What kind of job do you have right now? What do you think is the ultimate Job for an Outcast?

I'm working at a local animal hospital (for 2 and 3 months now!) and at a grocery store ("Jewel-Osco" for all who have that kind of store in their state. Yikes!) All I have to say: animals are driving me crazy on long days. People drive me crazy even more.

Ultimate job for an Outcast? I'd have to say something to do with the computers (lol, it's a stereotype, I guess ;)) or a professor.

And in case there is another thread like this one (I didn't find any) I'm pretty sure our super cool mod Yaygollum will put the two together. :)

Me current job: Well its not exactly a real job, and I hate it. I work for a company called KidEvents, they do inflateable rides and such and partys and events like that, thing is it pays $10/hr, but the trick they play is I only get paid for the hours that the party is for, theres been a few cases where I've had to go to Lake City, which is some 2hours away, plus setup time then party time, i may be gone for 12 hours and only get paid $30, so it sucks. I'll trying to get a job at the Best Buy in town which will be opening soon. Best part is I might get a job that I actually want to do cause I do promotional videos and such for local churches and one of the head people at DayStar Radio have taken an interest in my work, so I might be getting a job working on video stuff for them, which I would like to do VERY much :D.

Hmm, well that last thing is part of my dream type job but if I wasn't doing that I would like to be a Matress Tester or Game Tester or, best of all, a Marine Archeologest Documentary FilmMaker, thats prolly my real dream job, I love shipwrecks and underwater relics.

My job is a bit varied. Mostly for the last few years I have been directing the news and sport bulletins for one of our government TV broadcasters. Some times I do vision switching or floor managing or camera operator or sound recordist. Jack of all trades you might say.
My ideal job would have to be couch tester. I would have to lie on a couch all day watching **** TV and report on my comfort level.

I'm "halloween help" at the largest costume store in town. It's busy busy busy hard hard hard work, but hey, it's fun, and I might even get in shape! Today I hauled boxes, and boxes, and more boxes! woohoo! Also I ran back and forth from the main store to the retail packaged costume annex in the next-door storefront we're borrowing half the day....... my feet are killing me!

No real job at the moment, but I hire myself out to our circle of homeschooling mother friends as an organizer, party planner, assistant, whatever, at $5/hr. Cleaning out pantries and organizing bookshelves and things like that.

My past summer jobs were all clerical work- I can type and file like nobody's business.

Dream job: Booookstoooore....Or if we're really dreaming big, working in publishing. Getting paid to read? Be still, my heart.

And if we're really, really dreaming big, being a novelist/memoirist, traveling all over the world and writing about it.

I've always dreamt too big... OK, so everyone here thinks I'm going to become a politician. Or a lawyer. Or both. But finally I will probably end up studying economics because my mother knows "too much lawyers without work" (I've already ranted about that) Well, at least I won't have to stop writing... Honestly, as a little girl I wanted to be an actress but now I don't think it's a good idea:D. And I'm not so great at acting, either. But anyway, if I manage to go to some British university, they should have a drama club or something... I hope... But first of all I have to convince my parents: they think I should first get graduated in Belgium and then go somewhere else to specialize in european- or political-economics or something. Argh. I can't stay in Belgium for four more years, I'd end up killing myself. And they don't want to understand... Oh sorry, this is not a thread about study but about work... The problem is I haven't work yet, so I wouldn't be able to tell you...

Hmph. No, I didn't see any threads to combine this with. oh well. Let me see here. I have no job. I'm supposed to be looking for one at this evil college, but without a car, there isn't much. Yay for not needing money right now, though. My dream job would have to be ---> Webmaster Of The Tolkien Forum Dot Com. Wait. No. I hate computers. How's about Ruler Of Earth? No, that sounds like too much work, and I remember at least one Outcast saying that they would devote their life to chaos if I got to rule the world. oh well. How's about a literary critic or stage manager? Yes, those sound more realistical.

Both great jobs. Do you do much theatre type things, Yay?

I forgot to add my dream job. That would be either Forensic Scientist (I think it's a fascinating career), or a psychologist (the one I will probably choose.) My current major in undecided since I will have to transfer to a 4 year school, but when I do that I'm planning on majoring in genetics and psychology.

What's a forensic scientist???

My_Precious
09-29-2003, 05:30 PM
It's a person who collects the evidence on the crime scene, takes it laboratory and examines it. There are different kind of forensic scientists--some of them take photos, other (forensic pathologists) perform autopsies (not the one I want to be, lol.), and such.

