital and maintain order and vigilance."
Talierin
08-03-2002, 10:42 PM
A great black raven flew through the senate doorway, surprising the guards. It flew about the chamber once, then settled down on the top of Senator Talierin's chair. Ciryaher acknowledged the bird, seeing it had come in place of Talierin, and resumed talking.
Talierin had told the bird before she sent it that she would fight if need be.
Ciryaher
08-04-2002, 03:34 AM
Ciryaher nodded to the bird as a messenger entered. "Lord, Arathin of the Dunedain is here, and craves audience within the Capitol," he said, bowing.
"Allow her to enter," the Emperor answered, and dismissed the messenger. A minute passed, and the messenger returned, Arathin beside him. Ciryaher bowed and gestured to the messenger for a job well done. "Ahh, Arathin, there you are. As you can see, your Dunedain have arrived in Annuminas"
"Indeed m'lord they have," Arathin answered, looking around slowly.
Ciryaher thinks for a moment, "Arathin, do you know that there is no governor for the province of Mithlond? That province which contains your previous home of Himling?"
"No, m'lord Ciryaher. I had no idea that the Mithlond province was still ungoverned."
"Hmm....well, if you will accept the task in this dark hour, you are requested to govern the land," he said with a finger on his temple.
Arathin looked slightly shocked. "M'lord!" she bowed low, "M'lord I would be most honored to be given this responsiblity to you."
Ciryaher returned her bow, "Indeed, you shall henceforth be Governor and Senator Arathin of Mithlond/Himling." He then waved his sceptre in the shape of a star.
Arathin bowed again, "Thank you, Lord Ciryaher. I will serve you to my best capablities."
"Excellent," he said and rises, "That reminds me, my good senators! I have prepared a symbol for all of you of your office." He looked around inside his podium and produced a small box made of ash. An "A" rune was on the lid.
The Emperor stepped down and stood in the middle aisle, then opened the box. There was one ring for each province, and eash ring seemed to be the precise size for each wearer. "Take these, my friends. They are no great things, but it may help guide you when darkness seems near."
Arathin
08-04-2002, 03:50 AM
Arathin had taken an empty seat, and now rose again as her lord gave them all their symbolled rings. Arathin picked up her ring and gazed upon it. She regained her seat and waited for the others to take their seats again as well.

Tal's bird took her ring, and grasped it tightly in one claw, then returned to listening.
Aerin
08-04-2002, 05:31 AM
Aerin received message of the summoning from the capital. Saddling her horse, she rode off toward Annuminas.
Upon reaching the city, she threw herself off her horse in front of the Senate building, calling out for a stable boy to take care of her mount. Running up the steps, she brushed by the guards, for they recognized her, and quickly ran through the halls to the council room.
"I am sorry for the manner of my arrival; I did not receive the summons as quickly as I may have." Turning to Ciryaher, she said, "My troops are ready and waiting in Rhuduar; where may they be of the most service?"
Ciryaher
08-04-2002, 09:48 AM
Ciryaher bowed to Aerin as she entered, "All of your militia should be placed in northern Breeland as a buffer, so that the major cities will be fortified reasonably."
Elbereth
08-05-2002, 05:31 AM
After patiently awaiting Emperor Ciryaher's attention after the unexpected interuptions, Elbereth finally speaks up to answers his previously asks questions.
"Emperor Ciryaher, let me reassure you that I am willing to fight if there is great need...however I believe that I would best serve you as correspondant here in the capitol until such a time shall come. Please also know that I shall be traveling during the course of the war, overseeing the home guard in Earwesta, as well as returning to Gondor periodically to maintain order in my lands. However, I will do my very best to maintain consistant communication with Arnor during my absenses from the Senate. I do hope the Emperor will find this acceptable."
Mirina walked in, flanked by two handmaidens/guards.
I apologize for my belated arrival, Lord. I had some business to take care of. I am at your disposal. But, first, some news. An alliance has occured between Rohan and Lothorien.
Aerin
08-06-2002, 05:44 AM
Aerin nodded to Ciryaher and sent her guards back to Rhuduar to tell the troops where they were to be stationed.
Going to the middle of the Senate floor, she addressed the members gathered there, "The forces of the Mornclaur Federation are extremely powerful and moving swiftly across the face of our beloved lands. I feel that more action needs to be taken immediately to at least slow, if not halt, their advance.
What lengths we need go to in order to counter their moves must be drastic at this point, I fear. We have waited too long, and now we must suffer the consequences of our inaction. Instead of being able to quell this war in its beginning stages, we have let it progress until it has become an ever-growing crescendo.
A frontal attack against the enormous force of the Mornclaur Federation would be pure foolhardiness. Our troops would be slaughtered; our commanders tortured. We cannot risk such an assault.
My fellow Senate members, I ask you now, what can be done to the hordes of the Dark Legion? The answer must lie somewhere; all we need do is find it."
After speaking, Aerin looked around, waiting for a reponse from one of the members of the Senate.
Arathin
08-06-2002, 06:06 AM
Arathin ran her thumb over her lips in thought, then finally spoke out with an idea that she had been toying with for a while, but could get no further on by herself. "What if we tried to undermind them? They are sending almost all troops out in attack, so there "home" bases can't be very well guarded. I can't see how, and maybe one of you could fill that in, but if we destoried their bases behind their lines, tortured their generals a bit, we might be able to force some weakening or halt to their advancement."

