EDIT: Arathin, I looked through the first couple of pages of this thread and found, that two current Rangers have been here longer than you: Courtney and HLGStrider, so you are not the oldest Ranger here. You also said how Elgee came to be the leader? I think it's fair that Elgee is the leader, seeing that she is the oldest active Ranger.

I've been thinking, and now my brain hurts. I really think that if we DO need a new leader, we really need to get a guild space first. The guild of elves was just stickiified. thats not a good sign. Once we get a guild space, we will be more organized and in control of ourselves. That way our minor (or major) conflicts wont be aired out to everyone in the forum who chances by the general section. it will look better and flow smoother.

My proposal: We can nominate new leader candidates, i guess, but we should keep elgee unopposed until the time should come that we have our own section. then we can revote and so on and so forth.

You guys, I totally agree with Goldie. We need to get SETTLED and more UNIFIED than we are at the moment. Without that, we do not have a hope of getting our own section, or getting back on our feet. We have made tons of progress, thats true, but we are not out of the woods yet. We're still a little rocky. I think we need to keep Elgee as our leader, until we are steady again.

Arathin: Maybe I missed something, because I have no clue what brought this on. If I have disrespected you, I am sorry. But you'll notice, that we have NOT been partying ever since we have been trying to pull ourselves together. I believe we are past that now. And as for our new system, it was created and agreed upon by the active members of that time. We do not know if it will be edited or changed in the future, but right now, our goverment system is run by the whole guild....

...Maybe future disagreements should be done through PM's, or privately somehow...I dunno, 'tis just a thought. All I know is that I dont want to see this Guild fail, and another power change right now just doesnt seem worth it.

I really had no idea in which thread to post this in so I'm posting it twice;):

I have a proposal to the Guild of Rangers from Heren Istarion.

We are both new councils to government council rps so I propose the two become allies. Heren Istarion is a wise council but we have few defenses (right now only 300 soldiers. Over time we will aquire up to but not exceeding 5000 soldier). We would desire the might of the Rangers as allies. In turn we will provide you with counsel when you need it and we will offer our small forces to your aid when you are in battle. My blacksmiths will forge anew your broken swords. My healers will heal you injured combatant. My assassines will eliminate any king you want taken care of;);). Remember: we're both allies to Arnor and enemies of The Mornclaur Federation.

Sorry I've been a little out of it lately, guys. I've barely been able to get anything done on here, in between college and life.

I'm not exactly the most serious Ranger, if you mean serious as in sober. I'm the one with the least combat experience, and I've noticed that Nain has been doing most of the ramrodding around here.

However, I think I can pretty securely say that I am the most popular, and I know I will win any vote of that sort. Kind of unfair, but I've been around awhile.

I do believe we need a guild section, to get rid of this thread, and to have a more active RP role. Weather Top is a step in the right direction.

I'd prefer to think of my leadership as a mediator and final judge in a group of people making decisions for themselves, but I don't think that would be good in a military environment.

Out of 2841 not one has been in a war. Well, HLGStrider, I suggest that you check out a RPG that has a war. Like the Mithril Knights Lighthearted rp, the whole thing is a war, and it was my first one, and I thought that we did great! Maybe just check out one. Or, just imagin yourself in Middle-earth, behave as the elves or men did, here's am example:
Isildur saw the huge army of orc heading towards Minas Tirith, and joined Gondors own army of brave men. The gates of the city opened, and the army of Gondor poured out. The battle had started. Isildur meet the swords and screams. He pulled out his own sword: Calimmacil, slew the orcs around him. He fought as though he were possesed by a crazed spirit, but it was not enough, for the people of Minas Tirith were but a little army compared to the army of Mordor. But hope came: from the west hoves were heard, the battle seemed to stop for a moment, for all saw the the Elves and Rohirrim rushing in towards the battle......
Of course, this was really quick off the top of my head thing, look at a thread or pm someone who is experienced about it.

As for Cir, I agree with Mablung. I'm shure just about everyone else wants you in the war, do you know for a fact that he doesn't want you in the war? Talk or just join!

2 things: Isildur that rp is a lighthearted rp and it isnt a war that we were in. A war happened around the characters but we werent in a war.

