Hail, Elven People!
I am here to present this new thread that will be of much use in the Guild. Getting to know the Guild is the one place you can come to and tell everything about your real life. No more fantasy, people! We all know that we all like fantasy; but now this is your chance to get rid of it for a while if you will.
The objective of having such thread is to make our relationship easier, since we will get to know a little (or much) more about each one. It is not required to post here, and one post is enough for the purpose of the thread.
Here are some items you may add to your post:
*Complete name, age and birthdate/place.
*The city, [state] and country you live in now.
*Your occupation in life (student, teacher, etc).
*Your parents and sibling(s)'s names (Possibly husband/wife). Also their age, occupation, and what else you want to say.
*Your pet(s)'s name(s) and kind.
*About your house/apartment and your city.
*About your school/job and friends.
*About your hobbies. Here there will probably be books, so tell us which are your favourite and non-favourite, too. Also, tell us about other things you like, for instance films, sports, etc.
*About your computer. Tell us the configuration of your PC, its kind, speed, etc. I think this is a nice thing to share.
*About your love-life, if you feel comfortable doing so. Tell us about your boy/girlfriend, or the guy/girl you've been wanting.
*About how you first got in touch with the works of Tolkien.
*About your possessions and your dreams, too.
**Also, to make things "more complete", you can attach or put a link to a picture of yourselves (or your house, your family...).
I have clearly "oversuggested". But there is much to tell about yourself! Go ahead and let us know who you really are! I will be the firt one.
Hannon le,

Hey! Here I go, fellows.
My name is Cesar Mauricio Ferreira Sonoda Filho. I am 16 and I was born on June the 1st in the city of Londrina, state of Paraná, south of Brazil. I am a high-school student, going to the second semester of the 10th grade next week. I study at one of the best schools of my city (Colégio Universitário).
My parents are Cesar (yea), 45, and Alice, 42. I have one brother, that's one year and a month younger than me, Thales, 15. Mom works as a Chief of Department in a school, and dad is a Commercial Representant. My brother studies at the same school as me, on 9th grade.
I have a dog, pincher kind; she's Pethy, my little black soldier. (She's less than one feet long (about 25 cm) and about half feet tall). I live in a simple but comfortable house near the city centre. There is a swimming poor for the summer. My city is a medium one, with approximately 500 thousand inhabitants. It has malls and McDonald's, and it is important for its great University (UEL).
This is part of my real-life-post. It will be continued very soon.

Thanks Rasec, for posting this thread. :)
Most of you already know me as your Guildmaster and some even before I became that. About time that you get to know a little about the person behind the name.
*My real life name is John and I am a dutchman by birth. I am living together and am 36 yrs of age. I recently emigrated to France and live in Vichy.
*I work for HP (hewlett packard) and have a degree in network and system administration.
*Two cats, one black and white, the other striped (grey and black). Both are from the same nest and both are female.
*I have a 70 square mtr appartment with garage in Vichy, which is one of the oldest cities in France, that was already known in the roman empire for the thermal baths. I live there with my girlfriend, who is french.
*Friends I talk to a lot, but that information stays behind the screen. It is a policy of mine, which works well for me.
Online here, I have made several good friends and hope to make more.
*About my hobbies: I am an avid artist of fantasy art and a great fan of medieval history. My gallery is at the artists guild on these boards.
*My compy.... well, currently I have two of them configured in a network, but one will be my girl's soon, as soon as I reconfigured it. The one I will use is an AMD, 1.1 Ghz, 512 Mb ram, 64 Mb video (soon 128) and a creative labs live player 5.1 card. .... err, and a laptop will arrive soon as well. (PC upgrade is planned to AMD 2Ghz and videocard with 128Mb)
*I met my girlfriend at the company, but already had contact with her by phone from the netherlands, where i also worked for HP. We're now living together since February and all is well.
*My first Tolkien book was The Hobbit, which happened to be on the english class reading list... I just didn't stop reading after that.
*I want to buy a house in the mountains in the next couple of years, marry my GF and live there for a long time. ;)
Ok, that's my turn, next player on the plate! :D
*updated 12/12/03.*

