Hi there. I'm new (obviously) and glad to have found a Tolkien forum which *gasp* actually talks about Tolkien's work and not just about how "hawt"/"hott" Legolas is (what is the deal with two t's anyway?). Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan, but not a rabid fangirl. My favourite elf will always be Glorfindel anyway. ;)

I'm by no means a super-fan of the Tolkien works either, but I'm fascinated by the whole world and mythology he created and wish to learn more. That's why I'm here, to discuss the works on a deeper level than "Who thinks Hobbit feet are gross?" and "Don't you think Sam and Frodo seemed gay?" (which is really something which makes me angry to see, btw). Anyhow, like I said, glad to find this place. I was at another forums briefly, lured in by its claims to be the premier Tolkien forums, yet there seemed to be more focus on flirting and talking about mundane things that I could have gotten anywhere else. So, here I am.

I can assure you this forum is the genuine article!....or as close to it as any can come;):p

I'm sure you'll learn much here, especially in the Tolkienologists' and Scholars' guilds.
There are also a few of the more light-hearted forums discussing...er...more light-hearted LOTR aspects, of course...though I've never come across the "Don't you think Sam and Frodo seemed gay?" sort:p Interesting topic, maybe someone should start it:p;) JK;)

Welcome! I'm new here too but I've found it very helpful and interesting. I was bored and lost reading Fellowship one night so I typed Tolkien in the search engine and here I am. I stumbled in innocently, got hooked, and I'll never leave. Middle Earth is my new home, and TTF was the boat that got me there.
