This game is a competition that should be fun and educational.

I talked to your guild leader about it and have his permission to host the game.

This is how it works:

Just post a fact about elves! But the more obscure the fact is, the more points you will get for it. The most obscure facts will earn 3 points, the less so 2, and the least so 1. :) If someone accidently posts something that is not true then I will point this out and give them a chance to correct the mistake for a point.

Rules: Number the facts. One fact per post. Do not make two or more posts in a row. Please give a quote from the books to prove your fact or at least tell which chapter of which book it can be found in. If you think I didn't give your fact the number points it deserves just PM me about it. :)

Every so often (depending upon how active the game is) I will announce the scores and we can start a new round. I will probably some facts too... but will not be in the competition.

PS: It was Maedhros's "Did you know..." thread in GoS which gave me this idea.

Thank you Nom, for our pleasure and the courtesy of hosting this for us. :)

Well, my elves, feast upon the game provided for you. :D

Nerdanel's father Sarmo Urundil had a beard. (Sarmo Urundil is the latter name for Mahtan. Tolkien seems to have forgotten about the original name 'Mahtan' (LQI HoME 10) when writing the Shibboleth.

More likely only three people know about it. ;)

But no, I did not forget. I think there is just little interest in it. And that would be no wonder since you showed up... causing no one else to stand a chance of winning. :p

PS: Will you number your fact? :)

No Indy, we're looking for something to match your fact. ;)

Fact 2: Mirkwood

Thranduil was not the first king of this territory, though it appears this way in the hobbit. It was founded by his father Oropher, who was slain in battle. At the moment the territory was founded, it was named greenwood, but became mirkwood later, as the influence of Sauron corrupted the place.