*Daniel (PLEASE call me Dan, can't stress that enough!:p) Lomask, age 14 [for now], May 27, 1989, birthplace: Los Angelos California
*West Hartford, Connecticut, USA
*student
*Mom-Michal, Step dad -Abraham, Younger Older sister-Laurie, Older Older sister-Karen, younger older brother-Omer, Older older brother- UV:D, brother in law - Gadi
The sisters have the brains in the family, the brothers have the athletics and musical talent in the family. Laurie and Omer are students, UV works in an electronics business, Karen is a programmer of some sorts as is Gadi, her husband.
The entire family LOVES Ping Pong
*Chi-chi is my cat
*I don't exactly know what to say about my house except it looked pretty much like out of ancient times before we renevated it. We have a lake down the hill in our backyard.
West Hartford is an average town, not a city, but not a village either.;)
*My school looks like a jail from the outside. Lets leave it at that. My friends like to talk on AIM (even though I like to talk on MSN:mad: ;)) and like to play all sorts of sports and they love computers.
*Ah hobbies...Photoshop, computers, baseball, PING PONG!!!!, bike riding (city bike riding...not mountain), video games, and camping. I'm not so into books but if I read a book, I like it. For some reason, I just don't not like books that I read.:D
My favorite movie has to be the Princess Bride. Such a funny movie, every line there is perfect!
*Umm my computer has a figurine of an evil fantasy castle on top of its monitor. That and it's covered with sticky notes. That's all I know about it. Well that and I load it with games...;)
*Don't presently have a girlfriend...or a wife for that matter!;)
*I was visiting my aunt in San Fransisco and my mom REALLY wanted me to read a book over the summer so we went to the book store and my aunt suggested I read the Hobbit. And here I am.
*I wanna play baseball when I'm older. Yeah yeah, sounds like the traditional American dream but I'm gonna dream it anyways!:D

*Laura Nicole Johnson, 16 (for a little while). I was born July 31, 1986 in Texas County, Missouri (US). Now I live in Barnhart. Yuck.
*I'm a student, and I work at a little place called the Optical Outlet. Great fun.
*My mom is Diane (51 this year). My father is Steve, deceased as of January 17, 1999. I have six sisters--Miriam (27), Sharon (25), Annette (23?), Kristin (21), Heather (19), and Chandra (14). Three brothers-in-law--Gordon (Miriam), Spencer (Sharon), and Scott (Kristin), and four (almost five) nieces--Kimberly and Michaela (M&G), and Elizabeth and Katie (S&S).
*Pets--2 guinea pigs, Bilbo and Doc.
*I love my house. I hate my 'city'. It's a stupid tiny little town. I hate it.
*I hate school. Fortunately, I will be a Senior this year. My friends are great, and I have a lot of them. My three best best friends are Katie, Shannon, and of course Lindsay.
*Hobbies--reading. Besides Tolkien, I also love Tamora Pierce. I'm also working on classics, and have decided that I love Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, and I'm currently working on Wuthering Heights. I also sing, and, of course, I'm an amateur (very amateur) writer. When I'm not on message boards.
*Our computer is a Dell. That's all I know about it. I'm not very computer-literate.
*My love-life--basically non-existent, other than flirting shamelessly with any guys on the message boards. (Great fun!) But, there is this guy named Daniel that I know, he's really cute, we go out sometimes, but there's not a committment. Unfortunately. (And no, it's not the above stated Dan/Ani.)
*I first got in touch with Tolkien in 8th grade when our English teacher made us read The Hobbit as a class. I hated it. I read ahead, and finished it about two weeks before the class did. One of my guy friends loved it, though, so I started reading the LotR trilogy, and loved it. (Thanks to Dan Terry!) I started to go more in depth with it when I heard PJ was coming out with the movies.
*I want to be a Spanish teacher when I grow up. If I grow up. ;) But even more, I want to be a good wife and a mother. That's the most important thing to me.
And now I'll be quiet. :D

Wow, lots of people answering on the thread's first day of existance! Thank you a lot, guys. Spread to the rest of the Guild!
Oh, I forgot to say. For the people that will still post their profiles and for those who have already posted: to make things more complete, you could put a link to a picture of yourselves or attach it. I will put mine soon.
Hannon le,

Here is the second part of my post.
I have two best friends (one male and one female): Jalberti, 16, whom I have known for five years and a half. And Mariana, 15, whom I have known for one year approximately. They're the only ones I can really trust in and tell what I want to tell.
My hobbies are reading, writing, watching films, going out to walk, going to the mall/cinema. I have recently revived my passion for acting, too. I acted on two plays lately, one in Portuguese for school and one in English for the graduation party of my Spanish school (which is obviously an English school, too).
My favourite books so far are the ones I've read by Tolkien (of course) - The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, The Silmarillion, and the Unfinished Tales that I finished today - also, The Alchimist, by Paulo Coelho, Harry Potter series, a lot by Agatha Christie, etc. Right now I have a bunch of books on my shelf to read, including Sofies Verden (original title), by Jostein Gaarder.
I am currently writing a book titled The Great Diamonds of Power. Though I am a poor amateur writer inspired by Tolkien and Rowling. I love lots of kins of films. My favourtie ones (except LotR and Potter) are The Matrix, The Mists of Avalon, Titanic, Cruel Intentions, and the basic teen ones (Scream, American Pie...).
My computer is *bad*. It's an AMD K6 II, 500 MHz, 64 Mb RAM, 20 Gb on HD. Monitor of 15". I hate it, especially the *dial-up* internet connection.
Love-life? I think I have none at all. No girlfriends, no kisses since 8th grade. LoL Well, I don't worry about it now. I'll start being worried next year. :D
I don't possess much. I have my mobile phone, my bank account with Visa Electron, my bed and my clothes. That's all. This computer is not mine, it's the whole family's. My dreams? Well, I look forward to having the fastest and nicest computer ever when I get my own money.
Also, I plan to live out of Brazil when I finish college. I don't know what I want for college yet, but after it, I'll go graduate my M.D. and P.h.D. abroad.
I first got in touch with Tolkien's works *after* I saw PJ's film for The Fellowship of the Ring. Though I had already seen the book before, and had thought "Wow, I'll never be able to read such BIG book". I simply LOVED the story told in the film and bought my own preciousss book.
Well, and to finish this, I'll attach a picture of myself. Hope you like what you'll see.
Hugs and regards,
'Rasec Dawnstar.