Lord Ciryaher, the protection has done well what can I do now?
Ciryaher
08-06-2002, 10:47 PM
"I believe that Arathin and Aerin are thinking along the correct lines, my senators. Privately I will send you messages on what is planned...we cannot speak of it here."
Arathin
08-07-2002, 06:36 PM
Leaning back in her chair with crossed arms, Arathin closed her eyes nodding to herself. She was in deep thought, and pondering what her lord was planning. A messenger came in with an eagle on his arm. He whispered to Ciryaher that the eagle had come for Arathin, and Ciryaher motioned of the messenger to bring the bird to her. The eagle lands on her shoulder and begins to speak into her ear.
Mithrandir
08-07-2002, 10:23 PM
Riding at great speeds Mithrandir finally came to Annuminas. Riding up to the great gate he immediately got off his horse, and handed him to the guard. "Take my steed to the stables and feed him. He has ridden for days with neither food nor drink and is on the verge of death." With that said he disappeared in a flash.
The next place Mithrandir was seen was in his seat at the council of Ciryaher next to the raven Talierin had sent in her stead. "My lord," Mithrandir bowed as he was noticed,"my tardiness is unexcusable in this hour of need. I fell into many a trap on my way to and fro in the land, and my mind was in need of deep meditation. The enemy is great and I have goood and bad news. For the forces of Cardolan are prepared. But my council I fear is weakening. I sense much dispersion among them. If only we would all come together. I will aid you how I must my lord. What are your commands?....."
Ciryaher
08-08-2002, 01:42 AM
Ciryaher had fallen into a deep thought and came out of it as Mithrandir requested a command.
The Emperor rose and struck the wooden railing nearby with his sceptre, a determinedly fierce expression on his face. "You all are commanded to NEVER surrender. Retreat if you must, but the order stands to not surrender....under pain of torture and inevitable death."
Mithrandir
08-08-2002, 03:19 AM
Somewhat startled by the awkward reply Mithrandir looked Ciryaher in the eyes trying to delv into his thoughts. "My lord, that is one thing I would never even dream of. BUt I am stationed no where and have no commands. Please if you would, I long to be of service......."
Ciryaher
08-08-2002, 03:22 AM
The Emperor looked at Mithrandir. "Leave your militia to guard Tharbad, and relocate yourself northwards to prepare for the assault coming out of the north. I will place you with myself in the hills north of Fornost to combat an invasion from Angmar."
Mithrandir

08-08-2002, 11:20 PM
"The forces of Forolosse and Angmar should fall back to to northern Rhudaur as soon as possible."
Arathin
08-09-2002, 04:17 AM
Arathin rose to her feet. "M'lord, we are all eager to help, but we know yet not your mind. What is it you wish each of us to do? I for one refuse to sit idle while any of my fellows are attacked."
Ciryaher
08-09-2002, 06:30 AM
"These provinces will keep their militias on alert, but remain within their respective province:
Mithlond/Himling
The Shire-Breeland
Rhudaur
Eregion/Imladris
Cardolan
Earhwesta
Arthedain
And these provinces:
Forolosse
Angmar
Will move into Rhudaur."
He raised a finger then added, "Governors may travel within the borders of Arnor, unless (in Elbereth's case) they also have obligations elsewhere."
And on a final note he spoke icily, "Senator Kit Baggins, your absence is marked, and I am not pleased."
Arathin
08-09-2002, 05:26 PM
Arathin rose to her feet and bowed low to Lord Ciryaher. "In that case, m'lord. I have business. I must go to Mithlond and see to the militia. I will take my Dunedain with me, by your leave, and begin training my militia in the...proper.... military fighting technechs." Arathin then bowed again to Ciryaher and strode from the senete chambers. She quickly collected her Dunedain warriors and set out for Mithlond.
An eagle floated into the council chamber with a message to Lord Ciryaher.

"My Lord your commands shall be carried out with perfect precision. Now if I may be excused I am needed at Rohan for a couple of days. A messenger from Belegost arrives at the Gate of Annuminas requesting to deliver a message and a set of keys to the Emperor himself.
He is taken to the Emperor and hands over a letter.
If needed, here are the keys.
The hall is located close to the Arnorean city
of Meltestasia. It will be difficult to find, do
you ought to send scouts up ahead to locate it.
It will not be possible for you to see the door,
but there carved out a key on each side of the
door that you should be able to see.
Further, to reveal the key holes you have to put
one key at each carved key, that will reveal
two key holes on the door.
The letter was signed by the govenor of Belegost.
As the Emperor put down the letter the messanger
presented a shrine to him, it was made of gold and
was decorated with flowers and leaves made of mithril.
He carefully opened it and within laid two large keys.
Ciryaher
08-10-2002, 12:33 AM
Ciryaher took the shrine and delicately set it upon the stand next to his chair, then scrawled a reply:
To the Lord of Belegost
Arnor thanks you for this, and may the friendship between the Edain of Arnor and the Naugrim of Zirak Khazad never falter! I bid you good fortune and may your delvings in the earth be bountiful!
Signed,

He handed the letter to the messenger and bid him return it to the originator.

Arathin and her Dunedain had reached Mithlond. She immediately began to set about setting the affairs of her province straight. She began ordering her Dunedain to start training the province militia to fight as she saw fit for her militia to fight.
Valar
08-10-2002, 06:51 PM
Valar looked upon the white city, in a way it was prospering, the army had inproved tenfold, inner Gondor trade was good, and overall the citezens are happy. But something was lacking, and the weary Valar turned away and looked into a mirror. Dressed in his full kingly armor, he looked at the white tree on the chestplate, and he sighed. What was lacking was him, the people lacked the king they deserved. They have a gracefull queen, and a respected General. But the king was faded. Once a true warrior, comited but free. But the toil of being king had made him feel weary long before old age ever could. Still young and in his prime of life, Valar could not find an explanation in his mind of why this was, apart from his own mistakes. Valar the warrior and Valar the wizard, never expected to be Valar the King, and now he was he felt that he could not live up the expectations of others, and the expectations of himself.
Staring at the mirror, his reflection seemed to stand up straighter, and the looked in its eyes hardend. He would not give up. He will not be weak. As war approached he must lead his people, not sit in an ivory tower hardly directing the Gondorions, too the forfront of battle he shall go, to the front line.
"They deserve better" He told himself "And i will try to give them that, and if not i shall die trying. Too long i have stood idol, been neglective, but not anymore"
Drawing his sword, and watching into glimmor in the morning sun, he strode out of his chamber and down into the halls he met his his General.
Striding towards Maedros his eyes where set. "Have the other forces started towards there new posistions?"
"Yes sir, all defences have been put in place and the rest of the troops are on they're are on there way round to the places you said.
"Very good, then nearly everything is set"
Ciryaher
08-11-2002, 08:58 AM
Ciryaher drummed his fingers and stood, nodding to Aerin.
"Due to the departure of Aredhel, the governor of Eregion/Imladris; and the unexcused absence of Kit Baggins of the Shire, I am placing Governor Aerin Tantalė in command of Eregion/Imladris and The Shire/Breeland. This means that she is in control of the militias of these provinces, as well."
He stepped towards her and beckoned to Jahrdur and Ervūrkėa from their positions. "Aerin Tantalė of Rhudaur, I hereby name you second in command of ALL military forces in Arnor. As a sign of your position, I present to you a full set of the finest, lightest armour in the empire (superior to mine, even)," the two other generals hefted up a chest and brought it forward, setting it before Aerin with bows and congratulatory smiles. They opened it and there was a breastplate of polished mithril; the finest steel chainmail shirt, sleeves, and leggings; a silver helmet with golden accents; a fine steel shield emblazoned with the crest of Atannórė; and all the other pieces of armour made in a fine, light steel.
The Emperor gestured to the open chest, "Take these things, Friend Aerin, and lead the armies of Arnor to victory beside your fellows."
Aerin
08-11-2002, 09:22 AM
Aerin stood and bowed, "Many thanks, Lord Ciryaher. I am honoured by the command you have given me. I will serve Arnor and her people as best I can."
Turning to the generals, she asked, "Could you have the chest readied in case of my sudden departure?"
Beckoning to a servant, she sent him out to fetch a messenger to send to her commanders in Bree. Once the messenger arrived, Aerin hastily wrote on a parchment he produced.
To the Commanders of the Rhuduarian Troops
Your orders are to march 5,000 troops from Bree to defend Antothore. I want them replaced with 5,000 troops from the Shire to defend Breeland.
Do not move them too quickly; I wish them to be well prepared to fight when they arrive at their stations.
Stay alert and send any word of suspicious movement in the neighbouring areas. Await my further orders in Antothore.
Signed,
Aerin Tantalė

