I've been studying systems theory and decided to apply it to TTF just for fun. You can look at what different groups there are on TTF, which have the most influence and popularity, and who reflect the norms and values that are looked up to. Its an interesting exercise. So here's my first list of the Forum's Power-brokers.:D

1. Turgon - a mod, a member of the prestigious Ost-in-Edhil, a good debator and a superb rper. Surprisingly... he is MOST influential. (So far.... more analysis may change this:))

2. Gothmog - another mod, another Ost-in-Edhil stalwart, and one of the foremost debators.

3. Ancalagon - as above, except now no longer a mod. Never short of an opinion, expertly put, and one of the longest standing members.

4. Aule - the vocal organiser of the debate tournament, he pops up everywhere with a mix of intelligent comment and mostly good natured teasing... he is the forums Mr Popular.

5. Wonko the Sane - highly vocal, posting everywhere, sustaining many threads, and member of many guilds. Will she ever return?

6. Grond - is he the forums most knowledgeable member? Not posting so much these days, the legacy of this ex-mod is still to be felt.

7. Nom - formidable debator, and the acceptable face of elf-luvvin' Very opinionated, and the forum loves a good rebel. Nom is a good rebel, as oppose to the legendary Ulairi the bad rebel.

8. Nenya Evenstar - C9er, multi-guilded, great RPer and mod at TTF.

9. Chrysopholax - well known and well liked, a great rper, a regular debator and another member of Ost-in-Edhil. Now a MERPG mod too... and gave birth to more forum members than you probably realise!:D

10. Ithrynluin - a book forum stalwart, a debator, a mod and guild participant.

Oh the next 10 include, Ciryaher, Eriol, Talierin, Baragund, Walter, Maedhros, Mrs Maggott, Arvedui, Lhunithiel... and some orc whose name escapes:o

Hehe... its an interesting list no? Just don't take it too seriously!;)

None that you listed ever influenced me much, but I suppose I travel in a different circle or something. . .Nor do any of them necessarily intimidate me. I find some members intimidating (Thorin intimidates me. Beorn just by being who he is.). RangerDave has influence in an odd way. . .so does Elbereth.

As for popularity, Nenya, definitely. I've been told me. MacAddict and his little circle. . .Branbear, por ejemplo. . .have left an odd mark on the forum.

I would've thought YayGollum would be up there somewhere.

Interesting... you seemed to have picked people out of a certain "circle" though, there's other "circles" around here too with influential people.

One note: Nenya and Turgon aren't mods anymore... I don't think Nenya ever was, if my memory serves.

She is or was on MERPG, if you want to count that.

RangerDave has influence in an odd way. . .
That may be the sweetest left handed compliment I've ever received.

Just goes to show that someone can be an influence without being a power.

Hmm... I'd forgotten all about this. I wonder when I'll have time and the inclination to look at this again. Don't hold your breath... I'm gonna be busy til the summer.
