Guild's Birthday

On August 30-th Our Guild will celebrate its very first birthday!!!!

There is still time for all of us to think of a nice "birthday present" for the Guild's First Anniversary!!! :D

We should think about what we can give to the Guild. So my suggestion is why don't each member 'compose' a kind of confession about what the Guild means to her/him. Think of a poem or a story or make up one.
It would be a present for millions.

I think that The Creative Endeavours Hall should work hard in terms of the artistic merit of our celebration. It's high time we writers, poets and painters summoned again. (O, I'm so modest!).
I've said this before, but can't we make some sort of edition or whatever it may be, called The Best of the Guild of Tolkienology-Year 1? It maybe some exclusive thread that includes a host of excellent items creted by members--debate arguments,essays,short stories,poems,images,our coat of arms,discussions, lectures etc. etc. And, fo course, a few words from the members as it has been already suggested, something like speeches, I guess.:)
I'm out of ideas right now, but I'll think over it again. I hope the others get involved too.

I'd wish to hope that the members of the Guild are thinking about the coming event...

Did I mention that I suggest August 31-st to become the date of the official opening of the active season for the Guild?
If I did not... now I do! :D

I would like to invite every member to think about some new suggestions about the activities here, to share her/his opinions on what s/he would like to see actively working and what s/he will do about it... Things like that, you know...

I have started to prepare a list of such suggestions ...kind of a "programme of activities" for the active season and I think that if every one of us comes up with such a list the coming active season of the Guild will be veeeeeeeeeeery interesting! :D

I also would like to think that the members are thinking about how to cellebrate the BIRTHDAY itself! ... Are you? ;)

Why then not share it here?.... Oh! I see!...You want it to be a secret....

Now...don't make me look and sound like a fool by saying the above! I think that most of us care well enough about the Guild and its wellbeing and that it depends on us ONLY to make the "birthday feast" a merry event!

I have a suggestion.
What about making an absolute profile of the members of the Guild of Tolkienology?
If you agree I may gain information about every person from this community and also have an interview with evryone of you. Then I will process the materials and draw them up so that they would be decent and ready to be posted.
We then may open a thread and post there this complete profile which will contain much factological and personal information for everyone of course not too personal,just the interviews.
Thus every new member will more easily adjust and we'll get to know better too.

If you agree,we may start making up the questions.

It seems to me that the Hall of Creative Endeavors should have some sub-areas, different places to enter poems, Tolkien essays, creative essays, stories, and the like. We could give them creative names, also.

I am quite busy preparing my birthday gifts for the Guild, and preparing for my Quest, which I must leave to begin on the 31st, so, I won't be here for the party, but if someone would set up a Birthday Wishes thread (I don't think I am allowed to), I would be happy to post a birthday greeting, or perhaps, even a poem.

Oh! This is a lovely idea, but technically it will be not possible :(... That's why we shall have to use the Endeavours Hall for all that our fantasy can bring to light :) - poems, stories, ... while the Hall of Essays will host the essays. :)

I was thinking... Who would like to do a short retrospection about the Guild? Meaning... How it all began, quoting the Master's post at establishing the Guild,; then go on of how the guild enlarged; then include some "crucial" moments....etc...

Silence, everybody! I shall announce my next preliminary suggestions.The festivities are appointed for the period Aug 31- Sep 2.

Aug 31st: A thread shall open, devoted to Speeches and Birthday Toasts. Please, prepare yourselves. I'd like to ask our wraith, errr excuse me, our Guld Mistress to take the honour to open it and be our toast master. Ifshe is shy or reluctant, then Melian (Do you know Melian?) shall hold the opening speech.

Another thread, whose name has not been invented yet, shall consist of the hot interviews Findi is working on now. Wehave not decided yet whether she will post the answers or each guild member will do so for him/herself.

Thread #3 is meant to be the Members Contribution Thread. note, it's different from the speeches and toast, 'cause here you will posts essaqys, pictures, images, Lhun's collages, poems....Hello? Are you still there?

Lhun should have the final word on whether we shall have some Collection "Guild's Best- Volume 1"--a thread consisting of our pearls of wisdom...

As for the interviews I will send the rest of them by pms because it is really easier and quicker.What's more, internet connections are quite bad and the 'live' interview in the MSN sometimes fail.