Emperor Ciryaher & Lord Governor Aerin-
All of Forolosse's forces have made it to Rhudar. Shall I stay within Rhudar or Forolosse or fight alongside you?
I have set a constant guard on the great wall. They will send me word of any transgression towards them. So far nothing has been reported.
Thelina, a small elven messanger 'toddled' in. In her hand was a message.
My lords and Ladies,
I write this with my own hand. Loriens forces are placed sproratically across the border. I am sorry I could not lend my help in the actual battle, but all Lorien can do right now is act defensivly. The previous war with the 'machines' has taken a toll on our forces. Several hosptals are being set up for your forces to come and be healed. That is all I can offer. I send my best wishes.

"Lord Ciryaher, I do appologize. I am afraid that the tides of War have turned and I am greatly needed in Gondor. I will send word of my location when it has been established. Until then bid thee farewell and may Eru be with you all in the coming days of darkness!"

The Grey Havens - Early Morning
Fog still swirled about the senitials' feet as they watched the harbor for any incoming ships, slowly scanning the horizon back and forth, ready to sound the bell if there was one. All was quiet at this hour. Then, like some dark ghostly form, a black sail appeared, then two, and three, and then suddenly there was 40 warships coming in with the tide, mournful, but majestic as it seemed, for these were the ships from Gondor, the white tree emblazoned on their black sails. 7 days it had taken them to reach Mithlond from Edhellond, sailing along the coast. The bell rang out for them, their rumor spreading throughout the port city and the citizens of Mithlond gathered to watch as they pulled in.
Talierin stepped off the leading ship, Mithrandir at her side. "We must go to the Senate of Atannore in Annuminas and speak to Lord Ciryaher, oré," she said to him. They waited till their horses had been brought up out of the hold of the ship, and then commanding the rest of the refugees to stay with the ships or to find places to stay with generous townspeople, they rode east towards Annuminas and Ciryaher.
Ciryaher
08-26-2002, 01:53 AM
Ciryaher had just stepped back inside the Capitol when he heard two horses approaching. He held the door open, and both of them stepped through; one clad in green and black, the other in radiant white.
He immediately embraced them both, "Friends Talierin and Mithrandir! It is good to see you here safely...come, we shall head to the senate chamber and you must give word of that which you have seen."
Arathin
08-26-2002, 03:07 AM
Arathin, upon hearing of Mith and Tal's arrival and quick departure from her land, mounted her horse, Gildar, and followed them to Ciryaher's citadal. She quietly joined them in the Senate hall to hear what was to be said. She figured, as they had fled to her land, it was her right to hear what was to be said, and if she was unwished for, they would send her out.
Mithrandir
08-26-2002, 04:07 AM
As the three convened in the Senate chambers Mithrandir took it upon himself to say the first words.
"My lord, we are indeed glad to be be here, but I am afraid we bring many ill tidings. We come from Cair Andros, where one of the bloodiest battles I have ever witnessed took place. We fought hard my lord, and pulled forth much strength, but I am afraid it was not enough. We did not expect the forces we were met with, and me and the lady even had some retaliation in the feild of magic. We lost a great deal of men, myself including 15 of my Mithril Knights, I am left with a mere 5. Talierin knows here exact numbers, and all I can say is they are very few.
The enemy has grown strong my lord, and if ever it was the time for Arnor to grow in strength than it is now. If not than I fear for the race of man itself."
With that Mithrandir sat down next to his wife, clenching her hand, not being able to say anything more for the moment, lost in a sea of memories from the horrible battle.
Ciryaher
08-26-2002, 04:27 AM
Ciryaher wore a stern and proud expression, speaking to all present in the Senate Chamber. "Arnor shall remain a stalwart bastion against Mornclaur. We shall fight to the last armed, sentient man, woman, or child. Fight we shall; overcoming our foe the objective of our very existence. We wield the Blessing of the West and the vision of Iluvatar, and with them we shall triumph."
His wrath rising to its pinnacle, he smote his podium with the Sceptre of Annuminas and splintered the wooden object to pieces.

