Hey guys,
Webmaster said that perhaps we could have GoO back (officially as a guild) if we do make GoO more about Tolkien.
So, I am thinking we could start some Tolkien threads in here, in addition to the non-Tolkien threads that we already have.
I know some of you already suggested this, so are we ready to start?
Now I have a lot of ideas but am not sure what you guys would want.
Some ideas I will toss out:
A thread for "I would like some more information on..."
In this thread people would post asking if there is more information (in other Tolkien books they have not read) on a topic, and those who are aware of such information could provide it.
Another idea (am guilty of being a Silmarillion and elf fanatic) I have is to open a Silmarillion thread that can sort of guide people through the book. Myself, and others who know The Silmarillion, could post a chapter summary every few days for example, including which of the ten zillion characters are vital enough that we should make a point of remembering who they are and we could ask eachother questions in it. I suggest this because a lot of people have a hard time due to the dense way it is written and the trillion names, and often their first reading is more of a chore.
Another idea is to take some of our favorite topics that we have seen in the book forums and open them here to get a purely Outcast view on it, and see how the discussion turns out.
Another idea would be to open up any thread we can think of, and then if we come up with something really cool (which we will!) we can go share it with the rest, over in the book forums.
And last but not least we could do somethng like a weekly Outcast, where once a week, for example, someone opens a thread on an outcast character.
Of course this is just some ideas, and we don't have to do it, and maybe you guys have some even better ideas.
I think it will be fun though.
One thing I really support in the book forums is informing people who want to know more about Middle-earth because there is much written about it in books that a lot of people have not read.
