The other day at school, it was wacky day, and as part of my 'costume', I wore a cape. That day, I got the hugest diss and the hugest compliments ever (to a freak like me anyway)
DISS-A kid named Tyler Zenner called me 'Harry Potter'
COMPLIMENT-Some kid whose name I know not bowed to me in the hallway and said "something something Milady"
Have you had any experiences that made you feel like maybe gallantry isn't dead after all?

Guys opening the door for me always gets my attention. Always. I mean, my mom raised my brothers to open the doors for girls, but they're usually the only ones who ever do. I don't know. I don't stand out very much, so maybe that's why. I've seen a few guys open the door for pretty girls. But this isn't supposed to be a rant, so...*zips lips*. Anyway, yeah, I wish more guys would do that...

Yes, that always seems to catch my attention also. Or, when everyone in class is piling out of the room when the bell rings and a guy will stop to let you out of the doorway first. But those things don't happen too often in my experience either, I suppose because not many guys are gentlemen these days.

I get heaps of respect
Maybe it's my age
I don't have a cape. Do you think a rain poncho would work just as well?

it always gets to me when people say "excuse me" in the hall. Expecially since the halls are so crowded and such a .... rude place to be.
and when people smile when I look at them. smiling is always nice. what's w/ all this glaring?

what's w/ all this glaring?I hadn't noticed much glaring (maybe because of where I live), but if I did, I would say that the glarer is trying to exert control over even the most fleeting of encounters, but being a bit sad about it. I have never been afraid of eye contact, and glarers seem to find this difficult.
Manners maketh the man, they say, but after reading books such as Pride and Prejudice, depicting the manners of 200 years ago, I'm glad I can talk to anyone without offending them by my sex or social status. We've come a long way, but perhaps we've gone a little too far in the direction of plain rudeness.

There is much glaring in hallways at my school. People in hallways are mean. The hallways in my school are horrible.. they are always clogged and people shove, hard.. not fun.

You can say that again. Or maybe I'm just being pessimistic today.

Yes...random strangers smiling at me always makes me happy. :D I don't know why...but it never fails. I always go out of my way to be one of those random strangers who smiles at everyone in the halls, even if I don't know any of them. It always elicits one of two good responses: returned smiles or strange looks. :)