When Aerin saw Talierin and Mithrandir arrive tired, but unhurt, she was immensely relieved.
"Tal, Mithers, I'm so glad you're not harmed!" she said as she hugged them both in turn.
Stepping back to hear Mithrandir's tale, her face grew grim. The haggard faces of the pair were plain enough to read: loss, sorrow, hurt, and fear.
Aerin's hands involuntarily clenched as she thought of the loss of the beautiful, reclusive forests of Ithilien, now overrun with the swarming, uncouth hordes of the East. Their vile feet would be trampling the green grasses; wicked blades gouging deep gashes in the trees, spilling their sap, their life onto the ground.
How many years would it take before the accursed blackness would lift and let the land once again breathe freely? How much time would pass before the unholy marks would be erased from the gently rolling hills?
Oh, how loathesome and repulsive the Mornclaurian forces now were; killing anyone and anything in their path; no respect for life or beauty. Aerin sighed bitterly; this war was impacting all aspects of life in Middle Earth.
Aerin stood and addressed Ciryaher, "Shall we strengthen our forces along the borders of Gondor? If the Mornclaur Federation's troops were able to cut through Talierin's troops like a hot knife through butter, then we should look to our own borders and troops now. What say you?"
Talierin
08-26-2002, 05:38 AM
Talierin stood, and the weight of the world seemed to be on her shoulders and in her eyes, "My Lord Ciryaher, I first must thank you for allowing us to land on your shores, but I also must ask if there is some land of yours we might occupy. We would be more than willing to fight under your banner.
"And as for our troops, we started off with 1500 Ithilieners, combined with 9500 Gondorian reinforcements. We snuck through North Ithilien to come out NE of Cair Andros. Then through magic, we surprised them, and attacked. Queen Elbereth and Governer Altaira/Narya (?) then came up from the S and SW with their two forces totalling 53000 and joined us. But even though we outnumbered them, it was slaughter. When it was heard that the enemy had come over Cirith Ungol and into my city, Minas Ithil, we decided to retreat. They have since burned Ithilien, and Pelargir is taken as well. Out of 11000 men, I have returned with 3600. The extra 500 are Gondorian citizens who wished to come with us, and men of the Gondorian Navy, of which we came in 40 light warships. The ships can be added to Arnor's fleet, if you wish.
But hear this, the enemy is cunning, and his hordes are powerful. This war will not be won easily. We must make a stand somewhere. Gondor is falling, Rohan will not last long I don't think, so it is up to Arnor to be strong. I place my faith in you, Lord, and your people. Do not let Middle-earth fall to the enemy. I... I could not bear it..."
Talierin sat down, tears coming to her eyes, and buried her face in her husband's shoulder, weeping, all the pent-up pain and sadness and agony of the last two weeks welling up to the breaking point. She had lost most of what she held dear in the short time, her land, her home, friends, her people, and all her grief came flooding out in that moment.

Ciryaher considered the words of his friends. "Yes," he said, "We must halt the enemy...But we must do it at the location of our choosing. To reach out and smite the enemy would be most valiant, however, it would be to our folly, for the enemy is strong in numbers beyond count...still."
He began to wander around the senate chambers as he spoke, "Hold them we must...My current strategy will reap the greatest benefit. Talierin, you shall govern the province of Eregion/Imladris. You may join the armies of Aerin of Rhudaur with your forces and hold the city of Antothore with no less than 30,000 troops. You ships will be added to the Navy of Arnor, which is but a distant second to that of Ar Pharazon, yet is mighty nonetheless."
"With the remaining to armies of Arnor, I shall defend the most populated areas of Arnor: Annuminas, Fornost Erain, and Easu," he paused and looked at all present with a sad expression, "This is the last stand of civilization...What we do now shall ensure the future of Mankind until the End...Let us make it a bright future."

"My lord, I believe all of us here are ready to give our lives and more for the cause of Arnor.
I must know, in my absence...has...has...has Cardolan survived my lord. I have received no word, and I long to hear some news. If not than I ask to accompany my wife to Eregion/Imladris.
Also I have something that I wish to speak to you in private about, when my lord finds the time. It is of great importance, and somehing I think may be of great value to this last stand...."

Lord Ciryaher, the Forolochian exiles stand ready.
Ciryaher
08-26-2002, 11:08 PM
Ciryaher shook his head slightly to Mithrandir, "Nay, Cardolan stands behind the bastions of Arthedain and Rhudaur. Your land remains...in fact, you will soon be having a great many guests in Tharbad. Keep those who are unarmed safe, and the armed forces will assist in defending Arnor's southern border."
He then turned to Spencer, "Very good. You and the forces of Forolosse will be under the command of Aerin, even after I return."
Himling.

Arathin was silent as everyone around her spoke, when Lord Cir left she followed. ~I might as well go home. Nothing yet.~ she thought. She reached her home just as Cir and Kem set sail to Himling. She wondered why everyone passed through her lands without even asking her consent or at least giving her the courtesy of a message stating that they had passed through. She hated learning about it through her Dunedain spy network, that kept the peace.

While in Rhudar Spencer sat in his makeshift compound. The Forolochians in exile are a hardy people and already they have adapted to their surroundings well. Looking about him he marveled at how quickly they had buit an adaquate village. A wooden wall was set about them and a constant watch was set upon the towers with his best archers detecting the slightest movements in the distance. He and his people greatly relish the day when they can cast their enemies down and bring justice to the land of Forolosse.
*occ- you guys can call me Gandlin from now on. Thats just a name I came up with rather than Spencer.

Ciryaher drummed his fingers for a bit, and looked around at the other senators. "Gondor is in need of help. What shall we do?"
Aerin

"The East has seemed to have halted their attack upon us; the time to fortify our defenses is now. Wherever we choose to send troops, we need to do it soon, lest the enemy re-group and renew their fight.
Arnor is a friend of Gondor's, and I think we need to aid them. I say we help Gondor to help itself; send a small number of troops to aid them in building their defenses, so they will be able to help fight when the time comes.
What think you, Senators?"
Say I, who has journeyed far from the woods of Lorien : Give the men of Gondor aid, for they are the future of Middle Earth and all its creatures. As all know the elves time has passed and the time of men is nigh in coming. The Grey Havens await for the Fair Folk but I choose not the way of my people I choose to stay and aid those in Middle Earth that need aid. For I am of a higher being than Men but look not on them with disdain. Long have I studied their ways and found many faults yet found in all cases they have overcome. Such is not true with even the Elves. Send many soldiers if you can spare them for it is now that we must aid Men the most.

Ciryaher looked at the newcomer with a displeased air. "In this hall of Edain, it is not permitted that any person speak until they are given permission, whether they be Man, Hobbit, Dwarf...or Elf."
Turning to the Senate, "I do not know how we can send ai....wait," he looked at the message King Eomer had sent him. "I think that the Rohirric forces at my command might be able to do the job."

