As of this evening, I start cleaning out the library of the Guild-hall of Ost-in-Edhil. This is a part of the announced spring-cleaning, and I think that we all must admit that the activity within these halls are not what we all should have wanted them to be.

I will not be cleaning out the place by torching it (delete everything). Those threads that are Tolkien-related and that I feel might still cause some activity will be moved to their respective places elsewhere on TTF.
Threads that are either out-debated, or not related to Tolkien, will go to the archives.

If any of you disagree with me concerning where I have moved the individual threads, send me a PM, or even better: post your views here. I promise that I will concider your points, even though that I can't promise you that I will change my mind.

I will leave a re-direct for each and every thread here in this Guild, and keep it those re-directs active for a week or so, or until the cleaning staff agrees that the Guild will forever be shut down and only live on as a memory described in the Scrolls of the Cottage of Lost Play.

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

Hm..It's a shame, and a sad day for TTF. O-I-E was (is?) a good guild. It's also a shame that GoS is heading down the same path. Never mind, it was good while it lasted, I suppose.

I agree with that. A look at the topics treated in those guilds will prove you right, I think.

But with the activities that haven't taken place in neither place lately, I find it hard to argue against a closing of either of them.
On the positive side, we will need to look in fewer places to find those topics that we initially look for.

Indeed. And it could mean that some guild members could have more free time to post in or look at other sections of the forum, or they could be spared the worry over the inactivity of the guild or they could join other guilds.

I too am sorry that OiE is to close, although I can certainly see why. I have enjoyed my time as a member here, even if not a particularly active one, and will be forever grateful for the education which I found and for being given the opportunity to wet my debating toes with the superb support and encouragement of my fellows.
Thanks for the memories and see you around.
