Hi there everybody, the Guild of Tolkienology will start a new cycle of Tolkien Lectures in November. Check up this thread (http://www.thetolkienforum.com/showthread.php?postid=364066#post364066) to get more information.

This is open to every member of TTF, and in fact we hope that a lot of non-GoT illustrious minds will give us the pleasure of a lecture :D.

So... I guess no one will ever again blame us for being a "closed society" ;) :D

YOU ALL ARE MOST WELCOME!!! :D

Will these be 'read only' threads? Or do you expect to use the lectures as a foundation for future discussions?

In my own mind we'd discuss the lectures to death :D. They are supposed to be very open-ended.

I'd volunteer, except I have no knowledge. I'm around to be educated ;) I only have one area of expertise, and I tend to rant on it.

Pick a topic (it might even be your favorite one ;) ), study, write, share... Ranting is allowed. Contact me with the topic of your lecture and I'll schedule it, according to that rotation of themes explained in the thread at GoT.

I'll work very hard to come up with something, Eriol, and get back to you :)

Well, since we're actually getting lecturers out there (!) :D, I'll drag this to the top again.

Check that GoT thread, people, and pick a lecture!

The first six lectures are already scheduled -- and we have great lecturers!

:D

The show begins in November, but though we already have 6 Lectures, I want more ;). So I'll repeat the invitation for everybody here. Just contact me, on the thread or by PM, if you want to give a lecture -- and any topic is accepted, the list of topics in the thread at GoT is just a suggestion.

I am currently in the process of writing two threads that are so damn long that they would take 3-4 posts. One is what I call "Ring Sentience Theory", and the other (my magnum opus) is "Free Will- the Farce of Eru?". The latter will take me a very long time to complete, months probably. I'm sure I could attempt to lecture on 'Ring Sentience', but I'd need a little help with some extra references on the Ring from HOME. I could ask for the help of one of the members of GoT. I acknowledge that 'Ring Sentience' might be the most absurd thing you have ever heard, and that it is in the opposite direction of the works of Tolkien, but it is something that I believe in very strongly, and I can certainly guarantee it will 'raise a few eyebrows'. I posted something of the like before I was banned and it became the most frequently posted thread for that period of time. But I was banned some time before the thread ended, but discussion in there still continued.

Great :). Let me know when you can post a finished lecture (through a PM) so that we don't have your lecture "on top" of another.