A man rode along the deserted highway. He had traveled long, and had two goals in his mind's eye, which was stronger, many say, than most other men in his days. He came at last to the Arnorian Military. The road was blocked, and he was told to head back to where he had come from. He chuckled. The rather martial looking man below him asked him what seemed to be so funny about an impending Mornclaurian invasion. The man on the horse reached into his robes, and let a small, silver medal dangle in the pouring rain. The man held a lantern aloft to look at it. It was a medalion of a grey circle, surrounded by seven different colours. The man stiffened, and gave a quick appolegy, that was muffled by the rain, and the hooves of a returning patrol. The man on the horse nodded his head, and noticed, for the first time in months, that he had aquired a rather long beard. He laughed to himself, deciding that he would have to rid himself of it before making his first public appearance. He rode on...
The next day the old-looking man awoke in the strange bed of the Inn. He moaned. He had not slept on anything except stone floor and dirt in the past few months, and the soft, old, mattress seemed to have wreaked havoc on his back. He went and dressed himself in his plain grey robes, a symbol of his now abysmal power. He picked a sword off of the table, and fastened it to his waist. He left the Inn and headed for the main buildings of Annuminas, the capitol of the Arnorian Empire.
He, sighingly, flashed his medal at a few more guard posts. He had wanted to come completely unaware of anyone, although he knew that the men would not report the roamings of an old man with the medal of the white council, for any man with such a badge was given nearly unrestricted access, especially in times of war. The man walked down the hallways, until he came to the guests sleeping chambers. He closed his eyes, and found that quiet peace within.... 'second on the right from the third hallway.' It echoed in the room, for an echo it was- spoken many days ago by one of the servants of the Emporer. He went down to the room, and noticed with distaste that the door was locked. he pulled a piece of iron out of his pocket, and slipped it into the lock. The Iron grew red, and even melted on the opposite end. He twisted it, and the lock clicked, nealry silent, but still echoing down the deserted stone hallway. The figure of the man slipped into the room. He walked over to the bed, where a lady slept...
Arathin awoke with a jolt, when the hands of the man touched her shoulders. Quick as a fox, she grabbed a knife off of the bedside table and held it to the mans throat. His smile did not fade though. He reached his hands up to his dirty, hairy, tired face, and when he brought them down, she knew the face that looked into hers. Her husband embraced her.
Arathin

Arathin threw her arms around Elessar's neck and weeped. "You've done and returned from the dead to me." Elessar nodded and she held him long. Finally, she turned her face to his and gazed into his eyes. "What is it, my dear husband, that you have been doing up in that tower for so many months? Do you know of what is going on in the world? I now govern Mithlond and Himling for Lord Ciryaher."
¤-Elessar-¤
09-18-2002, 02:52 AM
Elessar sat on the edge of her bed, and rubbed one of her hands in his own. "My silence has been my shelter. My mind has been my prison. For months I have emmersed myself in complete and utter thought. I feel as though I have been reborn, with a new sense of purpose. My fire is renewed, and, by Eru, I hope I am not too late. I must be off, to find the other Lords of the West. I will see you soon, again... and I am sorry that we have not had more time together." Elessar stood, and rubbed his hands over his face. The beard had re-appeared, and his face was dirty again. He wrapped his grey cloak about his plain robes, and strode to the door. He opened it, and silently left.
He made his way down the corridor, but hid behind a beam of stone against the wall. He had not wished to be hassled by any more guards, and they would only be the more stern the further he worked his way back... He thought for a second, before he walked down to an open window, at the end of the hallway. He closed his grey-green eyes, concentrating on the burning fire of life within. And when he opened them again they were smaller, and sharper. He cocked his head up, and beat his wings, and a grey dove flew about the walls of the great fortress of Annuminas...
He landed on the windowsill of the throneroom of the Emporer, who sat, lost in thought, upon his high throne- the Throne of Elendil and the throne of Aragorn, and the throne of many a great men before him. The dove flew silently into the chambers, and landed in a shadow. Slowly the shadow of the dove overtook that of the throne, and a tall, grey, man whispered in a tone like a serphant of death, breaking the thought of the aging lord of Arnor, "Lord Pengriston, I see you have kept that-which-is-rightly-mine from falling too far under the shadow of the Dark Lord." He stood quiet for a second. "But come, it is not the time for such words. I have come, disturbing the peace of your thought, so that you may know that I have arrived at last. And I wish to know how we fare..."
Ciryaher
09-18-2002, 06:42 AM
Penngristion looked up from his thought and cast a glance at the man and stood. "Come," he said flatly and exited the ancient throne-room of the Northern Kingdom.
As he casually walked towards what was obviously the Capitol, he mused, "I do not use that throne, except as a place of solitary contemplation." He looked at his companion, "I govern with a Senate, and you should be wise enough to see that."
His gaze returned to the Capitol and he continued. After a brief silence, he spoke again, "If I knew what the enemy was doing, I could tell you how we fare. The advance from the north has apparently ceased, and my men have engaged the enemy only once. Once!...where is the enemy, Elessar? Will your wisdom reveal that to me?"
With a smile and a slight bow, he acknowledged the guards at the Capitol doors and they stepped aside with salutes. Ciryaher stepped into a small room near the entrance and pulled on a rope, which sounded a large bell that was the signal for the Senate to convene for the day.
Mithrandir
09-18-2002, 07:02 AM
Mithrandir looked at the new comer and smiled. Silently and only heard in the voice of Elessar was the voice of the wizard"Welcome my dear friend. I have long awaited your arrival, and am glad you have finally found your path."
He waited to see what the bell would do....
Mormegil
09-18-2002, 12:32 PM
Mormegil had ridden fast, from Ered Nimrais, and now had arrived at the capitol. The guards waved the Red wizard through, and he entered the Senate.
Bowing towards the Emporer and Mithrandir he made appologies for his lateness. He then took a seat and waited for the senate to convene.
Arathin
09-19-2002, 02:07 AM
Arathin hearing the bell, hurried to the senate meeting. Knowing almost for certain why it had been called. Entering she seated herself in her chair, and her gaze roved over the room. Becoming fixed on her dear husband standing beside her lord ciryaher, Arathing knew she had been correct in why the meeting was called.
Ciryaher
09-19-2002, 02:30 AM
A messenger whispered in Ciryaher's ear as the senate congregated. He nodded and rose from his small chair and went to his podium. "My Senators, and my companions in the White Council, the Dark Lord has restarted his movements in the North, and we are moving to deflect this. I now open the Floor to all speakers."
I have told my people of my coming and they wish to help, what is left of those not yet departed from the Grey Havens anyway. Might we form a second alliance of Men and Elves? And might the dwarves give aid as well, if only in great times for the remnant of the Fair Folk in Lorien do not trust the dwarves, but trust in men. I will bring aid if and when it is needed, unlooked for but sent in the darkest hour.
Aerin
09-19-2002, 08:57 PM
Aerin looked impassively at the newcomer, "And what position in the Senate of Arnor do you hold? I have not heard your name before; why do you suddenly come before us?"
Turning to the Senate, she spoke, "If the Dark Lord has indeed renewed his attack, then I say we should strike back. If we dally as we have, then we stand a very slim chance of winning. We cannot delay.
We cannot let the enemy's legions approach our cities, our towns, our people. We need to defend our country; and the best defence is a good offence.
I propose that we not only attack, but prepare for the attacks. I have spoken to Ciryaher of some devices we might employ to aid our fighting," as she spoke, a wry smile crossed her face.

