Hiyall. :)
As I said up there in the "Hi I'm new" forum, I'm an illustrator, and probably the most inspiring work I've ever read in my life is the Silmarillion. I used to draw nothing but Silmarillion illustrations ten years ago, then drew nothing from it at all, until it came back to me with a vengeance a month ago. I thought I'd share the pieces with you... I'll just post the best ones and link the others!

Very good, JennyDolfen. Just a little bit anime-like, I don't think that fits Tolkien so well. :)

I have to confess that last remark confuses me a little....
Your pictures are so beautiful and full of emotions. I absolutely love them. All of them. :)

Ah you found this place! :D
You know I'm an enormous fan of yours, so I won't comment further here. ;)
Ardamir how do you mean, 'anime styled'? And if you think these paintings don't 'fit', maybe you would like to outline why exactly you think so?

I think I know what he meant--but I'm at a loss where to start explaining. :)
I agree that anime is maybe not the BEST way to depict Middle-earth, but again, anime has so many variants besides candy-coloured Sailor Moon that I wouldn't say it was unfitting.
But what puzzled me most is how you thought my stuff was anime....? I know there are very slight influences--mainly my love of depicting handsome males and often doing androgynous figures--but it about ends there....
I think that the 'cuteness' factor may lead one to believe that your drawings have Japanese-anime qualities: something that doesn't mix too well with the dreariness of the First Age. They are extremely good none-the-less, I eagerly await your next piece of work. :)
Is there are chance that you'll be drawing any Dwarvish pictures (such as the Dwarves of Belegost vs. Glaurung; or the sack of Menegroth) in the near future? Or are you sticking with the Ñoldor?
Dwarves always get the short (no pun intended) end of the stick. ;)

Whew, and I'm a afraid I'm no exception ;) I've always loved the Elves, especially the Noldor (how do you get the tilde above the N?) and of those, especially the Feanoreans (how do you get two dots above the e?). ;)
The Fingon picture is up, by the way, and it's very bloody... be warned.

You'd be amazed at how often I'm asked that question. ;)

For all other letters like that, have a look HERE (http://www.thetolkienforum.com/showpost.php?p=402191&postcount=75).
The Fingon pic looks wonderful, although you forgot to have his heart ripped out. ;) I love the way he is still clutching his sword, showing how he fought till the death.

JennyDolfen, I didn't mean that your work is anime, just that it looks slightly like it. Keep up the good work! :)
