Just thought you guys should know that I'm fighting a losing battle with my boyfriend on getting him on the forum - he's now taken to calling the grand Periaur guild "The Tweenies"

I ask you ...

Ahh well, we've always known that Scottish laddies aren't known for their intelligence....;)

He just doesn't understand the complexity of our guild....the unique diversity, our complex and multifaceted intellence which we so humbly disguise in the humorous quips and chatter. But c'est le vie.

And beleive me girl, you are not the only one having trouble recruiting friends to join....not one of my friends will join the forum...no matter how cool I tell them it is...in fact some of my friends got concerned about me and made an effort to get me out more often...lol. Oh well, they are well meaning.

Not everyone is going to get us...and that is ok. It will just have to be thier loss I guess, because this place can be very entertaining. But we can't force people to join, we can only encourage. And if they redicule us for it...then so be it. Just be true to yourself and don't let that sort of thing get to you.

And remember....we got your back Legolam!

*gasp* What! Your boyfriend won't join? What's wrong with him? ;)
Does he like Tolkien stuff at all, or is he just someone who assumes forums are for geeks with no lives? (I confess, I fit that discription....but I know many of you do not :D )

Seriously though, sometimes it takes forever to get someone onto TTF, and sometimes they just refuse to even try it. Oh well. As Elbereth says, "their loss..." You'll be happy to know, however, that sometimes it is possible to get them on. Elenath Thoniel is a friend of mine that I had to work on for months before she would finally register. But I was successful, so there is hope for all. ;) Good luck.

Oh, he's such a geek, it's unreal! Since the movies, he now owns Alan Lee's illustrated versions of the books and is on his second reading. Every day he has a new question for me (they're all the ones I post in the book forums!), but still refuses to join just on the principal of the thing. I guess he's in denial of his geekdom!!

Ahh well, we've always known that Scottish laddies aren't known for their intelligence.... On behalf of half my nation, I take offence!!! Although you may have a point ...

See that is the wonderful thing about this guild....We all love Tolkien...but many of us do have lives or at least try to have lives...therefore we are wicked cool! ;) :D :p

Maybe you should bribe him....tell him if he doesn't join he gets no sugar from you until he does. That should do the trick! ;)

If he's that much of a geek I'm rather surprised that he refuses to join. Denial of his geekdom......such a terribly sad illness. Are you giving him anything for it?

Must be nice having a life. Maybe I should try it..... Somehow I need to get out (off campus) more.

Yes, if you take Nim's tactic and nag him incessantly for months and months, he might just join.

Believe me, I've tried!! Actually, the closest I've gotten to convincing him is when he read this thread and was upset that I've made it seem like he bought the books after the movies came out - he actually got them when he was fairly young but never read them! He was going to come on here and explain, but stopped himself just in time ;)

Well why don't you tell him if he doesn't make an appearance here...we are all going to call him chicken and begin taunting him with chicken noises. :p ;) :D

I'm seriously beginning to doubt that this "Shaun" fellow exists. ;)
Perhaps Legolam is some crazy girl in an asylum (the stereotypical Scot ;) ), who has an imaginary boyfriend called 'Shaun'....;)

And she must have paid some guy to pretend to be Shaun during Hogomany (sp?) last year.... :p

Legolam

Dammit, it's true - you got me! Indeed Shaun doesn't exist. He never did. He's a figment of my imagination, but I like him so I'm going to keep him!!! The guy from Hogmanay was just some hobo I found sitting outside my flat one night.

And yes, I'm meant to live in the asylum called the NHS Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, but I've escaped. I'm not really a medical student studying on the liver ward - I'm a 30 year old Irish man with a mild personality disorder, and I'm actually typing this from an Internet cafe in north Londonderry.

;)

Oh, and I'll be sure to pass the chicken noises onto Shaun, you mad mad people!!

LOL!! You're so funny....30 year old Irishman in Londonderry........so strange.

You know if that one thread almost worked on him, maybe you should show him this thread and really make him mad. "We mock you Shaun! BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!!" :o Sorry..... :D ;)

Hey. Legolam, is that avatar a baby picture of you or someone else?

Elenath Thoniel

Yes, taunt him with this thread, where we mock him with chicken noises. Wait. I'm the only one making chicken noises. Why am I the only one making chicken noises?

Because you're the one who happens to be plastered at the moment. :D Besides you make those noises so well that the rest of us would be embarrassed to even try. ;) :D

I believe that Legolam's avatar is a picture of Shaun when he was a bub. But since it has been revealed that "Shaun" doesn't exist, one must presume that the avatar is a picture of that hobo. ;)

You're all allowed to make chicken noises, but can you do it quietly? We're feeling a little fragile this morning! :D

Yes, by all means join me in the chicken noises! We'll squawk at Shaun in two part harmony.

We currently have two plastered members here who are offering to make chicken noises. Hmmm....weird situation. Have at it you two, but if Legolam takes you out for being too noisy, don't blame me. :D

 Shocking! I had no idea you were capable of such a feat Elbereth. Elenath, I think, after all, she may be better at this squawking thing then you are. No offense. :D

So Legolam, have we sufficiently freaked out your boyfriend, or have you avoided showing him this page knowing that your cause would be forever lost if he saw it?