"Well, I cannot say that I did not suspect that the Lord of Mornclaur would not himself take up the command of the northern troops, in the absense of his slave-general," Elessar said in a mild monotone; his mind was lost in thought, and his eyes were not focused. Suddenly, though, the light sprang back into them, and he looked to the Lord Ciryaher. "Emporer, I am more than sure that you all here can handle the army to the north. But, as I am sure some of you know, there is a greater army to the south. I offer to go to Rohan, for there I am still held authoritive, and I shall marshal their forces in Eomer's absense. And, from there I shall await your war-plans. I could also gather the folk of Arandor, for I do not beleive they have been summoned, yet, into the army of Gondor. Their numbers would prove very helpful, milord... however, if you do not wish to send me south, I will be of what help I may here... but I must confess that I fear for Valar and Elebreth, and all of our brethren in the south. Minas Tirith hath withstood many a great flood, but those were puddles of rainwater when held against that which now pounds at their floodgates." He stood there, as a moment of silence enveloped the room. A small, white fire smoldered in his eyes, ready to be reborn.

The fire looked as though it would spark anew, but Elessar quickly subdued it again. "Yes, Emporer. It shall be as you wish." Elessar turned and walked from the halls, sending a sad smile tward Arathin before he exited the room.
He made his way down to the stables. He looked to Bill, his old horse. He sighed... Bill could not make such a fast-paced journey to Rohan, not in the condition he was in now... He looked about, and found a steed of Rohan-looking decent. He threw his grey cloak around his shoulders, and mounted the horse. He shot off for the river crossing at Tharbad, though the forces of Mornclaur were already on his heels.

Ciryaher read through a message that was handed to him and smiled. Standing, he spoke, "My friends, the might of Mankind grows yet still; the kingdom of Rohan is hereby united with the Republic of Atannórė!"
At once, there was a roar of voices as senators and representatives stood and praised Eru and the Valar.

As the news of Rohan's union with Atannore was received in Arnor, Mithrandir and Talierin were writing out the proclaimation for all civilians to evacuate Rohan and make their way into Arnor, where they were to stay for the war. Messengers were sent out across the plains to every town, house, and village, and that very day a stream of people and their animals and carts, laden with their belongings, began to make their way along the plains to the Gap of Rohan and into Arnor. What little army that was left to the king and queen rode along with them for protection, and when all were seen safely into Arnor, rode back to Edoras, where they were to wait for Elessar and his troops to arrive...

Instinctively reaching out to catch the Sceptre, Aerin stood quietly for a moment, looking at it. The weight of it in her hands seemed like the weight of responsibility that had suddenly been laid on her shoulders.
Turning back to the astonished Senate, she said quietly, "I assume command of Arnor until such time as the Emperor returns."

10-03-2002, 02:11 AM
Elessar rode along, with the enerage of well over 10,000 fully armed calvary. He had received a messenger, just before he and his men had crossed the borders of Gondor, that their course would be diverted. They had ridden on for days, until, even the strong horses of Rohan began to show signs of fatigue. But, at last, they came over the final rolling hill. And Edoras was laid out before them. Elessar brought to his lips a great horn. He had used it often, whenever he had served as a Marshall of Rohan. And once again the soft notes trickled down to the city below. They were answered in like kind, and Elessar signaled for the army to, once again, begin to move. The horses were taken away, to their acres and acres of grazing land. And the men went to the barracs, that had stood empty in their absense.
As he walked, Elessar noticed that there was not a soul in the city, save for a few drunken soldiers, and the occasional watch patrol. Even the fortress was near deserted. He enountered maybe five or six men before coming to the chambers of the lord of Rohan. He walked to Mithrandir, who stood. With their arms clasped, they had their first real greeting in a long while. He went before the lady Talierin, and bowed to a knee before her. He stood, and there were several seconds of silence. Elessar looked around, rather uneasily. "It has been long since thine halls have graced my eyes with their beauty. But ne'er have they been so lifeless... Then, milord, you have done as I advised? I am glad for it.
Mithrandir
10-03-2002, 07:15 AM
'Yes elessar, your advice was taken, and we thank you for your words of wisdom. Now come we must prepare for war."
The three went then to a small room, fit just right for the trio, and they began making war plans.

The Emperor drummed his fingers on the arm of his chair. There were now seats on either side of him, but they, and the rest of the Capitol, were empty of senators. He stopped his drumming and sighed as he rose to his feet. Looking up at the domed ceiling, high above, he lifted his hand and created a soft glow. The carvings, paintings, and statues were illuminated with a soft, daylike glow...and then the glow vanished.
He lowered his hand and stared upward for some time, in the dark. There was the sound of soft footsteps behind, and he turned, smiling. Kementari was standing there, holding a candle; the light dancing across her face. Her voice was soft when she spoke, "What is it that you are worried over, Penngristion?"
Looking at her lovingly, he sighed and sat down again. "I do not know...it's just..." he trailed off at a loss of words.
"What is it?" the Emperess asked, coming to sit beside the Emperor.
He sighed and looked over at her, this time his eyes seemed lost. "There is nothing...silence covers the earth, and our armies have dug in, for the enemy has not left. We must call the Dark Lord here and resolve this."
"The Dark Lord will not come, for he will suspect a trap, but perhaps he sees what you see, and will come."
Ciryaher smiled and stood, taking his lady's hand and helping her up. "Well, we will have to try. I will send a messenger in the morn. Let us hence to the palace and take rest...who knows what tidings may come?"