And could the rangers wait for Heren Istarion to get to weathertop before you leave? Then I will post a thread for the alliance to post in ONLY when the 2 groups are togethers. BTW--What should we call the alliance? I thought the Alliance of Sudden Wrath might be good.

I like the idea that one of our midst gets kidnapped (I'll volonteer) and we can have a rescue mission. I can occassionally post how I am so down trodden in my little cage or something like that...

Acitivity in the rp:
Now I will be posting this in my guild as well but I want to say this:

The Rangers and Heren Istarion are both in the FIC...they are both in an alliance and are both about to go to war together. With the exception of Nain, and Arathin of the Rangers, and Nenya, Dain, and I of Heren Istarion of the two guilds there is little activity from the others. You can't pop in all of a sudden now since there have been councils and such that you have not attended so I dont know how we would get you guys into the story but you *should* to be active in it.

I really do wish you people would stop asking people to vote for you. It takes away the whole purpose of the guild auction. Instead of people voting for you because they think you deserve the space but rather because you asked them to. I personally think you guys dont need your guild. You have your 2 threads right here and the rest are in rps. I think it might be a waste of the guild space. But if you keep asking every member of TTF to vote for you then guilds that will use much more space will not get any votes.

I have pmed Ancalagon with my problems with the guild auction. I told him sure as heck neither guild has 30 members and NEVER has 60 members voted on their own. It is up to him to do what he will with the guild auction.

And also I told the other guild my problem with the pming of non members to vote-and they agreed widely. They have a new policy that if 2 more people pm others to vote they will withdraw their name from the auction...if they get a chance. Let Ancalagon do what he will and don't pester him with pms and the such.

You're right Anamatar, why did you "pester" him with a pm? I would think that he or another mod would tell. Some of our Rangers have pm mods to vote for us and they have! And didn't I hear that the poll was open to all members?

can I put in my two cents about this? I have been watching the Rangers thread and I can say they have made considerable progress. They have an organized leadership in place (although the leader still has yet to be decided) and they have loyal members to the guild. Anamatar (look I used your real name!), I think you're blowing this way out of proportion:

-Firstly, I don't know WHY you are obsessing over it so much. Your Guild may have an alliance with this Rangers, but this is really a Ranger thing. And Eomond's right. You would be looking at it in an entirely new light if this was YOUR Guild running for space.
-Secondly, I would have thought you would be on our side of things...'twas YOU that suggested the Alliance of Sudden Wrath, after all. We are partners on the battlefield and in Councils of War, so should we not be partners in the matters of the survival of the Rangers. We NEED that Guild space. It is the only thing that will assure, with finality, that this Guild willl survive. Im not saying we'd fall apart with out it, but we most definately wont with the space.

-We ARE working on an RP, too, by the way. Ecthe is just working on some plots, and then we'll decide on one. I think we all are a little more worried about the Guild Space right now, than an RP that's already in the works.-

Ok guys one idea I had for The Rangers when we get our own Guild Space is to have different types of Rangers(i.e. Stealth Rangers, Combat Rangers, etc.). Like how HI has a person who teachs paladins, archers, and other stuff we would have one person whos the best at each would teach others how to be maasters of the art. What do you guys think?

If you do end up teaching arts (which actually isnt current HI but is KIND OF what we will be) I am not sure how good it will be to do stealth arts...Rangers in LOTR were always stealthy.

We used to have a training thread during Wizdom's reign, but it deteriorated. Basically everyone started showing off their archery skill and no one learned anything.

Well for the most part, all people with ranks are the only active ones. Most normal Rangers are on every once and awhile. So I still think we should have Rp Simulations. I also think we should do the classes when/if we get more very active mems.

if you want to make the É for Eomond then do this:

Hold down you Alt key then hit (with the Num Lock on very important!) (use the key pad #s on the right of your keyboard) and hit: 0201 and you should get the É. So, simpler hit: hold Alt and press 0201 there easy!

I was just wondering, most armies have certain colors and emblems they wear. What should the colors and emblems be for The Rangers and Ranger Army?

Eagle shaped broach with a green stone in the middle. That's the obvious mark.

Though the Rangers did use a star in the books, the star of the north, so before I saw what Anamater posted that was basically what I was going to suggest.... but he does have a point...
