Yeesh. PJ's been replaced by the guy who did Resident Evil, Mortal Kombat, Event Horizon, and is currently doing Alien vs. Predator?

Can't say that's good news- I'd much rather see PJ do it. Oh well, maybe I'll get to learn how purists feel!

That was one of my thoughts too, the whole "be careful what you wish for..." spiel.

I would really like to see them retain the 'kid's story' feel of the book in the movie but I don't think the choice of director portends well for that wish. We'll just have to see.

McKellan and Serksis will both be reprising their roles though, so that is a plus.

Hahahahahahahahahaha!

I can't believe that you guys fell for that so late! :p
If you had looked at the Main Page (http://www.thehobbitfilm.com/), you would have seen that it was a joke. ;)

It did occur to me that this might be an April Fool's joke, particularly when I had seen no mention of it here, but it seemed on the up and up.

Oh well, my bad. Spank me and call me Nancy!

{swat} Nancy.

I'd feel a lot more stupid, except for the fact that press releases like this really do refer to **** like Mortal Kombat and Event Horizon as "blockbusters". That and I forgot about April 1st.