*Name - Alex Simanek. I'm 15 right now and I was born November 13th, 1987. I just got my permit 2 months ago.:)
*I live in Shorewood, Minnesota. It's not too bad as far as cities go, there's hardly any cops so you can sneak outside at night if you want. We also have a pretty nice movie theater downtown.:D
*Music right now - MxPx - Teenage Politics.
*I have a brother, Andrew, and a sister, Emily. Andrew is 8 and Emily is 12. My mom's name is Kathy, she's a nurse, and my dad's name is Mark, he's an internet video guys who develops programs for various churches. My sister is reading Lord Of The Rings right now, she may be my first convert.:p
*I first seriously got into Tolkien after The Fellowship of the Ring came out. My friend started reading the books, so I borrowed them after he was done. Since then, I've read The Silmarillion, and gotten a little bit into the HoME series.
*I like to hang out with my friends, play guitar, and play airsoft.
*I don't have a job right now, tomorrow I'm applying at a coffee shop near my house.
*When I grow up, I'm thinking about designing videogames.
*I don't have a girl friend right now, maybe next year will bring one...:(

Hmm, and Eöl, sorry if you had a "trouble" that was not worth it.

Name- Stephen McClennen Byrne. I'm 16 years old and I was born in Hartford, CT on May 11,1987 (2 months premature).
*Tolland, CT, USA
*I'll be a Junior in High School this fall (terrifying, its the time I have to start applying for colleges), and I work at a store called iparty.
*Mother, Kathy (48), Step-father, John (60), younger older brother, Patrick (19 in a few days), Older older brother, Michael (24), older sister, Rebecca (22)
*No pets, except a fish named Obadiah, and I used to have a black lab dog named Pepper.
*My house is pretty big (probably a little above average size), it has 4 bedrooms and 2 and a half bathrooms (I have my own personal bathroom:D), a huge lawn which is a pain to mow every week, and a driveway thats about 25 miles long (exaggerating there), and it takes about 3 hours to shovel in winter. The house is set up on a hill behind a lot of trees so you can't see it in the spring, summer, and fall, but in winter when the trees are bare you can see a little bit of it. My town is very small and boring with a population of 12,000. There is nothing at all to do here except swim (because just about everyone has a pool). The only real economy in the town is a few gas stations, a very small supermarket, a pizza restaurant, Subway restaurant, Dunkin Donuts and a strip club.
*My school is kind of small (at least compared to my old town) with only 1000 students. Almost all of my friends in this town are girls, and in my old town all boys. My best friends are Angelo, who I've known since 6th grade, and Lisa, who I've only known for about 10 months now but she has become like a sister to me.
*Besides reading Tolkien (which I got into at age 11 when my sister borrowed the Hobbit from the library) I like to read the Harry Potter books and I love to write. I love history (mainly the ancient Romans and Chinese), that and English are about my favorite subjects in school. I play the French Horn (a musical instrument) and am the principal player in the section at school. For sports I play tennis, soccer, some baseball, and I bike all the time!! I absolutely love biking!! Road biking and Mountain biking are both great, though I prefer Mountain biking (it has a greater risk of injury and makes it more fun):D. I am also a photographer, I love taking pictures of things (mainly nature), and I go about it in a professional way. I spent way too much on my camera and it is my baby, I will guard it with my life.
*Its a Dell, other than that I am computer illiterate.
*I have a beautiful Girlfriend named Mallary who is so good to me!! This Friday (August 8th) we'll have been together for exactly 6 months! I absolutely adore her!:)
*Like I said before, I first read the Hobbit when my sister borrowed it from the Library. After that I wanted to read some more, but I didn't finally get a copy of FotR until the summer of that year, and I got bored of it pretty fast and stopped reading it (plus I had to return it to the library). But then I got my own copy for Christmas and sped right through the books, since then I've always loved Tolkien's works and I'm working on reading through LotR for the 4th time (I'm about to start book 4).
*My dream is to become a published author (of books of course), and mainly I would like to write historical fiction stories taking place in Ancient Rome. Some of my most prized posessions are my camera, my bike, my LotR and Hobbit books, and my Derek Lowe autographed picture (he's a baseball player).
Well thats about everything, sorry I don't own a scanner so I can't post a picture of myself.
Glorf;)

Ummmm. Why are we doing this? Is this in preparation for TTF Convention that Beorn is planning?
I am 39. Married. Have 2 dogs (had 3 but one passed away on July 2nd). I live in Arizona USA and tend to be a little on the paranoid side. I first read LotR over 20 years ago.