When Ciryaher woke up the next morning he went into the senate. Later that evening at about sunset messenger dressed in the colors of Rohan walked into the senate chamber, bowed before Ciryaher, then handed him a scroll, and walked back out. Ciryaher unrolled the scroll, and read "Rohan is yours now, good luck with it. We might show up later. Mithrandir and Talierin, ex-King and Queen of Rohan, now the roaming vagabonds."
Ciryaher looked out the window and saw a figure of a horse with two figures on it embraced in a loving kiss riding into the sunset. He sighed, "What have those two got into their heads this time....."

Emperor Hyarmendacil drummed his fingers on his chair, his displeasure extremely obvious. "I ally myself with weaklings who run off into the dawn. Very well, then. Rohan is mine, and I will put it to good use."
He looked at the empty seats of the Senate, anger growing inside him. Pounding the rail of the pulpit with a gavel, he shouted, "Scribe!"
A young man in a robe and silk cap came in and stood beside Ciryaher. "Write this down," said the Emperor, "As of the waxing of the New Moon in 4 days, the Senate of Atannore shall be dissolved. The Imperial House shall rule without the hindrance of an idle senate. This shall be in effect until the Imperial House deems that worthy representatives can be found in the Empire's provinces. Signed, His Imperial Majesty, Ciryaher Penngristion Hyarmendacil the Third."

"Now," said the Emperor to the scribe, "Write the following as a separate document: It is the will of the Emperor that those persons currently governing a province continue to do so. The Imperiality will make decisions concerning the Empire as a whole, but the provinces will have greater freedom to organize themselves individually. There will be a House of Lords in which the Governors may be assembled at regular intervals, or in times in which decisions must be made quickly."
He thought for a moment. "Send that to the governors, along with a summons. We need to work out some things before I go on my journey."

"My Lord Ciryaher,
I am truly sorry that me and the Lady Talierin left with no warning the way we did. I can not say much other than it was what was needed at the time. Rohan has been in period of decline and we knew only you could save it. On top of this me and the lady find ourselves upon a quest which is of the upmost importance. It requires secrecy my lord and that is why we could not tell you beforehand. We shall see you again, maybe sometime soon, and remember that the forces of forest and light are still fighting for Arnor. Sincerely,

A figure in long black flowing robes rode to the front of the palace. She dismounted her stallion, Gildor, and strode into the senate chambers. She bowed gracefully to her emperor, her hair was in haphasardly thrown up in a loose bun, and her robes were a bit dirty from the long ride to the senate from her palace in Mithlond. "M'lord Ciryaher. I have received your messages and your summonings. How may I serve you, my lord and my friend?"

11-15-2002, 07:58 AM
Tired and worn torn, Elbereth returns to the Senate upon the emperor's request. It has been a great time since she has seen the Senate of Arnor and she is forlorn to find the grand building to be weathered from neglect.
Upon entering the Senate, she is greeted by Arathin and Kit.
"It is indeed good to see you old friends. I am please to see that you have survived the war and are in good health. Perhaps we will be able to gather later for dinner where we can catch up. But if you please excuse me, I must greet Emperor Ciryaher, who I believe is expecting my return."
Elbereth then continued down the long corridor of the Senate Halls to where Emperor Ciryaher sat in great meditation.
"Greetings Emperor, I have come as you requested. I regret that I have not been able to come sooner. I will assure you that I have not neglected my lands in Earhwesta. My correspondant, has maintained communications with me over the past few months, and I am happy to report that all is as well as could be expected in that land.
That is much more than I can say for my lands in Gondor. It saddens me to report of the losses we have endured in those lands and yet the war rages on...even in my departure. My people have fought bravely and I have done my best to abate the enemy forces...however, the Mornclaur Federation is a stronger force than I anticipated. However, I am still hopeful for victory, and with the assistance of Rohan and Arnor, I know that hope is not lost yet. And please know dear friend...that my appreciation for your assistance is beyond mere words."
Elbereth then took on an expression of great sadness as she attempted her next speech. Tears welling her eyes...but she fights to keep them from falling.
"Dear friend, I come to you in confidence...for I know not where to turn. As you are aware...King Valar has been missing from the affairs of Gondor for a great while. However, please know that his departure has not been because of neglect. I know deep down if he could, he would rule Gondor with great majesty...and yet he can not. *begins to cry...then wiping the tears away, she continues* The king lies ill, from a mysterious illness, that not even my skill can heal. I fear that Illuvatar shall take him from me before his time. This is the natural course of human life...this mortality...and yet... I can not bear to think of losing him so soon after I have found him. I love him so!"
Not able to speak more...Elbereth falls onto Ciryaher's lap and silently cries away her sorrows.

The Emperor looked down at the Queen, his eyes showing a brief moment of pity, and then hardening. He rose to his feet, pulling her up as he did. Placing one hand firmly on her shoulder he looked at her sternly. "Elbereth, the time for sorrow is passed. The death of the King is an ill tiding, but to break down and weep would be the greatest sign of weakness. The Dark Lord stands undefied, though he himself is weak and does not use what power he could. The Armies of Mornclaur stand idle, for leadership has abandoned them and they do aught but camp upon our borders."
Ciryaher shook her shoulder and pointed a finger at her face, "You will remain strong, and uphold the glory that is Gondor. You will take control, restore order, and rule with the dignity fitting of your title." His eyes flickered with a wrath, and without warning, he left the room.

As he walked away, Elbereth yelled out:
"You underestimate me...'my friend'. I cry now...but I am strong. His death saddens me...and I come to you for comfort...not anger. Perhaps I underestimated your compasion. I will not make that mistake again. You need not worry about my lands, nor my leadership. "
*resolutely, Elbereth stands and leaves the Senate without saying farewell. *
Ciryaher

Ciryaher was already outside the palace and was dashing across a courtyard to his stables. "Barder!" he cried.
A tall, thin man looked out of the window of the stables and smiled brightly. "G'day to ye, m'lord! What cannever oy do for ye's?" the barder questioned cheerily as he stepped out the door, a carrot in his hand.
The Emperor nodded, "Angil and Wilaire, are they ready for a long journey, friend?"
"Yes indeedy, m'lord. Oy've made good and syoor that they are in th'finest health and sp'rits! Come roight this way, sire!" the man said and beckoned to Cir. Inside, the air was filled with the scent of grains and fresh hay, and the skylights above were opened wide, letting the sunlight pour in. They came to two stalls, side by side. "Here th' are, m'lord! All saddl'd up and ready!"
Penngristion smiled and saluted the barder, "I won't ask how you knew, but fate requires all haste! Let us bring them out." They opened the stalls and led out the two mighty horses; one, a gift from Rohan long ago, and another, a gift from Mordor. In the pure sunlight, they stamped their feet and looked overjoyed in the highest degree; the pair knew that adventures were underway.
Having already geared up in his light armour and been girt with a good bow and his axe, he made his way to the storehouse and buttery, where he got a good supply of food and drink. Mounting upon Angil, Ciryaher cantered out of the western city gates and sped down the road towards Fornost Erain.

