The mission statement for this guild reads: Walkers of the World: A place where Men of Middle-Earth meet and recant the glorious days of Numenor, RP in the the golden age of Gondor, and sing of their ancient Kings.Eru has dealt me the role of woman, not man, so if it's ok with the rest of you, I'll set aside a little corner where the Women of Middle-Earth can meet and recant stuff.

Hmm?

Welcome Lhun. :D

Have you also applied to the members thread on the main forum?

Eledhwen, the mission statement refers to Man, as in Mankind, aka humans. <--- emphasis on the multiple.

This encompasses both male and female. :D

This encompasses both male and female. :D No it doesn't - it's plural, so it's being specific. To singularise and still use the word 'Men' it should read 'the race of Men', otherwise it means blokes.

Just because it is 'Men', doesn't mean that it doesn't refer to females. Tolkien used 'Men' to describe the race many times :). By any means, it was suppost to mean the 'race of Men' anyway...:p (hence the capital 'M'). But that doesn't stop this thread from serving a purpose :)
There aren't too many major female characters in Tolkien's works who most people know about, so this could be quite informative for a lot of people.
Aside from the obvious (Eowyn), who else is there?
Haleth, Aerin, Morwen, Nienor Nķniel, Ioreth and even Arwen Evenstar (since she was Half-Elven, and chose the life of Men). Plus plenty more I'm sure...

OK, we'll post; but referring again to the mission statement, the only full story we have of Numenor didn't have a very happy lady in it, and as for Old Gondor (sounds like a tobacco), only Queen Beruthiel comes to mind, and I don't much care for cats, so this thread can be a drawing room for she-Men she-Elves she-Dwarves, Bulgarian Wraiths and riverdaughters (and entwives if we find any) to discuss the sort of things we find interesting. Of course male input is welcome if they too find the topics to their liking.;)

I am intrigued to learn more about this idea :)
What is envisaged to be going on here?

And...BTW, shall I have to first apply for some membership?

Oops, I forgot the three Numenorean Queens (Tar-Ancalimė, Tar-Telperien and Tar-Vanimeldė), as well as Erendis, Tindómiel, Vardilmė, Mairen, Yąvien, Silmarien, Isilmė, Lindissė, Ailinel, Almiel, Ķrildė, Inzilbźth, Lindóriė, Almarien, Vėantur and Nessaniė. :p

And...BTW, shall I have to first apply for some membership? I have not yet joined this guild :o. I am a member of the Guild of Tolkienologists and am not given to joining everything that comes along without a great deal of thought first. If the Guild of Eruhini do not like my thread, I am happy for it to move to the Guild of Tolkienologists.

I just started this thread as a sort of protest because of the very blokey mission statement of this guild. I envisage it as a sort of drawing room ('withdrawing' room) for those who find the discussions in the main guild a bit too much in tone like a post-rugby match drinking session. If moved to the GoT I would need to edit its raisons d'etre.

Aule's post is useful as he has thoughtfully supplied a list. We can discuss the greatness and folly of the female adventures of Tolkien's works.

Luthien is a good subject; she was half-Maia and seemed to wear her body almost as raiment like her mother, being able to change its form at need. Another is the tragic Nimrodel, or Erendis who spent her life living under her circumstances and bearing the weight of them instead of triumphing over them.

These stories might be better served split into sub-threads, so that discussion can continue and not be interrupted by a change of the character discussed. (a problem with the Guild of Tolkienologists Gallery of Characters, where excellent essays are buried in one huge thread).

Speaking of the GoT thread, this would not be a repeat of the female Gallery of Characters posts, as it would be a discussion (heated debate?), not essays.

Obliged, not at all.

Welcome to do so? Of course. :D

Same goes for Eledhwen. :)