Lasgalen we aren't really doing this for any particular reason other than the what the thread topic is- to get to know each other. And just FYI Beorn's convention is not taking place anymore, not enough people signed up, so he had to cancel it.

My real name is Annabel, and I'm 15 (although I'm going to be 16 on sep 20th YAY!)
I live in London, England (the best place!) and i have a small-ish house near a lovely park!
I have an older brother and an older sister (21 and 19 respectivley) and their both at uni at the moment, except my brother goes to one near home so he's at home. It's really wierd without my sister though, cos she's always been home. :(
We have no pets, because my mum dosen't really like them and my dad is allergic to the fur, but when I'm older I'm going to get a husky and a german shepard. I LOVE big dogs!
I first read Tolkien's The Hobbit and I really enjoyed it, so I tried reading LOTR but I was too young and I didn't really enjoy it fully, so I stopped and then read it again before I saw the films, because I wanted to read them first. Needless to say - I loved them!
Fantasy is baiscally the main genre I read, including Tamora Pierce and David Eddings. I recommend him to everyone here!
I too am boyfriendless, but I kinda like a guy at my music course that I go to on satyrdays.
Oh yeah! I play the cello and recorder and gave up the harpsichord 2 and a half years ago, but i still play every now and then!
That's all I can think of, so yeah!
My name is Korina. I'm 15 years old and I was born on Jan. 27 1988. I was born in Arizona, but we moved to China when I was 5 or 6 and stayed there for a few years. When I turned 8 we moved to Hong Kong and then one year ago we moved to Washington.
At the moment I live in Tacoma, Washington. We have a four bedroom house. My parents are Diana - 35 and Mark-39. I have one little sister, Monique who is 11. Our pets are one parrot (mei mei), 2 frogs, one parakeet (Jade), one cat (Neeko) and one dog (Nila).
I am homeschooled because my family moves alot. I'm just about to start 11th grade. I'm gonna go to college in December of 2004.
I first read The Hobbit in school while we were in Hong Kong. I think I was about ..... 13. After I read that book I had to read the others, then when the movies came out I HAD to watch them.
My hobbies are reading and soccer.
My dream is to buy a ouse in the country and never move again.
I have never had a boyfriend.
Well I can't think of anything else.

* My name is Emily (not allowed to put my last name).
* I'm 16 years old. My birthday is August 13, 1987.
*I live in the United States, in Pennsylvania. I live in a small town outside of Philly and I love it, even though its very country and there's not much to do there.
* My dad and mom are still together. My mom is an elementary school teacher for fourth grade and my dad is a product planner at Mack Trucks. I have two younger sisters, Melissa and Julie. Melissa is 13, almost 14, and Julie is 9.
*I am currently a student at a great private school. Its small but most of the people are really nice and friendly. I'm in the 11th grade.
* I have lots of hobbies. I love to read. Other than Tolkien, I like the Harry Potter books and most of the books by Caroline B. Cooney. Right now, I'm also into the Redwall books and the Alvin Maker books by Orson Scott Card.
Other than reading, I do tae kwon do and I love playing sports with my cousins in my spare time.
* My friends are the greatest. To be quite honest, I'm not the easiest person to get to know. I can be very quiet. I'm also really close to my cousins, who were my best friends when I was little.
*I don't know anything about my computer except its really slow.
*I'm a really big movie fan. I love going to the movies more than anything else. My favorite right now is Pirates of the Caribbean.
*I've never had a boyfriend but I think its because I'm very quiet. But I like this one guy right now so maybe there's hope for me yet.
*When I get older, I want to be an English teacher. I also want to be an author but I'm not that good, so I'll have to work on that.
That's all about me. It's good to be back at the Tolkien Forum!

What a beautiful avatar you have, Celebdraug. I think wolves are so neat.
You and I seem to have a lot in common. I also love fantasy books, hate pink, and The Simpsons is one of my fav programs, too.

The problem is, I believe, that this thread is to get to know members of the Guild. Therefore, it's only logical that you would have to be a member to post in this thread. It's not like we're being discriminatory or anything. *is tired and cranky*