Some evil college person over here asked if I wanted to be a psychologist right after I got through with a long rant about how Outcasts are superior to everyone else. Ick. Why would I want to be a psychologist? I'd have to pretend to care about other people's problems. oh well.

Let me see here. No, I don't do many theatrical type things. Some Outcast that I know over here said that she'd try to help me out with getting a job at one of the theatrical type places around here, though. I've been a stage hand plenty of times before, a stage manager twice before, and was raised by one.

I don't have a job:( Which is very bad! But please don't forget that I live in a country with very hard economic situation. So the jobs that I could find here are so unbelievably low-paid that it'd be pointless to spent any time on them. Besides it's impossible to find a normal job here without a "back".
Anyway, I'm on my way to my dream job. First I have to enter the AUA and graduate it. Which is my own business.

And I forgot: 2 years ago my dream job was to be a scientist, and suggest a theory that would change the macroeconomics forewer and allow to make transition periods for economies like ours less painfull and distructive.:D

I do dumb off and on around the house kinda jobs for my dad, mostly mowing the lawn and I usually get paid $6 an hour(thats good because our lawn is really big), I really don't know what I want to do for a dream job eccept maybe being a photographer for National Geographic or something because I would get to travel around the world and stuff. I'm the kinda person that has to do what I like to do or else I'll go insane, no sitting behind a desk at some office for me.

Right now I'm working in a research lab at school... I'm getting school credit to do research, and I'm getting paid to take care of the fish, organize the lab, and order supplies. During school breaks I work at an aquarium store, except last summer I worked at the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology (pretty cool change of scenery, I live in Ohio). I plan on having some sort of marine biology career after grad school.

I don't have a "real" job, per say. Fortunately, I have a neighbor whose house I go to every morning from 6:30-8:15 to get a kid ready for school. But hey, it's $10/hour. I hope to work at a mall...

My dream job would be an Intelligence Analyst in the FBI, or possibly something similar in the CIA.

I sort of want to get a job because I need money, but my parents won't let me! Isn't that crazy? Grr. But I do baby-sit a lot, so it's not so bad.

I am currently an underpaid engineer (of the water and foam tanks that go into fire trucks, company promotion time: www.propolyamerica.com ). I usually do most of the work while my boss does most of the stressful running around and pleasing the big boss, works for me because I don't always have a lot of work to do (i.e. today) and get to play games or post on here:D .

My idea of the dream job would be a game tester/designer or an Architect(which is what I am going to school for:) ).

I got a job!! Yaaay! And a good one too! It was very convenient, because a lady I baby-sit for just told me that the people at her office (she works for a marketing company) are looking for someone to do some busy-work that they don't have time to do (stickying brochures, stuffing envelopes, etc.) and she thought of asking me! I, of course, was delighted, because I've been planning on getting a job soon to start saving for a car and such, and this will be really easy. I can work at home and choose the amount of hours I'll be able to put in (it'll probably 3-4 hours a week) and get paid $10 an hour! This is just for during the school year, and when summer comes around I'll probably be able to work at the office in my own cubicle doing computer-work and such. Yay, this is great, the perfect job just fell into my lap!

Yay! Congratulations, Niri! I had a job as a clerk and really enjoyed it...I can't find work here, though. Bah. No one wants to hire me...I do have a job tutoring three kids, though. I like it, but I still don't want to be a teacher.

This is my first real job. :) My parents have previously not allowed me to have a job during the school year and I didn't want one during the summer, but this was just too good an offer to pass up. :) I have an appointment tomorrow after school, and I'm nervous. I'll only be filling out forms, meeting people, and having a tour and such, so I really shouldn't be, but I can't help it. They already have four boxes of work for me to do, haha.

Being nervous is perfectly understandable, I was scared stiff the day I went to work at the cafe.

I now work at a Kountry Kitchen, waiting tables, and it's an interesting experience. I don't work as hard, I get on average better tips, and I don't have to get up early. If it wasn't for the fact that it's the dinner shift, I'd be completely happy; as tis, I'm mostly happy. :)

wow, that's great niri!

sidenote--> I keep getting niri and rhi confused bc of their eowyn avatars that both change and yeah, hah, I was reading niris post about the job, and I thought it was rhis, and then I looked at rhis and thought it was niris, well, until I read "Yay! Congratulations Niri!"

Hehe. When you see an Eowyn avatar, try looking at their name so you know who's post it is.. lol. Anyway, my meeting went well, and I've already done 4 hours of work! Yay!
