Hello! Come one, come all, to the Guild of Thespians!!! This is where actors and actresses and all who love drama will congregate to talk about acting! Please ask to join!
We can discuss the roles we have played in the past and our future ambitions! I will begin...
In our drama department at school, I have starred as Shelby in Steel Magnolias and as Martha in Arsenic and Old Lace. I have been in many musicals, but never played a significant part as I cannot carry a tune in a bucket. I hope to be an actress for a living. I absolutely adore the attention and compliments following a production, but the acting, of course, is always the best!

Hello there!
A guild of actors, what a great idea, luvvies! May I join you, I've been acting since I was 5 and I'm doing a theatre, film and television studies degree. Which is a lot of fun. I'm hoping to either write, direct or be a cinematographer in film, but I still love acting!

Cool idea, crazy person! I thought about getting into cinematography or stage managing type things. Behind the scenes is fun. I won't count my achingly talented portrayals of shepherds and wise guys for Christmas things at churches.

yes, you may all join. i think we have all been something in a christmas play- i was gabriel or a sheep most of the time... anyway. I love watching all the behind-the-scenes stuff on DVDs. it makes me so jealous though... I wanna be a part of it all so bad. i don't know if i could do all the behind the scenes stuff and not be on camera or on stage... i adore attention... lol

Sure, that makes all kinds of sense to me, but I'd rather be standing in front of a crowd with my own words instead of being taped by a camera with words that someone else made up. *hides*

::shrugs:: i like being in front of people no matter whose words they are, i did start writing a play tho... I'll never finish it, i never finish stuff like that...

Ack! Well, now that you've said anything about it, you have to explain even more so I can find out if I would be interested in it at all.

Hey, can I join? I love to act, one of my many many many interests. I've played the Lift Man in Leave it to Psmith, Boris Kolenkhov in You Can't Take It With You, and the Miller in The Canterbury Tales. While I don't especially want to be an actor in the career sense, I hope to always take part in some form of drama.

its about a single mom with a little girl named rachael... rachael dies and the mom is devestated. thats about as deep as the plot is right now...

Hmm might I join? I can't say that I've been acting since I was 5... no more around since 13 so really almost 4 years. I don't do chruch plays... too cheesy and a little oh how to put it.. almost degrading. I mean cheesy is ok.. but really you have to dumb up church stuff soo much. I've only been in one musical and I was just an extra orphan in Annie.... : P but it was ok. I've done many plays... about 2 per year untill this last. I absolutely love acting and I'm oposite of Yaygollum... I prefere someone elses words.. for you see if they hate me.. it will only be my character that I portray not me myself.

sorry about that. Maybe I'm just too achingly proud of myself. Anyways, I am afraid of that play. Sounds depressing. Sure, some plays can be depressing and achingly cool, but comedy is better. *hides*

sure yall can join! it is kinda depressing, but i like those... comedies are fun to do! i just bought a book about using body language in drama. yippeee!!!! my favorite play is probably, um, Steel Magnolias. My fav musical is the sound of music. "the hills aaaaaaarrrrrrreeeeeeee allllllliiiiiiiiiivvvvvvvveeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!" i wanna go see the houston broadway this summer. i'd like to see the REAL broadway in NYC but thats out of the question ::mutters about money::

My favorite play is As You Like It by Shakespeare. My favorite musical is...well, I'm not sure if this is a musical, but I'll put it up here anyway: The Phantom of the Opera. Huzzah! The high school play next year is going to be Love's Labor's Lost! For once, I probably WON'T have to play a guy(we're short on guys, so some of the girls usually end up playing guy characters. I specialize in the loud, boorish type). I'm sick of playing a "type" guy character. I'll probably end up groveling in front of the director(who is very good at casting) pleading "I don't even mind the dresses, just let me play a girl for once!"

Great idea for a guild!! I would love to join if no one objects.
I used to act when I was in Jr. High and was in Drama in High School as well...I didn't have an opportunity to do drama in college...I was way too busy. But after college, I did audition at the American Academy of Dramatic arts in NYC and got accepted....I just never attended the classes...because I didn't have all of the $550 entrance fee at the time...being newly graduated and poor at the time.
However, I do have a great love of the dramatic arts. My favorite playwrights include, Noel Coward, Samuel Becket, Tennesee Williams, Shakespeareand Arthur Miller.
One of my favorite plays is a comedy by Noel Coward called 'Blithe Spirit'...it is about a man who is haunted by his deceased wife after his second wife invites a bohemian woman to come into their house and contact her spirit. It is a very funny, witty play...with plenty of dry humor and lots of class... I definately recommend it!
As for Broadway plays...I've seen Chicago & Mamma Mia (I really should go to more)...off broadway: Stomp, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and a series of Tennessee Williams short plays (A friend of mine was acting in it...and it was really very well done!) and one play I forget the name but the entire thing was in spanish

Hey, Elbereth! Sure you can join! I want to go to NY and see a broadway production sooo bad! There's especially one i want to go see opening October 16th called a Boy From Oz. It's at the Imperial Theatre, not broadway, but it's got Hugh Jackman singing and dancing!!! You should go see it and tell me if it's good. ;) :D Anyway, I'm still not sure if i want to persue a stage or screen career...

Whichever one gets you the most money, I would think. Anyways, the stage thing sounds more fun to me. You get to be in front of the fans, not just the cameras and things. Ick.

Well, if you love drama as an art form...you should go into theatre, since acting in films really takes you away from that. In threatre you can really get involved in that drama...while in film...you really only work on your one role...and never really see the rest of the story until it is release on the screen.

yeah, stage acting would be alot more challenging I think, but I'm really into the whole film thing. I mite take camera courses or sumthing on the sides, just as a backup job...

Well, you know, crazy lady. Aren't people always saying that you should go with what you like? Have fun with film, then. Why ask what other people think if you already know what you want? Crazy.

it has to do with drama, and it's another name for an actor or actress