Kementari bowed and left the senate chambers. She quickly gathered some supplies and made her way to the stables to fetch her horse Mirroch, then she rode off along the road to Fornost to meet up with Ciryaher

Anger still pumped in Elbereth's veins as she continued down the long southern road toward Gondor. As her Rohan steed trotted along the sandy road, her mind kept returning to the confrontation that she had with Ciryaher earlier that afternoon. And the more she thought about it, the more angry and disappointed she became.
Then averting her thoughts from that painful encountrer...her mind then returned to another painful momment...The last hours with her husband as he lay on his deathbed.
The look in his eyes, a blending of unfaultering love coupled with anxiety and pain. However, Valar managed a weak smile. Then without moving his lips he whispered: "My queen...you have made me...proud. You were my savior from my lonely life. Now be a savior to our people." With tears running down her eyes, Elbereth said..."Yes, my love I shall not let you down." Anxiety left his face at this...and he continued to stare into his wife's eyes.
She knew he had much more to tell to her, but he was too weak to express all that he had to say. Instead he squeezed her hand and simply said: "My love, live on for me...and never forget..." he then pressed her hand to his lips.
"I shall never forget you my love..." Elbereth responded, kissing his damp forhead. Valar then sighed and softly said good bye.
As she recalled these momments...a single tear ran down her cheek...but then remembering once again what Ciryaher had said to her...she stiffened her spine...and fought back her tears and sorrow.
"I shall remain strong! How dare he doubt me! He thinks I lack 'dignity' because I mourn my husband... Indeed, it is he who lacked compasion! But I shall not let down Valar. As Eru is my witness, Gondor will be brought back to it's former glory!" Elbereth said to herself as she trotted down the lonely road. Then with renewed spirit, Elbereth took a solid grip on her reigns and set her horse to a gallop.
Ciryaher

Some days later, both Kementari and Ciryaher were riding side by side at a trot. The misty airs clung to their outer raiments, but having been sure to array themselves in warm clothes, they did not fear the chill in the air. All was twilight, and nothing could be seen through the fog but the ground directly below, trimmed low--like a cut lawn.
From the mist came the sound of softly stepping hooves, and the heavy breath of a warhorse. There was a low whistle and a click from its direction.
The Emperor smiled at the Emperess under his masking scarf and whistled twice. As the shadow became the figure of a rider upon a great horse, he called out, "Hail, Maeronion! How do you fare?"
Maeronion lifted his hand in greeting and answered, "Greetings, Lord and Lady of the North. As was bidden, all is prepared and made ready. I will lead you to your pavilion, so that you may take food, drink, and rest; as pleases you. How was your journey?"
They turned in the mist and followed the man. The Emperess answered, "We had a wonderful time; summer is just starting to pass in the North. Alas that the times will darken once more."

A young hobbit in search of Lord Jahrdur makes his way to The Senate of Attanore. He soon found it and went inside the great place. Inside he saw but one man. The hobbit asked the man "Hello there sir, I have a letter for a Lord Jahrdur. Would you be him?" "Yes." the Jahrdur answered curiosly. The hobbit handed him the letter. Jahadur unravled the letter and enclosed was this:
Dear Lord Jahrdur,
I speak for The Rangers saying we have warriors of 200 strong and 200-300 more that will be a little later then we hoped. We are awaiting your call for us to come to battle and will be waiting at Weathertop for your answer. Keep this hobbit until you need him to send back a letter. His name is Tim and he can be quite helpful.
Signed,
Captain Ranger Nain Ironfoot II

*A knocking is sounded on the door, and before it is answered, it opens. There stands Aredhel, no longer what she once was*
"I bid you good day, Emperor," she says formally," And yes, I have returned, by the will of Eru."
"I realize I no longer have my status as Senator, or the Ladyship of Rivendell, my Lord. I am not a ghost, but perhaps I am, a ghost of my former self."
"If you have time, my Lord, please listen."
"I may have the appearance of an Elf, but I no longer have the immortality. Yes, I chose to return to Middle-earth. Eru granted me permission to, but he gave also the gift of Men, but not until I have done all that I could"

The dais upon which were three chairs was in the shadows, for the morning light poured across the room, but missed the seats of the now-gone triumvirate.
From the shadows, a dark figure rose, but his voice was rolling and good-natured. "I am sorry, Mistress Aredhel, but the Emperor is away, defending Rohan from the Mornclaurian scum," the figure stepped forward and into the light, revealing a powerfully built man from the deep south. He was dressed in regal armour, but not excessively. "I, as you may remember, am Jahrdur. I command the First Arnorian Army, and Lord Ciryaher has left me to look over the capitol while he is away. Your help here would be greatly appreciated, and I am most glad to see your return."
He stepped off of the dais and approached, bowing.

There, in what was perceived the center of the western world, stood Annuminas. The greatest city of the empire of the west, it was. In that city there were great temples and palaces, and among them was a temple. The temple was a massive building, and was only a decade old. It was built after times of war, as a sign of peace and a sign of friendship. Indeed, that friendship had seemed to have failed, and the peace was gone. This temple stood on the western border of Annuminas, and was placed so that one could see the sun set over the sea, through a small gap in the Blue Mountains. Dedicated to Illutivar, and those who dedicated themselves to serving he and his children, and those children's music. But now, it was mostly empty. There were a few people who would come to it to pray to the creater of all things, but for the most part, religious ceremony was kept within the safety of the inner city.
Today was different though. One of the two surviving members of that ancient organization returned. Elessar Telcontar II came. And this place he declared a home for himself, and a place for his students to learn. He hired refugees off of the streets, and they became his servants. And the temple was once again operational.
