hello.
My name is Charlie and I have been a fan of LOTR since i was a child. My dad even wanted to call me Arwen (hes obsessed too) but my mum would not let him! How gutted am i? Anyway, I am a first year student studying Languages in Liverpool, but i am origianlly from Manchester.
I like the films but the book comes first!
I have just begun studying Tengwar and have manged to include it in my uni work.
I am twenty years old. My main hobbies are writing, sports, music and reading.
My whole family (except my mum, who dosen't count anyway) is obsessed with LOTR and arguments always break out over it. My little brother thinks that Boromir is better than Faramir, but i so don't!
My boyfriend recently dumped me for "being to much into LOTR" but that was after he bought me the Evenstar so I am getting over it!
Thank you, Thanks for reading!

Hallo there!
I'm new-ish too around here, but I'll still welcome you around and hope you stay. Being so much of a LOTR fan is not a bad thing, in spite of all your ex-boyfriend's been saying.
Boromir and Faramir are more complex than just good or bad, but Faramir's qualities are more lasting, because of his Numenorian origins. I like Faramir too, more than Boromir, but that's only because Boromir is a traitor and I tend to deeply dislike traitors. Anyway, the Faramir in the movies is almost as bad as Boromir, actually, so if that's what your brother was judging by that, I might agree with him in the end.
What sort of things do you write then? Are you more into fantasy and sf or more into social/realistic stories? Or are you a poet maybe?

thanks!
Hi Melian, I write alot, such as poetry, scripts and short storys. I have a *few* ideas for a novel but im too lazy to begin! Most of them are fantasy based, but i have quite a wide range really! I take a writing course as part of my degree, its really helping with my poetry. With the Boramir/Faramir its based more on the books than the movie! I was gutted in TTT when Faramir appeared to be such an idiot!
Niniel I chose it because it is the the tengwar symbol for 'n' which is one of my initails. It is meant to have an accent above the 'U' but I don't know how to do it on the college com!
Yours is very similar, why did you choose yours??
Thanks again!

Ah, I thought maybe it had something to do with the Latin word 'numen' which means a certain kind of divinity. My name is just after Níniel Nienor, from the Sil.

hello.
My dad even wanted to call me Arwen (hes obsessed too) but my mum would not let him! Hello Numen, and welcome. If you'd been born 8 days earlier, would your dad have wanted to call you Bilboa or Froda?
I had a friend whose dad added a name he liked when he went to register the baby, much to the mum's annoyance (they hadn't discussed it). Your dad was obviously too much of a gentleman.
If he's such a fan, why doesn't he register on TTF too? There are one or two of us here who have not been teenagers for several decades.
