Hello folks, after wandering past the door for several months, I decided to come inside. And, if Elf Friend is from Middle Earth - then so am I - though from a more Eryn Lasgalen/Lorien-looking part of Central Florida.

I have been reading the Hobbit, the trilogy and the Silmarillion since the late '70s and I always seem to end up reading it in full everyother year.

When LoTR came out I was initially irritated [laughs], but after the second viewing I set it in it's own catagory and have been entralled ever since with each of the others. I look at the differences this way... the movie is the movie and the book is the book and if one page translates to one minute on the screen - Jackson had to pick and chose what was important for the movie to work... and he did a wonderful job of it. If he missed pieces that I thought were important, oh well [though I still wish he had done the scouring of the Shire for closure's sake]. Overall, if I had to chose one favorite 'Jackson scene' of all the movies it was Gandalf describing death to Pippen during the assault on Minas Tirith.

Other than that, I will visit often though I may not say much unless exceeding thought-provoked :)

Hi and welcome! Nice to see someone here who has been a Tolkien fan for so long (longer than I have lived... man that's scary...)

Insignificant? No, I believe everyone has value - though I will readily admit - some more than others [some people in my past for example] :) If you have read the books by now, you have done more than I did at your age.

Your potential lies in front of you like a path - be sure to use it.

It wasn't a quote actually... it was what I was thinking at the time when I wrote back to Smeagol and was part of the reply,,, but I think I'll keep it around.

I'm only 13 and I read the LotR books about a year before the movie came out so I was 10 when I read them ! I just finished reading every book by JRRT and some of them still go over my head (well actually not anymore since I have read them so many times :)).
