I have to apologize for not being active for the past one month.

I went back to Bulgaria for a vacation and then I was travelling around Europe as well as working on some projects concerning my exams.Although my exams are in three weeks and a half I am almost done with all my projects. So, again I can spend some time at my favourite place.

I noticed that the Best of The Best Tournament have "died" so I would like to light its fire again wit your help.

Let's prepare for the beginning of round 2. :)

I was reluctant to push the tournament forward because of an obvious lack of participation. Is it worth it when participants produce only a handful of posts - for whatever reason?

You are right Ithy, but maybe not all participants were so unserious.

Maybe we should try to make it again.I mean,I believe that one onf hte problems was that we(those who organize it-especially me-because my missing here) didn't do our best for the Tournament.

I know that I, for one, will be better able to participate as my computer problems have been solved. I would very much like for this tournament to continue!

I have not lost interest in the tournament; the few number of posts in my and Elfarmari's debate were, as she has said, due to her computer problems.

Thanks to the unforeseen delay, I now have more time on my hands, so maybe we should at least give it one more try?

How does this work now that most of the Guilds don't exist?
Perhaps you could make this into an individual competition, instead of a Guild one?
That way you are truly getting the "best of the best" rather than the "best of each guild".

I am still willing to participate. And I think we may as well leave the rounds as they are set up. Granted, my guild no longer exists, but why mess with it now? We're still the "elected" debators from different groups of people. It should still work anyway. Let's get on with it! I've been waiting!

Exactly Arvedui,I was thinking of a single competition in which the best debators are invited to participate.

I am still dreaming to see a debate between Gothmog and Arvedui,or Ancalagon and Lhunithiliel or even Snaga and Nom.Can we give it a try?

Two questions:
1) if the debate tournament is revised to include only select debators, who would select them?
2) Is there a third judge working on the first round debate between me and Helcaraxe? So far there are two draws, and I'm wondering if we'll ever know who won. . . .

I am still dreaming to see a debate between Gothmog and Arvedui,That may be your dream, but definately not mine. I don't particularily like the idea of having the Lord of Balrogs hanging me out to dry in public! ;) :D

Well Arvedui, that was just a fine example for great debate.

Since some Guilds are in the past,I don't believe that the tournament should be continued in this format.Maybe we can do it individual competition.

Aule,what do you think?

pm-me please with some ideas ;)

Gothmog

That may be your dream, but definately not mine. I don't particularily like the idea of having the Lord of Balrogs hanging me out to dry in public! ;) :D
I thank you for the compliment, but I am not at all sure just who would be doing the hanging out. ;) :D

Well, I can't let you win on walk-over either, could I?

And Gil-galad, don't worry. I eat Balrogs for breakfast. (At least I have a burning stomach at the end of the day. Could of course be all the coffee...)

So let me collect some opinions?

Arvedui,Gothmog, would you like to participate in a debate tournament?Together with other 2 debators?Or maybe 4?

Gothmog
05-06-2004, 09:06 PM
Well, I have no objection to decorating a washing line. ;) :D

Arvedui

If it was allowed by the administrators and mods of TTF, I would simply have answered: yes!
But since one-word posts are against the rules, I had to elaborate some. That should explain the pointless use of words that is displayed in this post. I sincerely apologise to all for using so many words when a single YES should have been enough. Sorry.;)

So I'm getting the idea that the current tournament is defunct and that there will just be picked teams and/or people debating? Also, I would still like to know who won the first round. . .

Bethelarien

Well, I must say that I'm rather disappointed. I guess now there really is no reason for me to keep coming to TTF.

Good luck to all the debators, whoever you are.

Hey Beth, you can always debate!!Who said that you were not going to be invited to debate?
I even think of making a kind of eliminations. With 1/8finals,1/4 finals,semi-finals and of course final.

Hey Arvedui, that was really short way of saying "yes" :)
